They had only travelled a meter or two after walking out of the office when Gu Nian ran up to Luo Xiu with a troubled look.
“Mr. Luo Xiu, please do not misunderstand.”
Luo Xiu turned toward her, his brown eyes tender like jade. “Misunderstand what?”
“I really, really don’t resent you,” said Gu Nian seriously.
Luo Xiu nodded. “I know.”
“… … Oh?”
Gu Nian had prepared a very verbose speech in mind to convince him. She didn’t think Luo Xiu would have responded so lightly.
She looked up in surprised and tried to look into Luo Xiu’s eyes.
Unfortunately, the man had turned back around before she was able to do that. His voice nonchalant, “You love you boyfriend a lot and didn’t want him to misunderstand… I heard all of it.”
Gu Nian nodded with a guilty conscience. “Right. You have no idea, Mr. Luo Xiu. My boyfriend is a very jealous person.”
“I can see that,” said Luo Xiu.
“Alright, I am glad we have this clarified.”
That being said, Gu Nian, nevertheless, felt that Luo Xiu’s voice was, inexplicably…. Getting colder.
And seemed to continue to get colder as time went on.
Did that mean that her precious son still felt that she was being resentful toward him?
Wuwuwu, that was really not the case. Son, you must trust your mom. It isn’t that mom doesn’t love you, but that is immoral!
We couldn’t!
“You said you have urgent matters to attend to back in the office?”
Luo Xiu’s abrupt voice brought Gu Nian out of her trance.
Recollecting herself, Gu Nian looked up abruptly. “Oh, yes. There is this one thing that I need to take care of before our last day here. Else it will be too late.”
Watching how the girl went from languid dispirited to languid viciousness, the coldness in Luo Xiu started to go away.
Even though he was well aware of what she had been working on in the production team the last few days, Luo Xiu still asked innocently, “Oh, what is it?”
Gu Nian struggled for a little bit and gave him the honest answer. “It is about the rumor that was being passed around the production team not too long ago.”
Luo Xiu nodded, “You mean, the one about me being fond of you.”
Gu Nian, “… …”
Tears streamed down Gu Nian’s cheeks.
Son, how could you make such a terrifying statement in such a casual way?
Luo Xiu turned toward her and smiled at her with a tender look. “It’s just rumors. You can just leave it alone.”
“No, I can’t!”
“Why not?” Luo Xiu’s smile seemed to have gotten more tender. “Are you worried that your very jealous boyfriend will get jealous if he catches wind of it/”
“… Oh?” The topic had switched so abruptly that Gu Nian was taken aback a little. “Oh, yeah. That’s part of it. But more about Mr. Luo Xiu.”
“Oh?”
Gu Nian decided to give her precious son, who remained a naïve, Foolish, Fair and Sweet even after joining the entertainment circle, a serious talking to. She didn’t want him to be trick by others from being too much of a naïve, Foolish, Fair, and Sweet.
“Mr. Luo Xiu, rumors can be very terrifying in our circle. Sometimes, it can even kill. In particularly, public opinions can, through rumors, bend the truth however they like; use justice as a shield; or exude their maximum maliciousness fearlessly while relying on the idea that not any one individual can be held accountable.
“It could seep not all aspects of your life and destroy everything that you have once understood along with all of your relationships. And those who wanted to protect you would also become targets. Those who wanted to voice their neutral opinion would also be criticized and eventually disappear from the picture. And then all these will be left with unrivaled hostility.
“And when that time comes…”
Gu Nian slowly let out a sigh.
There seemed to be some unspeakable gloominess in the deepest part of her eyes but they disappeared quickly.
Gu Nian looked up, “Once things get to that point, then ruining a person will be as easy as smashing a mug.”
