Looking at the package that arrives at my house, if I have to point out the weirdest thing about it would be the name of the recipient. It was written as Saros instead of Reiner despite it being sent to me two days after that poisoning incident by my Mom. This package was sent while I'm in a comatose state.

Nobody should know the name Saros at that point, because I only submit my name change form more than a week after I'm being discharged from the hospital. This means the person who sent this package to me knows my name from my previous life. only that guy with golden hair and golden eyes in that white room fit the description. I'm looking at the sender info and it was only written the name "Heidi" on it. which is probably his name.

I'm opening the package without hesitation and found something that I initially thought was a digital watch but it turns out to be a wristband scanner, along with it there was also an instruction manual for the scanner, a registration form, a brochure, and a golden-colored magnetic card.

There's no letter or anything inside the package, which means that time in the white room, he's planning to explain to me directly what I'm supposed to do with these items.

I'm checking the brochure and saw the illustration of some anime characters dressed as witches and wizards, and a title is written: "Sorcerers of the Luminaries" at the near bottom. my gaze shifted to the left side of the brochure and there are 7 orbs with each has its own colors and symbol. I remember the symbols after some pondering. Those are the exact same symbols as the ones from my previous life. It's symbols for the classical planets7 biggest astronomical objects that are visible from the earth without using any powered telescope. even though it was called "planets" it also included Sun and Moon into the category. on the right side, there's a QR code and an URL below it. since I didn't have a smartphone yet I just glance at the URL and plan to visit it later using my dad's computer.

The registration form is just something that requires me to fill in my name and such, the wristband scanner and the magnetic card don't seem to provide any more clues either. and by the way, I called it a magnetic card because the card looks exactly like the usual ATM card, except there doesn't seem to be any magnetic strip in it.

so I go to my parent's or maybe it's my room from now on to access my dad's computer and start browsing more info about this Sorcerer of Luminaries thing.

at first, I thought this was some kind of e-sports game. turns out this is actually some very intricate trading card game genre that uses the internet and scanner to keep track of the player records and all. Apparently, that wristband scanner is something that is used by professional players to update their data. such as registering cards they just acquired, duel authentication, and it can even serve as an entry pass for some official Luminaries Center. it makes me awed at how high-tech this game publisher goes just for their game system.

I haven't even looked at the game mechanics yet, but the more I learned about this game, the more ridiculous it looks. It's a game that only premiered nearly 4 years ago, but almost- or even maybe every country in this world has a huge enough fandom for this game that they held an official tournament at least thrice a month at a city, and there's usually more than a thousand participant for the capital. Each of the participants is required to have this high-tech wristband scanner and apparently, winning some of those official matches could raise your player rank and makes you entitled to receive a yearly salary. What surprised me the most is that since almost 2 years ago, reaching a certain rank in this game is actually eligible to make you apply to lots of professions.  which makes this card game isn't just pop culture anymore, It already become a standard issue.

"Did that guy back there want me to participate in a certain tournament or something?" I mutter under my breath.

Being a professional SoL player is pretty much as equivalent to having a special pedigree from my previous world. It's not that I need to play this game for the rest of my life, but being able to reach a certain rank apparently could prove as having enough capability as a person to achieve things. And that's the way this world works. It is just logical to ride with the flow assuming that I would be good at it. But this reminds me of that guy in the white room who seems like his name is Heidi.

I certainly didn't trust Heidi, but looking at the situation it's most probably he was telling the truth back then. The body from my previous world is already dead, so now I have no choice but to continue living on with this life whether I like it or not. So I have to start planning what I'm going to do from now on, especially with having a huge debt waiting for me in the near future. And the solution is currently staring at me right in front of my face. The only question that remained is how safe it is to go this way.

I don't mind doing the things he wanted me to do as long as our interests align, but I really need to stay alert so that he isn't using me as he pleases. The last thing I want from people like him is when they started to think that they own me or something, assuming that they are entitled to order me to do a ridiculous task no matter how absurd it is.

weighting between the pros and cons of registering as a SoL player, after days of research of the game mechanic and such. I finally decided that having a shot at this game is the better choice. The main reason is because of the golden magnetic card that comes along with the package.

I'm already expecting that the wristband scanner would cost a sum, but what I didn't know is to even register as a rookie, the lowest rank of professional SoL player. it requires a player to have at least 500 authentic battle records, referrals from at least 3 official Luminaires Center, and tedious exams about the game mechanic. Not to mention the prize for registering is actually quite a sum of money judging from my standard. so If someone registers through the normal way, they have to do all that, and then pay 800 zenny for the registration fee, and then they will receive 500 Luna credits so they can be eligible to participate in the official tournament. it's a very tedious and expensive procedure and this is where the golden magnetic card comes in.

The golden magnetic card can be said as a special referral proof from the board member of SoL official, using that to register to exempt me from all those tedious requirements and let me register as a Rookie rank along with extra 2500 Luna credits and 35 booster packs. it's basically a capitalist route for the privileged kids, except this referral isn't something that can be bought with money alone, it requires a special connection as well.

it seems like for some reason Heidi is connected to the top management of SoL, he has enough privilege to acquire this golden magnetic card and he gives it to me of all people, someone that he never talked to before. so it's either the referral is something that is easy to procure for him, or he just assumes that I would gratefully accept it. Judging from the way he spoke, it is most probably the latter.

Heidi for certain is not a mortal, for him to be able to drag me from another universe is more than enough proof. but the real question is why he wanted me to play SoL? His attitude back then isn't one of sincerity, it was a calculative act trying to curry me a favor. This means I'm playing this game would work to his benefit, but why? There are lots of possibilities, but my hunch is saying Heidi actually has a lower position than SoL's top management and said management order him to find a player to which Heidi choose me, hence why the word "representative".

I'm massaging my temple holding my headache, this conjecture is most probably just a leapt of logic, but if I were right that means the whole SoL game here is actually managed by Gods themselves. that is a serious food for thought.

Well, either way. throwing away all of these benefits is such a waste, might as well put it to good use for my own gain. I'm might be also helping him by doing this, but I don't really care. the worst-case scenario is that he comes at me and demands me to do his task which I never agreed to, when that happens I'll just throw the wristband scanner to his face and find another job. I highly doubt that would happen though.

and then I heard the sounds from the intercom of the train

"Attention to passengers, we will arrive at Grain station soon. please give ways for the embarking passengers. be sure to not leave your belonging behind."

the sounds of the intercom cut me off from me trying to recap my whole situation, it seems like I'm almost arriving at my destination. I move towards the train's door and wait to embark. the Luminaire Center I'm about to go to is indeed quite far from my home, but it's the biggest Center in this city which bounds to have lots of cards that I needed for my deck building. it's also the best place to look for people who might want to sell their unused cards for cheap prices.
