Chapter 4: Chapter 02 – A New Beginning

Harvey lays on the ground. He twitches his eyes and opens. 

“Argh! “

He then looks around. He seems to be in an old and scrawny house.

“ Wha-where am I? “

He got up and wandered around the house.

"What is this place?" he asked himself.

There are no people in sight. It’s just Harvey all alone by himself.

As he wandered around the basement, he noticed a distinguishable metal lever. He lowered it down and it opened a hidden passage and a door. 

 

He goes in and is shocked by what he sees - it's his room in his previous world.

"Wha- HOW?" 

Harvey then checks if it's really his room. The layout is the same, the orientation is the same, the books and computer are in the same place. Then he checks underneath his bed. He finds the Browning Hi-Power pistol case he got from his grandpa Alex.

"It's real. I can't believe that my room is here. But, how? Is this one of the angel’s tricks?"

Then, he heard a female voice again inside his head. It's the same as the angel's voice but the tone is different. It is robotic and monotone.

The female robotic voice then says:

 

"Welcome to the Overall System Assessment...."

"Harvey Tsiokovsky"

 

"What?" Harvey asked confusedly. 

After that, various huds and holograms suddenly came out one at a time with the female voice.

 

"Health and Medical Function System....."

*engaged*

"Reactive Armor System...."

*activated*

"Inventory Space System...."

*activated*

"Weapon Selection Interface...."

*activated*

"Military Development System...." 

*activated*

"Radar and Mapping System...."

*activated*

"Communication Based System...."

*online*

 

"Have..a..very..safe..day."

 

Astounded and shocked. Harvey asks himself:

"Wait, this looks kind of familiar. And why do I had this-"

Harvey then realized that the angel gave him a certain power which was based on what he had already known about in his previous life. 

"Huh. I guess this is what the angel was referring to "based on certain skills". Looks like she wants me to be at least comfortable in saving this another world".

"If i remembered correctly, the angel mentioned that this medieval world is "turbulent". Bummer. How do I fucking start then?"

He then checks his Inventory Space System.

"Let's see. What do we get her-"

His inventory was already full of kinds of armor, weapons, attachments, munitions, magazines, and even vehicles.

" *whistles* Wow. This is a nice armory I got here. Ms. Angel, I thank you. " 

"Aand, what about this  "Military Development System" ?"

He then checks his Military Development System.

It contains all various military development functions, like buildings, materials, equipment and tools, and other military logistics.

"Alrighty. But wait. Hm? What's this? “Spawn”? Can I spawn soldiers? What the fuck?"

He checked a manual and said that he needs to collect "Souls" in order to spawn a combatant or unit.

It also says that in order to get "Souls", Harvey must kill a living human.

And the “Souls” will be based the summon like this:

 

INFANTRY:

1 Soul = 5 Infantry

10 Souls = 100 Infantry

100 Souls = 2,000 Infantry

 

SPECIAL FORCES:

1 Soul = 1 SF

10 Souls = 20 SF

50 Souls = 200 SF

100 Souls = 500 SF

 

There is also a Promotion function. But Harvey will spawn a unit first before he could Promote him by also using “Souls”. 

OFFICERS (for Promotion Only):

50 Souls = Colonel ( Captain in Navy )

60 Souls = Brigadier General ( Commodore in Navy )

70 Souls = Major General ( Rear Admiral in Navy )

80 Souls = Lieutenant General ( Vice Admiral in Navy )

90 Souls = General ( Admiral in Navy )

100 Souls = General of the Army ( Fleet Admiral in Navy )

 

"I-I get it now. For me to spawn any unit, I would have to  gather “Souls” first, and then if I want to Promote them, it will also use “Souls?” Yeah. This will be a bloodbath then. I have to be careful in picking out my targets. "

Harvey then prepares for his first day in the other world.

He goes back to his Inventory Space System and gears up.

"Hmmm. Let me try some things to test this crap out. Hmm, what should I choose? Let’s see."

While browsing through his hud, whenever he chooses a gear, clothing, etc., it will automatically dress and be equipped for Harvey.

After some picking, he chose his loadout.

His chosen clothing and gears were:

- green bonnie hat

- protective shade goggles

- green hoodie and green cargo pants

- brown scarf

- knee and elbow pads

- binos

- khaki tactical vest

- khaki military bag

 

While his load-outs are:

- scoped and suppressed  M14 rifle w/ 4 spares of .308 NATO magazines

- M1911 Colt pistol w/ 2 spares of .45 ACP magazines

- M9 knife

After the gears up, he then checks the Radar and Mapping System. 

A wide rectangular map hud appears in front of him. The abandoned house seems to be located and built in a large forest where Harvey is now. 

In the map hud, in the middle, lies a blue dot that represents the user - Harvey.

By the upper-left corner of the map hud, there are legends to represent various living things that are only detectable within a 500m range in all directions by his radar.

 

The White Dots were Normal People/Civilians.

Brown Dots were Animals.

Blue Dots were Friendlies/Harvey’s Spawns.

And Red Dots were Enemies and Hostiles.

 

"Hmmm. Looks like I'm really the only person here huh." Harvey said to himself while looking around inside and outside of the house.

“ Meh. For now, I will go and grab something to eat. Too bad that foods aren’t available on this freaking hud system or whatsoever. I might also go look for someone to kill. Like a baddie thief or something. ” 

He then marked a location deeper inside the forest and headed outside. 

"Alright. Let's do this." as Harvey heads out to hunt and gather necessities.

After hours of gathering supplies and hunting animals, Harvey rested for a while. He gathered meats, hides, etc., and placed it all inside his Inventory Space System.

“ *yawns* What time is it now by the way? Oh, wait. Does this world also have the same time as in my world? “

Harvey then checks his Radar and Mapping System.

“ 24 hours also? I hope that this time is correct and relative to this world. But man, I think I might’ve been hunting for like five hours. And it’s getting dark. I better head back. “

But, as Harvey prepares to head back to his house, his radar notified him that there are two white dots approaching him from the south.

" The hell? " Harvey uttered.

Harvey then hides and waits. He lays himself on a high-level ground that overlooks the southern to the southwestern part area.

He first scans the area with his binoculars. While also keeping in check to his radar, as the two white dots slowly approaches him.

Then, after a couple of minutes, Harvey begins to see that the two white dots were a little girl with an older girl, running panicky in Harvey's direction. 

"What.The.Hell? They seem to be running from someone. ” Harvey whispered.

And then, a short while later, another notification from Harvey's radar pops out. There are other unknowns coming towards his place from the direction in which the two girls came from. 

"Five White Dots. And they are also coming towards here. This seems to be the people the girls were running from," Harvey whispered.

After a couple of seconds, the little girl slipped and cried. The older girl then came to aid her, but the five people caught up and surrounded them. 

"They look like bandits. What's up with them? Are they gonna take the girls?"

Bandit 1: "Hehehe. You aren't going to escape now."

Bandit 2: "Ahaha. Look at you two. Are you scared? Ahahaha"

Bandit 3: "Hey boss! These two are some nice goods! We can sell the little girl and have fun with the older one!"

Bandit 1: "Hmm. Yeah. That's a nice offer."

The two girls backed on a tree and hugged each other.

Little Girl: " *cries* I don't want to die! *cries* Mommy! Daddy!"

Older Girl: "STAY BACK! YOU FIENDS! GET AWAY FROM US!"

Harvey heard all of this. The fact that what would happen if those two girls were in the hands of the bandits enrages him.

At the same time, the five white dots on his radar quickly changed into red dots.

Reconfirming these were really bad guys, he aims his scoped and suppressed M14 rifle at the bandits.

*disengaged safety*

*sets in semi-auto*

*zeroed his scope*

*distance..50 meters*

*breathes in*

 

and then...

 

"Fuck you.." Harvey whispers as he fired his rifle.

 

*BANG!*

Bandit 2: "Huh? What's that sound?"

The bandit boss then dropped dead on the ground.

Bandit 4: "Huh? Boss?"

They saw a large hole and blood flowing out of their leader's head. 

Bandit 5: "Who-who did thi-" 

*BANG!*

*THUMP!*

The fifth bandit also dropped dead.

 

The bandits are very confused and scared as each of their members drop dead on the ground to an unknown force

Bandit 3: "WHA-WHAT'S HAPPENI-" *BANG!*

*drops dead*

 

Bandit 2: "COME ON! WE NEED TO GET OUT OF HE-" *BANG!* 

*drops dead*

 

Bandit 4: "Uhhhggghhh .WAAAAAAAA- " *BANG!* 

*drops dead*

...

...

...

After shooting off all of the bandits, Harvey checked his radar and only got the two white dots. It's clear.

But he didn't rely purely on his radar and went to do what he's trained to do.

Harvey doesn't holster his rifle, instead, he continues to aim at the bandit's location. 

He gets up, and then slowly approaches the bodies and puts another round on the head on each of them. 

As he finishes up, he goes where the two girls are, while on a firing stance, aiming around the area, checking around to see if there's any possible contact. He also continues to peek through his radar just to help him scan the area.

...

When he arrived at the tree where the two girls were, he crouched in front of them to provide cover, facing back, still on a firing stance and lookout. 

"Are you girls alright?" Harvey asked the two girls.

"Tha-thank you. Mister. We're fine." the older girl replied, still shaken while hugging the little girl.

"We need to move out. This isn't a safe place. There may be other bandits out there. Come on. Follow me." Harvey spoke.

But the two girls just stared at Harvey. With his weird-looking appearance, weird-looking weapon, they didn’t trust him.

Realizing that the girls won't move, Harvey assures them that he will not cause any harm to them.

“Just trust me ok? I won’t do anything to you girls. I promise. Hurry up! “

With no other choices left, the older girl obliges.

"O-okay" the older girl replied.

“SI-SISTER!” the young girl shouted as she hugged her elder sister.

“It’s okay. Let’s go out of here for now. Come on.”

The young girl then stands up and holds her elder sister’s hands firmly.

With this, Harvey then evacuates the two girls back to his house.

Minutes have passed, the three arrived at Harvey's house.

"Okay. You two can stay here." Harvey said to the two girls while checking the surrounding area.

The two girls first go inside the house, with Harvey being the last.

"Thank you mister." the older girl replied.

"Hehe. You can call me Sir Harvey. "

"O-okay Harvey. My name is Olivia and this is my sister Rosie."

"Hi there Rosie! My name's Harvey."

Rosie, hiding at the back of her sister, doesn't respond.

"I'm sorry. She's still quite shy and afraid." Olivia said.

"No no. It's alright. After what you guys have been through. There’s no blaming you girls."

They then went into the living room and had a chat.

“Are you really living by all yourself here, Sir Harvey?” Olivia asked Harvey.

"Yes. I just stumbled upon this building, so, yeah. What happened by the way to you girls?" Harvey asked.

"We-, our village got raided by bandits. We didn't get a chance to repel them down because they overpowered us quickly. They came out of nowhere, so our guards didn't have time to prepare.  Our parents died back there while protecting us. They defended us from those bandits. That's why we've escaped." Olivia said while tears came out of her eyes.

"I see. I’m very sorry for your loss." Harvey spoke in a sad voice.

Silence then envelopes in the room for a while.

"What was your village called?" Harvey asked.

"It's the village of Arksonville. It's on the southern edge of this forest." Olivia responded.

"Hmmm. I see." Harvey then opens his map hud on Radar and Mapping System and enlarges it.

The two girls widened their eyes in disbelief. 

"Whooaa." Rosie bewilderedly said.

"Wha-what's that, Sir Harvey?" Olivia asked.

"Hmm. Oh yeah. This is just a map. I invented it. “

*I mustn't say that I received this from an angel or else...I should be careful from now on using this power.* Harvey thought to himself.

"That's awesome! You can see the whole continent!" Olivia said.

"Hehe. Yeah. So, can you please introduce me to what countries, states, and continents are there? Cause truth be told, I slept for a very long, long period and didn't remember what this place is. " Harvey requested Olivia.

"Huhh, oh okay. Starting off, where you are right now is in the middle of the forest called The Gargan Forest. The ocean that surrounds the continent is called Amplus Ocean."

"On the northwestern part of the continent, is the Pharaonia Empire. It's mostly a desert country but they are famous for their triangle structures. They said that it is used to contain dead rulers and high-ranking people. This is also the place where many of the slaves are from."

"On the north is the Blaide Ridge. It's a series of mountain ridges that separate the Pharaonia Empire and the Babilon country. 

The Babilon is at this northeastern part *points the country on the map*. It's a country composed of wealthy merchants, rich aristocrats and their infamous places are its gardens and red districts. It doesn't have a clear ruler."

"Our town is part of the territory of the Almeda Kingdom. The Almeda Kingdom is in this southern part. *points the country on the map*. It is led by King Galian. We don't trust that bastard because all he ever did was invoke high taxes on us, abuse the system, and corrupt with other officials. He doesn't care about the poor ones. That's why our town got easily captured by bandits."

"The western part is the Lopu Sea *points in map*. Here lies the main sea trades of the two countries - Pharaonia Empire and Almeda Kingdom."

"The sea that's between the Almeda Kingdom and Riman Nation is the Sea of Numanei. It's the sea trademarks of the two countries."

"And finally, the Riman Nation that's on the eastern part. *points the country on the map*. They're considered to be the strongest country in this world. Their armed forces are much greater and trained than those three countries combined. You don't want to get in trouble with them."

"Hmm? Why is that?" Harvey asked.

"Because they're merciless. Merciless and brutal than those bandits. When they go to war, they won't leave a single enemy alive." Olivia replied.

"They even destroy towns with innocent peoples inside, for the sake of their country and pride. If ever that town has also children living in it."

"That's....harsh." Harvey said in a sad expression.

"Okay. I got it now. I’m surprised that you’ve got a wide knowledge about this continent. Thanks for that Olivia."

"Yo-your welcome, Sir Harvey. It’s just that I’ve known all of these because my father was a sailor back then and he would often tell stories and news about what he could gather. My mother was also a merchant and had relations outside of our village."

“I see. Thanks again for the information, and for your parents, Olivia. “

“No problem, Sir Harvey. I’m glad that I can help.”

It's now evening.

Harvey then prepares his gathered meat from his hunting to dinner in the kitchen. He prepares the deer steak and boar steak, with spices he also picked.

"OLIVIA! ROSIE! DINNER IS READY" Harvey shouted.

The two then arrived at the kitchen. They are amazed to see such new dishes served on the table.

“Wooow! These all taste delicious!” Rosie cheered.

“Did you cook these dishes, Sir Harvey?” Olivia asked.

“Why yes! Hahaha. Go on! Have a taste!” Harvey said to the two girls.

As the two girls sat and ate, they were making delightful faces because the dishes were so delicious that they made the two girls eat nonstop. 

"Haha. Hey hey, slow down you two. You guys might get choked." Harvey said to the two.

After dinner, Harvey arranges his room to be used for the two girls to sleep. 

He then tells the two girls that his room is where they will be sleeping.

"Waaaoow!" as Rosie looked around in astonishment.

"What's all this stuff, Sir Harvey?" Olivia asked.

"Hmm? well.." 

Harvey then proceeds to explain everything inside his room. The tv, computer, gadgets, clock, etc.

...

After all of the explanations, he then tells them to sleep after reading books and magazines.

"But, where will you sleep, Sir Harvey?" Olivia asked.

"Hmm? Don't worry. I will arrange a bed nearby. This place isn't comfy so I will help myself to do some adjustments." Harvey replied.

"Oh Okay. Good night, Sir Harvey." Olivia said.

"Goo-good night Mr.Harvey!" Rosie also shyly said.

"Haha. Good night you two." 

As Harvey closed the door, unbeknownst to the two girls, Harvey already had a plan to scout the Arksonville to search for survivors and intelligence.

As he walked into an empty room...

"Alright. Time to do some work..."
