Chapter 51 - “Do you wish to be in a relationship, Mr. Luo Xiu?” (2)
Geng Hongyu crossed his arms in front of him as he looked at the monitor expressionlessly. He then turned to the 1.6-meter girl standing next to him.
“So this is what you meant by his acting skill has exploded?”
Gu Nian: T ^ T
Sure enough, her precious son’s acting skill was as fleeting as her inspirations.
But Gu Nian did not give up. She rubbed her face and reignited her hope. “Director Geng, even though you didn’t see the epitome of his acting, but don’t you think this shot is good enough?”
Assistant Director Lin chuckled next to her. “Oh, no need to be so humble. Your crash course worked pretty well. We can almost call it decent performance.”
Gu Nian was very appreciative. “Thank you for complimenting him, Assistant Director Lin. Luo Xiu is truly talented. All he needs is guidance.”
Assistant Director Lin, “I was complimenting you.”
Gu Nian automatically filtered that out. She turned toward Geng Hongyu with a smile. “What’s your thought on that, Director Geng?”
Geng Hongyu, “Mmm. Lao Lin was right. I would almost call it ‘fair’. Half of the credit, though, goes toward the idea of his new makeup – I heard that the idea of the blood-red youtanhau on his forehead was your idea? That was a pretty good idea.”
Gu Nian, “……”
It was very obvious that the little girl’s eye went from a burning sensation all the way to the bottom of a valley. Seeing that, Assistant Director Lin was so angry that he laughed out loud, “You really like this Luo Xiu that much? Is he really that good looking?”
Gu Nian replied reflexively. “Naturally, Mr. Luo Xiu is very good looking. But that isn’t why I like him…”
“Did you hear that, Luo Xiu?”
“……”
Gu Nian choked back her word and turned toward the direction that Assistant Director Lin was talking in. Sure enough, she saw Luo Xiu walking toward her.
He stopped next to her, remaining a polite distance from her.
“Hear what?”
“Gu Nian was just saying how you are the best looking one. She didn’t even care when I complimented her. She was only happy when I complimented you.”
Ever since Luo Xiu had walked over, Gu Nian had been twisting her head to glance at her precious son’s modern-day outfit. She had a disappointed look on her – without the blood-red youtanhua, there was no more seductive feel left on her son.
Was it really a mistake on her part? That there was no look or tone or acting. It was all because of the makeup and the wig?
As Gu Nian was spacing out, Luo Xiu happened to catch sight of her look while he turned his head. He was standing side by side with Geng Hongyu in front of the screen and Geng Hongyu was pointing at the replay of the scene earlier; clearly, he was giving Luo Xiu some pointers on his acting.
Their eyes met for a little and Luo Xiu turned away after nodded at her slightly.
Gu Nian hesitated for a little bit and asked Assistant Director Lin, “This is Yun Tan’s modern look?”
“Mmhmm, he completed the previous life scenes already. We will finish up the rest of his solo shots for the modern time and we can start with the remaining scenes of him and the others tomorrow.”
Having said that, Assistant Director Lin looked over at Luo Xiu who was standing several meters away from him.
Luo Xiu was in a suit right now with his original golden-rimmed spectacles. His tie and shirt buttons were impeccable and he came with a clear and cold reserved feel.
Assistant Director Lin looked back, pleased. “Looks good. What don’t you like about it?”
Gu Nian lifted her hands and gestured over Luo Xiu from a distance. “Don’t you feel the discrepancies there? Yun Tan should be more of a black-bellied character clothed in a scholarly appearance.”
“Boy, oh, boy. The terms that you youngsters use nowadays. That’s so descriptive – so, what is it? You don’t feel that the suit is scholarly enough?”
“Oh, it is. Perhaps too excessively so?”
Assistant Director Lin chuckled. “Screenwriter Zhuo had been somewhat busy lately and hasn’t been around much. You are the acting screenwriter right now and what you say carries a lot of weight. Plus, I trust that you can tell by now that Director Geng’s attitude towards you had changed since he saw you edited script – perhaps he will even ask to work with you directly in the future.”
Gu Nian found the troublesome. “No need to compliment me. I’m just expressing my opinion on it was all.”
Having said that, Gu Nian tried to sneak away before Assistant Director Lin, who loved talking her up, carried on. Unfortunately, she had just turned around when she heard Assistant Director Lin smiled and said in an even tone, “If you don’t get involved and Luo Xiu does a bad job at it. He is the one who will be ridiculed.”
“… … … …”
Gu Nian turned back around with tears in her eyes and her teeth gritted. She forced a fairy-like smile on herself and said, “You are so right. I am the acting screenwriter and it is my responsibility to offer my opinion on the look of character.”
