Before he too silently started looking for his phone, Kent switched his sight back and forth between his light and the smartphone.

***

William Shakes, who had been hospitalized for a serious injury and lacked any kind of combat skill, was sent to the very back of the group

William thought to himself as he rubbed the back of his neck.

(This designation as the nation's weakest soldier always followed me around, whatever I went.

I had roughly the same strength as an average person. I'm about the same as regular folks in every way, save for being a little stronger and his wounds mending a little quicker.

I always wound up being hurt, but that was to be expected. I too had multiple close calls with death.

Of course, I had never really enjoyed being a soldier)

(The pay was pitiful, the labor was dangerous, and others made fun of me, yet individuals and soldiers still lose their lives on the front lines every day, and the higher-ups view this as dying for their fatherland.

I would not be alive today if it weren't for the health insurance provided by the military to its soldiers as part of their "contract." Instead, I am working as a miner and leading a normal life after quitting the military because I was constantly getting beaten, sent to the front lines, and nearly killed by a nuclear magical bomb.

Unfortunately, I had little choice but to continue working as a miner if I wanted to pay for my sister's expensive college education because I was in my mid-twenties, had no practical skills, and had no idea how to use orbs correctly.)

(Should I claim that I was powerless to change the situation?

I had no choice but to join the expedition led by the Mining association even though I didn't want to.)

When William clutched his hand and appeared dejected( "Why do I have the fate of the weak? Why can't I be a strong soldier and take care of my little sister?")

After a while, he calmed himself and took a few deep breaths in and out because he realized that dwelling on his frustration wouldn't help.

Right then, it took place.

Suddenly, things out front got rather busy.

We discovered it!

As they emerged from the long corridor, a cold and heated breeze was felt on their skin, and everyone's eyes widened.

The little light that penetrated the mine was reflected on the gold pieces, making them shimmer and glimmer like stars in the night sky

The gold is so clear and pure that it can be used as a mirror, yet the sparkles could make one's eyes go blind.

It looked like a paradise of riches since every piece of gold reflected the light, generating different sizes of stars on the opposite wall.

As they watched the incident, the first words that came out of their tongues were, "Our exalted days have arrived."

Jared grinned broadly as he considered his finances.

There was gold mixed with copper and nickel, and there were also small pieces of silver between them.

Kent, who was leading, exclaimed, "What a mineral resource this is, I never imagined of a day, I will see a beautiful and richer mine."

William's eyes sparkle as his focus immediately shifts to the front.

Miners surrounded and entered right away.

What is that? They each look at the gold and exclaim, "Gold!, Gold!

"I'm positive that this is the first time."

“This… Doesn’t this feel like the best day of my life?”

Miners began to express their joy and happiness one at a time.

Since they didn't expect it, of course since their lives were on the line here, they had to be cautious and meticulous, but now all those cautious and meticulous changes to happiness and joy

However, if one were to become too cautious, one would end up failing to grasp the heaven-sent opportunity in the first place.

“This… Is it just me, or does today feel like the best day ever?

One by one, the miners started to express their excitement and happiness.

They had to be cautious and meticulous because they didn't expect it and because their lives were in danger, but now all of that caution and diligence have changed to delight and happiness.

However, if one were to exercise excessive caution, one would wind up missing the chance that had been sent from above.

Mister Kent had assumed that this was a case in point.

"What are you guys doing there, standing around looking at it?

Grab your tools, everyone, and take the outcome of this. He roared while holding a pick axe.

Kent has worked as a miner for ten years.

He would have been harvesting big minerals for nine years if it weren't for the fact that he was over sixty. However, this was the first time he had witnessed the event of a big mineral, so it makes sense why he was more ecstatic than the other miners, except for William Shakes.

"I can't let that old man have all the treasure to himself."

"Absolutely Not," they say.

They grabbed his pickaxe and tools and started harvesting.

"Postnatal care, the school fee for the firstborn kid, and let's not forget, this month's rent is almost due, too., but now I would be able to pay...Keke."

Now, the miners' thoughts are in agreement.

William also fortified himself.

"I can't go back home with just a single pair of gold pieces. We will be able to subsist for a year or two if I gather at least 10 gold. It wasn't even necessary for it to be gold. possibly copper or silver."

As the other miners happily dug with their pick axes, William likewise activated his mana, causing an orb surrounding his body to light up with a greenish aura.

But only if they are aware that enjoyment brought about by fate is transitory.

************

Present

Some of the miners were singing, while others were overjoyed that their struggles had abruptly come to an end as they used a pickaxe to plow through the rocks. A strong-looking man with a steel pickaxe caught a glimpse of a moving black thing while wearing a thick yellow coat and sparse facial hair.

What is that, exactly? A particular miner stopped moving and tried to direct his sight in that direction.

"Huh, what that?" a chubby miner with neatly groomed facial hair and low, styled hair queried the other person.

"I mistook what I thought I saw for nothing" The bulky man looked to the left and right before carrying on with his task.

[Error: Human Intent has been Detected!]

[Human being discovered]

"What the heck is it, human beings?" Jason, a meek slime who was walking in the dark.

His black, lean form unites with the gloom as he pauses to process what [mind imprint] just wrote in his head.

Human!!, how? I assumed there should be a dungeon or ruins, and if it hadn't been for [mind imprint], I would have died by now, because a human perceives a monster as something that must be killed." Jason was astounded by what he had just learned.

Clank

Clank

the sound of digging and the operation of equipment goes on in the background.

I'm safe for the time being because they aren't trying to murder me right now. After all, I haven't been seen by them.

However, Jason, a meek slime, was concerned since he couldn't see and he pondered how he would get through this obstruction in front of him.

He eventually ran out of ideas, despite the fact that he kept asking the [mind imprint] for advice in the hopes that it could respond, "I can't, fate is waiting for me to ask him for a favor, but I won't, I prefer death again."

The fact that these people are not regular people causes him to become fearful. "I have a gut instinct, as I was a deity in my previous incarnation, therefore I know when danger is approaching," he says as sweat rolls down his slimy body, "like I always say, I'm worse than an insect."

"How can a deity be so hopeless?" He tries to flee but is aware that if he does, he will be apprehended, "Even though I have all these skills, why is it that I can't see how to put them to use? Fate, I won't be a slime if you didn't reincarnate me as one."

Well, a miracle occurred.

(Can I be heard? Little one)

"Was "Little One?" said by anyone?"

Whatever he might have imagined, "they were probably talking about me...

But it didn't feel like hearing a voice; rather, it was like being told those words directly. I don't, at least, have ears to hear.

(If you need my assistance, speak out.)

Since he is still in the dark, Jason knows that if he moves, those people would see him and he will be killed.

"Okay, I need help getting out of here because if I move, I'll die."

(Oh, I see. I'll disable every sensory ability in the area.)

"Ah, thanks, that will be helpful" That would be preferable to asking fate for the assistance given that he needed the help even though he didn't know who it was.

As the mysterious voice flipped his finger, an abrupt power changed the environment. similar to turning off a light.

[Sensory functions have been disabled, although this is due to an unidentified species]

"Huh?"

[Note that physical attack resistance is active]

[The unidentified skill has been terminated]

Oh, such a practical skill; he did it.

Clank

Clank

The sound of digging and the use of tools and machinery goes on in the background, but no one notices, what happened.

Puyon

Puyon

As a result, Jason starts moving in the opposite direction.

(Oi! Can you hear what I'm saying? It would be beneficial to respond!)

"I can hear you!"

But, but, but! He can't reply because he doesn't have a voice.

As a trial,

(Too loud, you fool! How can a child address me in such a manner?)

That was the response he was trying to imagine in his brain.

You should be OK since it's not like you hear it. However, how did I respond?

(… Keke, you have the guts to call me a bastard, I may have started poorly because it has been a while since I last had company, but this one seems to be looking for death!)

"It's not good. I can't fight anyone right now; even a rat might smash me, he heard someone say."

But hey, I can react when I hear or feel words in my mind! I wouldn't have to irritate my buddy if I hadn't been taught that before."

"In addition, I have no idea what my partner is like at all.

That's it, then. It's time to call it a day."

Let's properly apologize now, but how can a deity do that? If I didn't and was still hung up on my pride, I would be killed.

(I apologize! I wasn't sure how to answer, so I chose to go with whatever looked reasonable. I genuinely regret this!

On that topic, I should mention that I cannot see or hear, thus I am unable to see your face and am unsure of your motivation.)

"Did that reach?"

He can't see or hear him, but he can still feel his words in his heart. Who would have thought he was a kid? However, if that is the case, any level of fury is to be expected.

He then refrained from making rash remarks.

(Fufufu. Fuhaha. Fuahahahahaha!)

"And then there was laughter.

Three steps of perfect laughter. Simply breathtaking

Has the rage subsided?"

(Interesting. Since you don't have eyes, I must say this without observing my appearance as I had suspected. The majority of slime species are mindless beings that can only [Absorb], [Dissolve], and [Regenerate]. I've yet to witness one vacating its domain.)

He began narrating a fantasy that "everyone in the countless universes knew" somehow.

Did I pique his attention rather than soothe his ire...?

In any case, this is our initial interaction. This is down to 30 chapters of his life story, which is both the worst and most frustrating. But perhaps fate had something in mind.

"I want to move on amicably and learn a lot from him,"

(I naturally thought it pretty odd when I suddenly felt a slime in the mine. And that too at a very fast rate. Just who are you? A specific monster? a particular monster? However, there aren't any monsters on this planet, so why are you here?

Do not monsters exist in this world? Jason felt surprised.

(I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you meant when you claimed that there are no monsters that exist here. Since I was born only 30 days ago, in actuality)

(Call me special!)

"Readers, what precisely are special creatures? You don't know, so I'll elaborate."

Monsters with peculiar abilities and mutations are considered to be unique. Rarely are such people born in places with a lot of high energy density

(I see, you don't have any orbs, and your birth was supported by magical energy derived from your inner self. I shall therefore state that your soul is vast (like an ocean) and heavy (like lead).

(What do you think "lead" means? Lead does not exist in the magical universe.

(You could argue that if this planet were a magical world, it would be a modern one, devoid of monsters.)

"What? There are no monsters, but there is magic. I've heard of orbs from [Mind imprint], but this is a magical modern world. No, it's impossible. Jason started to shake from the inside out as he was simultaneously shocked that fate had brought him back to the Modern era.

(It's impossible)

(What is impossible?)

(nothing) Because Jason wasn't sure who he was speaking to or who was speaking to him, he was unable to notify anyone.

(I sense that you are absorbing some of my magical energy as well; perhaps all of my mana is radiating from me.)

After hearing what he stated, Jason recalled a time when he attempted to absorb shadow energy that wasn't there here and instead absorbed all the mana in the air. I'm sorry! haha

In the back of his mind, he thought, "curse you fate," adding, "I merely absorb anything I see, I have been reduced to a lowly slime after all."

(Ay. There has never been a monster that could talk to me in these thousand years. Perhaps You could even touch me, being born from my power!"

(Hoho… Then you would be like my parents, wouldn't you?)

(To refer to it as a parent would be incorrect. I don't have the ability to reproduce after all. Some monsters are unable to reproduce.

(It would be typical to lack such abilities, wouldn't it? If magical energy was condensed during the creation of monsters, wouldn't reproduction be unnecessary?)

(You are a surprisingly intelligent, little one, I must say. There aren't many monsters that can think normally, but in my world, the only ones with actual intelligence are the ones that have evolved.

But that's okay, I'll address your query.)

There are subordinate tribes that procreate. To name a few, there are lizardmen, goblins, and orcs. These unique monsters—often referred to as demi-humans—are special.)

(I am aware of all of that; please stop talking; instead, tell me about this contemporary reality.)

(Keke, you sure are curious!)

(Well, there's nothing more to say here; simply five nations competing for the right to distribute human resources broadly in accordance with [Alovina's] geopolitical demands. Due to its geographical location in the midst of the continent, Alovina has always had to consider its neighbors as potential enemies. It was never easy to discuss how many troops they needed to defend their extensive region. To tackle this issue, headquarters slowly concluded that they should effectively utilize all of their resources.)

Next about Alovina.

(Alovina is a nation within the large nation of the United States of America; at first, they were situated in a scorching, inhospitable region with no food, meaning that nobody knows why or how they managed to do it there. I could sense men dying like animals on the front lines, but one day they suddenly moved to the middle of the continent, resulting in the massive battles that are currently raging between those neighboring nations.)

Jason was dozing off, even though his body didn't require it. However, the governmental and war aspects of the talk made him feel bored because he has fought in wars throughout his life.

You are reading story Slime modernization at novel35.com

(what?, you're asleep, so you didn't hear what I just said) The voice grew thicker and louder.

(no, sorry, my mistake, I grew tired of hearing about politics and war; please go on; I'm listening. So why are you here? are simply tired of fighting and came here to relax.)

Archdemon Mephistopheles Thus am I!

Neither time nor flesh can bind me. I am an infinite mass of pure demonic energy.

How am I supposed to be tired of war and destruction, fu.... hahahahahahahaha!!!? hahaha!!!)

He starts laughing loudly right there.

"In essence, he had no peace because he had no longevity, but he was glad about it to himself.

Those sorts of things?"

Although his explanation dragged on, it was still quite helpful.

(I'll call him Mephisto for short because that name is too long) Mephisto... archdemon, huh?

"Isn't he a dangerous fellow who enjoys war and destruction?

This would appeal to the majority of people who are interested in"

"In my first world, this would appeal to most manga, anime, and light novel fans, including myself."

With everything he knows, Archdemon Mephisto is unquestionably dangerous.

"Archdemon don't always come to the normal world even if it's a fantasy world full of magic since they are very proud and cunning and like to stay alone and don't like ruling or showing their powers like demon lords. To summon them, you will need a high amount of sacrifice, I mean a high amount. And the fact that he explained everything in such a polite manner just makes this feel more foreboding."

"What should I do next?"

(Is that true? What a clear explanation, I appreciate it so much! then I'll have to leave!)

"I attempted to shut my mind off with those phrases."

(Wait, keke, I've already explained. It's not your turn, is it? Hmm?)

It doesn't seem like a situation in which I should immediately shut my mind off.

"Yeah~. Let me introduce myself. just hold on. Would he even believe me if I said that I had been a deity in a previous life and that I had been reincarnated into numerous other worlds?"

"Even Jason is aware that tricking him would be impossible because he is a very intelligent slime.

If anything, if he discovers that I'm lying to him, it would raise a red flag for death, wouldn't it?"

"Oh, well.

It is not up to me to judge whether or not he believes me."

After making a decision, I talked about everything that had occurred thus far.

(And that's the problem, too! It's strange, isn't it?)

He talked about everything from how fate had screwed him up over time and space, this time waking up as a slime, to circumstances he had experienced without mentioning his abilities or [mind imprint].

Strangely, as he was saying it, the scenario did not appear at all distressing, but it actually was quite horrible. The saddest aspect of it all is that he is blind.

Will he not, in this slime-body scenario, pass on every significant official's pretty wives and beautiful women if this continues?

That makes him say…

(I see. What a blessing it was that you had been reincarnated through time and space, I thought. Your luck looks to be in.)

(Eh? favor me? Hey, aren't you supposed to be suspicious, shocked, or upset for me?)

"Why did you respond that way? Reincarnation is considered to be extremely uncommon. I, however, have experienced reincarnation of all types, spanning time and space. The way he phrases it makes a typical birth sound more strange."

(Ay. Reincarnates rarely make an appearance. However, yours is unique because it has strong objectives imprinted in it, thus I will argue that it is highly essential

Although those who remember their prior lives are not particularly uncommon, "you are omniscient" since you can recall every occurrence from various places and periods.

But it's uncommon to have reincarnated from a different planet.

You would also typically be born as a human, and then to be born as everything and then a slime, and to say the least, from magical energy... that I am unfamiliar with.

Just having a strong soul is insufficient to have transcended the confines of the world; you must also have a magnificent soul. Your soul would have disappeared if you hadn't managed to keep it stabilized inside that body. You are unique.)

Jason instantly recalls what [mind imprint] stated, that it takes 31 days for it to fully integrate into him. "ah, I see"

(Are you certain? However, I was unaware of myself. That means that some people have returned to this planet after previously being on another.

(Kinda. Though it hasn't happened often enough for typical reincarnates, some people have wandered from there to this world. yet it's not feasible for those of  multiple reincarnations)

They are referred to as "Reincarnates" and "Transmigrators," and they have unique intelligence. Additionally, they frequently possess certain unique skills.

Records of wise beings who have had previous lives still exist. Even if there are probably some who went unnoticed.

There are still records of reincarnated beings who were paid for their wisdom. Even if there are probably some who went unnoticed.)

"I see. Otherworlders. I'm not sure if they are from my other worlds or not, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to meet them. However, I have witnessed regressors and transmigrators who do not reincarnate."

(I see! If that's the case, I'll go meet some "Reincarnate" if I can. Perhaps I'll find a fellow subordinate among them, as I did in [Thelea] before being betrayed.

(Still, little one. You can’t even see.)

(Ah… right.)

"What happens if I can't see?"

It's annoying, but if I carefully move around, I'm sure to run into them someday. At that point, I'll probably exercise caution.

(I shall restore your sight.)

Huh? What?

"Oh, this old man, no, this cunning arch demon … ain’t he a good demon?"

"Can I expect this miracle?"

(Eh? Will you, sincerely?)

(Ay. However, there is a condition. What do you think?)

A condition… huh. Ominous, but…

(What sort of condition?)

(An easy one. Do not flee from me when you locate me and can see again. And do come chat with me again, please. What do you think?)

"Is that all right? A crafty archdemon. Regardless of the world, I have been transported to, archdemons are so sly and dangerous that even I, the shadow deity, have difficulty dealing with them."

"Could it be... A lonely devil perhaps? Is solitude a sign of power? No, it can't be, he claimed he couldn't get tired of violence and destruction."

And just as he anticipated, the discussion continued for some time. Jason reasoned that he must not have spoken to anyone recently and that he might simply be a big softy.

"But it's possible that he's not even an archdemon. Or perhaps there is only one demon in this realm, or perhaps bored archdemons aren't all that impressive."

"Yup. This is definitely a fantastic bargain; it beats fate, which just abducted you without notice."

(Is that sufficient?)

(Ay. Actually, I had spent a thousand years in a confined chamber. I need conflict and devastation because I've been so afflicted by boredom by remaining here. What do you think?)

What a cunning bastard, I thought, "I see, he wasn't weary of war and destruction, he was just bored of remaining here. But I'll play along for the time being because any mistake could mean death."

(If you are okay with it, I'll gladly accept!)

(Yeah, keke Then, a promise is made. Keep it up!)

(I will! I am, as they say, a dependable slime!)

"Of course, I alone believe it."

(Very good. There is a talent called [Magic Mind Perception]. Can you use it?)

(I can't. What kind of ability is it?)

(This world uses orbs to help you perceive the magical energy around you, but I find it easy to do without them. It's not a particularly difficult ability to learn.)

(hmm, Simple you say!))

"Truly, it's not at all simple."

(Keke. For somebody like me, summoning a powerful archdemon is as easy as breathing—something you do without ever realizing it.)

(I see! Would I be able to see it if I were to obtain it?)

(That's the concept. There are tiny magical energies all over this earth. A slight variation in concentration exists. Additionally, all auras—light, dark, and demonic—have a wave-like quality. (Forget about demonic aura, though.)

(Yeah, the waves of light, shadow, and darkness are intricate. hence, light and darkness?)

(You are aware, is that information from every other world? Well, it's true.

But by analyzing these variations, you may determine how the environment would appear; since guys like us don't need orbs, only imagine the environment, simple right?)

"Ha, I see, but it's still complicated" Even if he was a great deity in a past incarnation, since little to no magic exists in the air, just like ordering him to take a bath without soap and water, which is impossibly difficult.

(What? With this, you may continue fighting even if your eyes and ears are damaged. Ambushes are no longer feasible. It's an essential ability!)

(ahhhh! I only want to be able to see, for the time being, so let's set the issue of combat aside for the moment.)

(If you say so,keke. It will facilitate the purchase! I don't know of any other way, even as an archdemon, by the way.

(Wha… Can you even pull it off? Aren't you just learning yourself?)

(Avoid worrying. You are one of the fortunate few who had memories from another world. As a result, you are familiar with how bright and dark seem.

Even for me, it would have been hard to make you see if you hadn't known. You are indeed blessed!"

(no I'm not)I see, it would be impossible to convey light and darkness to someone who has never experienced them.

"I know I couldn’t do it."

"It took him 2 years to study rune magic the first time he was abducted by fate."

In other words, I can acquire pseudo-sight and hear using the [Magic mind Perception] skill because I have knowledge of other worlds.

"It's not like I can't try, anyway. It is far too inconvenient to be blind.

In addition, I do not even remember it, but I do have the [Mind imprint]. Surely something good will come of this! Well, learning new things is a good thing."

(Teach me, please!)

(Actually, don't worry; it's really easy. First, make an effort to shift the magical energy within you.)

"I think I understand this. I believe I can apply the same strategy as in my past incarnations."

(Such as this?)

"I shall separate the magical energy in my body into three categories while confining it: light, shadow, and dark."

(Keke. Despite what you claimed, you seem to be pretty qualified for this. Do you notice a difference between the energy that you divided in this instance and the energy that is inside of you?)

"This is really quite easy."

He lived in many magical and inclined worlds, therefore it's a good thing he spent all that time sensing magical energy. He is after all a slime that eats magical objects at this point.

(That much I understand! Since I eat it, you know?)

(Kukuku. You already know that much, so the rest is easy. Then visualize the divided mana as a vessel, and experience the flow of magical energy through it from without yourself.

"That's what I don't understand because it was another concept of magic that I, the great deity, was unaware of in my previous life."

Anyways, as instructed, he tried to feel it.

"I notice it swaying. Back and forth, back and forth, back and forth..."

Right! So let's activate [Mind imprint] in the hopes that fate won't step in.

[Verified. [Magic Physical Perception] has been successfully earned as a bonus skill.

Will you use Magic Physical Perception as a supplementary skill? [YES]/[NO]

"Eh?, Did I just acquire it that easily?"

Of course, [YES]; yep,

As usual, [Mind imprint] delivers as predicted!

Up until he had to activate the supplementary talent "Magic Physical Perception," his head was spinning with thoughts. Even as a deity, he had never managed so much data all at once.

Through shifting waves of light and darkness, magical energy that had previously been divided into two was gradually revealed. He transforms the information into one he can understand once he has absorbed it all.

"I have no blind spots as a result and can see everything around me in all directions."

If he focuses his attention there, he can view the countryside 100 meters distant in the shade of a boulder.

"A deity's intellect might fry if it were overloaded with that much knowledge."

"I am a slime, though. Every one of my cells is a brain and muscle cell!"

This much I can handle.

And so…

[connecting the additional talent "Magical Physical Perception" with the special skill "Mind Imprint"]

[An error has happened]

Now, what?

[A prayer to fate must be made to use this skill.]

Ah, what the hell, again.

[A prayer to fate must be made to use this skill.]

I stated that I had heard you.

What a shithole.

"Fate, who art in Eden, scan thee, my request; my existence is in your hands."

[The fission has been finished]

His eyesight became more clear.

Furthermore, he did not get a piercing headache.

"This is a clear example of "vision," so it's strange in and of itself that I haven't been able to do it until now. I know fate had something to do with it."

"[Mind imprint] is fantastic, but since fate is the one who gave it to me, I'm certain that fate had a wonderful, lethal plan for me."

That is most definitely not exaggerating. He would undoubtedly be complaining if someone else had it. But he is the one who owns it.

(Well… I must have done it somehow. I appreciate it very much.

(Come find me; something terrible is about to happen; take care.)

(What? Hello, what?")

The voice stopped, and the environment returned to normal, making it appear as though he had been in a deserted area earlier. What the arc demon had said to Jason continued to worry him.

"What is he talking about?" Before he could finish his sentence, the mine turned on its axis.
