Chapter 20: Chapter 19 – Catgirl prays to the Goddess

The Temple of Aquilonyan is actually quite small. There is just a hall room for praying. The other rooms are closed. A statue of the Goddess is placed in the middle of the room, surrounded by statues of several past DeathWhizkersz. 

And just as expected, the Goddess is also a catgirl. 

Lizz steps in front of the statue, crosses both hands on her chest, kneels down, and starts praying. So, that's how the people in this world would pray. Therefore, you copy Lizz and do the same. 

“Dear Goddess Aquilonyan, the Holy Ruler of the Northern Lands,we are thankful for your daily blessings and protections.” Lizz has already closed her eyes. “Today, I bring Felicia, your dear and beautiful DeathWhizkersz. Please, Goddess, I do pray that you would give us grace, and bless Felicia with a happy life. For unknown reasons, she has lost her memories and power. So, you return to your position and decide to say your prayer properly this time. You will say it out loud, so that Lizz can hear it too.

“Dear Goddess Aquilonyan, the Holy Ruler of the Northern Lands…”

Suddenly, the pendant on your neck glows brightly. It is the one which belonged to the past Felicia.

And soon, she too, realizes it.

A giant, dark silhouette enters the temple.

Its body doesn’t have a definite form, but rather, a blob of bubbling mud. It’s constantly changing, and morphing into different grotesque forms.   

Then, it settles with a somewhat humanoid form with arms and claws, and has formed scales. It’s tall and big, at least three times the height of you.

Based on what Lizz told you earlier, you already have an idea about its identity. A monster who can change form due to its liquid body, and carries an unbearable smell.

A Corruptor? Must be it. 

But… aren’t they just monsters of the past? The people here already got rid of them!
