Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Kyu Hyun chuckled as he held Chang Min’s hand. He was shaking as they waited for the fairy to arrive on Jeju Island.

They were still sitting in the car and he said, “Do you want to go for a walk?”

Chang Min shook his head, “No, I’m fine.”

Kyu Hyun didn’t believe him. He climbed out of the car and walked over to Chang Mum’s side. Opening the door, he said, “Get out.”

Chang Min reluctantly did as he said.

Locking the car, Kyu Hyun took him by the hand and said, “Let’s go handsome, you need to cool down.”

Chang Min groaned, “Are you seriously going to walk around holding my hand? You know people are going to look at us.”

“Like I care.” he winked and kissed Chang Min’s hand.

“So what’s bugging you?” He asked.

Looking at him, Chang Min whined, “I haven’t been home for so long. I’m nervous.”

Kyu Hyun stopped and pulled him in for a hug. Rubbing his hand up and down his back, he said, “You are stressing yourself out for nothing. I’m sure nothing has changed besides the fact that everyone has aged.”

Pouting, he said, “I don’t understand how you can be so calm.”

“Well, I’m not going there to catch on to shit. We’re going to celebrate, and maybe from today onwards, we’ll pay your parents a visit more often.”

Kyu Hyun cupped his cheeks and kissed him on the lips. Just then they heard screaming and the screeching of tyres.

Kyu Hyun looked behind Chang Min to see what the commotion was about and it made his eyes widen.

“Chang Min,” he called and jumped to the side as he held him in a suffocating hug.

A truck with fish in it had lost control on the road. It came rushing towards them but thankfully, with Kyu Hyun’s quick reflexes, they got away.

Chang Min’s heart was racing. He looked back to see what was going on and saw the truck rushing away in a zig-zag pattern, leaving skid marks behind. 

“Are you okay?” A woman asked after rushing over.

Chang Min sat up and looked around him. He looked down at Kyu Hyun, that was still lying on the ground and paled when he saw the blood pooling under his head.

“Kyu Hyun, Kyu Hyun,” he called to him, but he wasn’t responding.

“Call, call an ambulance,” the lady screamed that came to see if they were alright.

Chang Min was frozen where he sat. He stared at Kyu Hyun’s body, that seemed lifeless and didn’t know what to say or do.

No Min and Young Soo walked into the room. Kyu Hyun and Chang Min were lying in.

They saw Chang Min crawled up in a ball, crying under the sheets, and on the other side, Kyu Hyun’s head was wrapped in bandages.

No Min walked up to the bed followed by his wife and he pulled the sheet off of Chang Min.

Chang Min caught a fright, but when he saw it was No Min, he sat up on the bed.

No Min could see that Chang Min was distraught and hugged him. “Everything will be okay.”

Digging his fingers into his shirt, Chang Min whispered, “I told him I didn’t want to go for a walk, but he didn’t listen to me…”

“Okay, okay,” No Min hushed him as he broke out in tears.

Young Soo felt tears falling down her cheeks as she looked at Chang Min. She couldn’t deny it that her heart was breaking while listening to him cry.

She walked up to the bed and sat down asking, “Ar, are you and the baby okay?”

Chang Min went silent, registering her words. He pulled away from the hug and looked at her oddly. Nodding his head slowly, he said, “Kyu Hyun moved us out of the way before the truck could hit us.”

She nodded her head slowly and wiped her tears away. Getting up, she walked over to the bed and looked at her son.

He looked so pitiful, yet peaceful.

One month later…

Chang Min woke up to the sound of a door slamming closed. The pain in his stomach had gotten stronger. 

Young Soo told him to sleep it off, but it wasn’t helping.

‘I need to pee,’ he thought.

Climbing out of bed, he made his way to the toilet and felt his pants behind. It felt wet. ‘Am I too late for the toilet?’

After emptying his bladder, he leaned over to flush and saw something odd. Looking down into the toilet bowl, his eyes widened in shock. The water was red and he could see slimy bits inside it.

Rushing to the mirror, he turned around to see why it felt wet and the pink tracksuit pants he had on were soaked in blood.

He immediately panicked and rushed to his old room. He had been living with the Im couple since he was hospitalised and things weren’t easy for him with the tension in the air.

Young Soo was supposed to be here, and from the silence in the house, he knew she was gone.

Grabbing his phone, he tried to call No Min’s number, but the blood on his hands from squeezing his pants didn’t even allow him to unlock the phone.

Panicked, Chang Min tried to wipe the phone and his hands, but the phone slipped out from between the sheets he was using and fell on the floor, sliding under the bed.

Kneeling down, he looked underneath the bed and saw that his phone was in the middle of the queen sized bed.

Chang Min grew anxious and got up. He remembered that Kyun Hyun’s phone was in the safe and as he ran to the master bedroom; he recalled he didn’t know the code.

Walking to the kitchen dejectedly, he went to get a glass of water and as he was drinking it; he saw the panic button on the wall. Placing the glass down, he rushed to it and pressed it.

Not long after, there was a car outside the yard at the gate.

Locking the house, he input the security code and walked to the gate. Before the man could speak, he said, “I need to go to the hospital. Can you take me? There’s no one here and I can’t drive.”

The man deactivated the siren in the house with a remote and said, “Come.”

Chang Min was wrapped in a blanket and was pale, so the man didn’t mind.

He looked at Chang Min in the review mirror and saw that he was crying.

Calling it in, he let his work know if the situation he was in.
