Since many of them had the ability to fly, the demons of the Abyss didn’t have the sort of problems that drove humans to create airships.
In addition, those that can’t fly don’t want to. The demons that live in the more primitive environments know that the creatures that live in the air tend to be more dangerous, so it wasn’t safe to go up.
Well, I won’t talk any more about the ecology of the creatures in the Abyss. Since most of us can’t fly, we used the demon’s inter-city portal to transfer over to the city closest to the attack city while the Demon King rode over on a dragon.
But it looks like the demon city hasn’t been throughly modernized. Although there are several types of modern buildings, but it looked like a three tier city. I don’t know if the materials were used incorrectly but there were even cracks in some of the buildings.
“Don’t let it bother you.”
Said the Demon King as we passed through the gate.
“It’s just some guy that likes to live in dirt. They made the room so humid that it started to fall apart.”
“This world has so many strange existences to take care of that it has to be hard for you.”
“Well......it’s fine. There are good and bad parts. It should have been a few decades ago when I had come down here, yep......”
“That would have been hundred of years in the Abyss. You’ve been here a long time.”
“It hasn’t been boring with the Seven Sins Sisters with me. And it’s taken 200 years to take over the Abyss so there isn’t boredom from not having anything to do.
“Hey, hey, hey, your boredom isn’t on the average level anymore is it?”
Most people only play a game for a few years but you’ve been playing a strategy game for 200 years? What gave you the conviction to last for so long? Is there anything that’s difficult for you?
“Because......”
She scratched her head.
“In the beginning I just happened to fall into the Abyss and eventually even the spawn point appeared down here. There’s nothing like missions, no, almost everything was missing, so the only thing I could do is spend every day farming! All of the strange creatures, all of the strange weaknesses, I recorded every feature of each map.”
......I suddenly realized that I was underestimating her. There’s a reason she became the Demon King.
“So after I unified the entire Demon Realm I wrote down all of the main points about the Abyss and handed it off to the army. It should be resolved pretty soon.”
“You’re too......”
Everyone listening felt embarressed.
“Ok, no more nonsense. We’re here.”
In the distance there was a huge fortress surrounded by unyielding grey walls......no, not the fortress, a pillbox on the wall.
I can even see a cannon muzzle pointing out of an opening on it.
And on the city wall there was a giant black gun......are you going to shoot birds with the cannon? Why not us an anti-aircraft machine gun?
I know you don’t have one though.
“Lord Demon King!”
Greed teleported next to us.
“The Undead Holy Angels have completed their attack. They dropped a large number of unintelligent skeletons into the city. While they’ve been wiped out, their large numbers allowed them to damage our backup facilities. We expect that they will launch their next attack in the afternoon.”
“Ah, I see. They’re using fodder to take out our long range weapons......what about our other weapons? Are they able to attack them at long range?”
“No, their forces are out of range. It seems that the first attack caused a significant amount of damage and they don’t want to attack us directly. Rather they are using air forces that are more difficult to target.”
“How about setting up an aerial mine field?”
Aliyah suddenly asked.
“It’d be like sky lanterns, so their air forces wouldn’t be able to come.”
“Delayed explosions won’t work so just release them when they show up.”
“Un......”
The Demon King gave it some thought and nodded.
“All right. Little Greed, make 500 sky lanterns. Show those bird people a good time.”
“......Lord, what are sky lanterns?”
Although Greed was wearing a mask I could imagine her look of confusion.
Heh......what are sky lanterns......hahahahaha
“Cough......”
The Demon King thought for a second, then got a piece of paper and began to draw on it. A minute later she handed it over.
“Just follow the picture, put a bomb in it with about a minute long fuse. Ok, go.”
Done, she immediately sent her away.
I’m a bit curious as to what she had drawn......
“Cough. It seems that they are going to attack in the afternoon. Let’s prepare for that.”
“Why are you being so defensive?”
“Because I’m too lazy to waste troops. Why throw my forces at them when I can use long range weapons?”
“It’s hard for you here to buy our railguns. You could teach those people how to behave in a minute.”
“Railguns? You’ve developed a lot of things......”
The Demon King shrugged.
“Well it doesn’t matter. It’s all the same.”
“Why are you using cannons? Isn’t magic more powerful?”
“That depends on the user’s visual ability. And even the long ranged magic doesn’t have the ability to shell.”
“Large scale magic? Even I can use ultra-long range, large scale attack magic.”
Things like Eternal Frozen Stream and Ice Dragon, while they obviously aren’t good against strong enemies, they are incredibly effective against common soldiers.
“Because......they have Lichs.”
The Demon King spread her hands.
“What ever you send out they can undo, can you believe it?”
“......”
What the hell?
“Do you want to try it? Anyways, we’re in a standoff.”
