Gu Nian couldn’t opine on the western food of XingYue Hotel but their spoons were truly polished till they were very shiny.
The silver light poured from the handle to the bowl of the spoon and pooled into a shallow shadow. It was so bright that it could be used as a mirror. Not only could it reflect oneself, it could also reflect the silhouette from two to three meters behind.
Lin Nantian laid out her napkin, looked up, and saw Gu Nian staring intensely at the spoon.
Lin Nantian pursed her lips in distaste. “This is like looking at an image that had been pixelated ten times. What could you possibly see?”
Gu Nian, “His outline.”
Lin Nantian, “Outline? Aren’t they all the same with the exception of height and body size?”
“Very different. The ratio between the shoulders, waist, butt, and legs are very important. Too much or not enough are unacceptable.” Gu Nian corrected her.
“Shoulders, waist, butt, and legs? Are you some sort of a female hooligan? With such high standards, are you sure you can find someone that meets your criteria?”
Gu Nian looked up proudly. “From eyeballing alone, my son is very perfect – he’s like the walking David statue.”
“David? You mean the naked statue located in the Academy of Fine Arts of Florence?”
Gu Nian, “……”
Gu Nian looked numbly over at Lin Nantian and straight into her eyes.
There were a few seconds of silence in the air.
Gu Nian, “You can insult art; but you can’t insult my son.”
Lin Nantian chuckled, “Alright. Alright. I was wrong. But I still don’t believe that you son has the body of David.”
Gu Nian, “It’s true!”
Lin Nantian, “Then he must be very ugly.”
Gu Nian, “My. Son. Is. Exceptionally. Handsome!”
Lin Nantian counted with her fingers in disgust. “His build is exceptionally well and he is exceptionally handsome. If he is truly how you’ve described him, he’d be super popular by now. How is it possible that he was still an 180th-tier actor who didn’t even have a wiki entry?”
“… I have the exact same question.”
Her biggest sore spot being poked at, Gu Nian bathed in an old mother’s sorrow.
She didn’t have too much time to feel sorrowful when the other party of the arranged date returned.
The man who returned was 1.8 meter in height. He had on a blue sports jacket and his linen-colored hair was slightly curly. He also has a pair of expressive, cherry-blossom eyes.
Gu Nian did not show a lot of interest – she was more interested in the bird that just flew past the window than men other than her son.
Lin Nantian took her role as the image ambassador of this arranged date very seriously. She turned and grumbled to Gu Nian while the other party stopped to talk to the server, “The matchmaker was being too humble. This is no ordinary look, right?”
“Mmmhmm.”
“Is it because he is too overly handsome? Is that why he looked flighty to me when he smiles?”
“I guess so.”
Gu Nian responded to her in an inattentive and perfunctory way and, noticing that it had gotten quiet next to her, immediately became more alert and focused and quietly turned back around.
She saw that Lin Nantian was staring at her intensely.
Gu Nian lifted up the corners of her mouth and gave her a little fairy’s smile. “Something’s the matter?”
Lin Nantian snapped her fingers expressionlessly. “If I notice that you are being perfunctory toward this arranged date, I will have no choice but to cause your little actor some trouble.”
Gu Nian held onto Lin Nantian’s hand and said with utmost sincerity, “I won’t. I promise.”
Lin Nantian finally nodded satisfactorily.
For the sake of not bringing about troubles for her precious son, Gu Nian turned back around and started self-hypnotism.
By the time Gu Nian had finally got into the role and looked up with a tender smile, her date with cherry blossom eyes had returned and sat down in front of her.
The talk between the two parties had begun.
Cherry-blossom Eyes said his name was Josh and had returned from studying abroad.
After he sat down, he threw out a question absent-mindedly, “What is your current profession, Miss Gu?”
Gu Nian lowered her head, making herself seem tender. “I am a screenwriter.”
