The silence streches long, as if she has lost her sense of hearing, if it wasn't for the silent crackles of the fire burning beside her that is.

"What was that?" The shieldsman bursts open his tent, wait that sounded wrong, he flips open the entrance to his tent and asks with a slight panic in his voice. Then the mage and the archer follows

"We have to run!" The swordsman says, clearly showing panic in his eyes, but not the panic of seeing nothing. No, it's the look of someone who has seen too much.

"What do you mean we have to run?" The mage asks, confused, while the archer's hands slightly tremble.

"It's the Red Monkey!" The swordsman says loudly, almost shouting.

"You're saying that weak thing we usually beat up when we were newbies made that sound?"

"It's not the same one! This one is mutated!"

"What? Pack your stuffs and let's go!"

A mutated monster, we can never tell it's strength based on the original species. A slime can be as deadly as a dragon, or a golem can be as brittle as glass for what you know. As everyone rush to get their belongings, Derlene thinks to herself

'How did he know it was a red monkey?' But she just shoves that thought to the back of her mind. 'Get moving first, questions later.'

.o.

The party is currently running for their lives. They left most of unnecessary stuffs back at the camp to reduce the weight they have to carry. The longer they run, the more menacing the silence solidifying in the darkness looming over the forest looks. They run, and run, and run, until they see a clearing up ahead.

"We're here!" The archer says, a little too loud.

But of course, this ain't no exit, naaah bro, this is a goblin camp, but not just any goblin camp, this camp is wrecked. The straw sheds look like they were ripped apart with claws, the training area filled with bodies, with all their body parts there, but ripped, shredded, gouged from their original position. Blood smears the ground, organs coming out from the bodies, some have their head crushed, some have hole through their body. It looks like whatever did this didn't do it for food, but for it's own entertainment.

*Crack*

The party turns toward the sound and readies their weapons. It was a goblin, but instead of the usual hostile behaviour, it looks eager to cooperate, a little fear, but mostly the desire to revenge.

"*** **** ** *****?" It asks.

"***** **** ******** ** ***** ******." And surprisingly, the swordsman know the language of goblins.

"*** ***** *** ** * *******!"

"** ***** ** *********."

As if feeling the stare of the others in the party, the swordsman says

"He said he knows the weakness of the Monkey. His comrades have all been killed by it so he wanted revenge."

After exchanging a few perplexed looks, the rest of the party agree to let the goblin follow.
