“And just look at this woman here, Mayor Liu. Aye, this artist’s brushstrokes were arguably magical. She was magnificent and so realistic looking.”
Gu Jiangxin looked up and saw Mayor Liu with his face beet red. He felt odd about it.
He must like ink painting a lot.
Just rubbing his palms together was not enough to express his excitement. He had to slam on the table.
He was, after all, only 40 years old. Still a bit on the young side.
Gu Jiangxin snickered to himself but he maintained his smile. “And just look at this red peony in her hair. You can even see the textures on the flower petals in a freestyle painting. This is simply awesome!”
Mayor Liu was about to explode!
“Yes, sure it was an incredible peony… flower!”
The last word came out of him through gritted teeth.
This peony never existed!
One could only somewhat see the back of the woman in the painting.
And the bright red flower in her hair was placed above her forehead. The artist painted that directly on the mirror!
Flower in the mirror!
Mayor Liu gritted his teeth.
If it wasn’t for the bamboo forests on both side of the painting and the water stain on the ground, he would not have associated it with carrying water in a bamboo bucket.
And, if it wasn’t for the water in bamboo bucket, the woman with flower in her hair in the mirror was surely gorgeous looking… …
Nevertheless, when these two images were put together, they were just mocking him that all of his work would be in vain and he would end up with nothing!
He then looked at the caption to one side—
[Happy events between the purple and green leaves]
The cursive writing was beautiful. It was willful and chic. Each of the strokes, however, came straight Mayor Liu like sharp knives!
Mayor Liu saw black out of his eyes and his body almost rocked!
These were quoted from Su Shi’s Sandy Creek Washers. “High rise floated among the purple and green leaves; happy events are rarely perfect.”
High rises stood in between mountains and surrounded by fog. In the history of time, good things and good times are always mutually exclusive.
Even his daughter knew this. She had recited that for her class just a few days ago!
It was a poem that described blue mood with a happy scene!

It was about disappointments, sadness, and miseries!
“Great! Very well!”
Mayor Liu gritted his teeth.
He had put so much thought into this great gift to him!
What a magnificent threat!
“I’m glad you like it, Mayor Liu. I wish you luck in your…”
Gu Jiangxin was full of smile.
“Yes, Gu Jiangxin, I was the one who gave the order to look into Jingde Realtor! But I can tell you in no uncertain terms right now that this investigation will not be called off. I will leave no rocks unturned!” said Mayor Liu to him bluntly.
The smile froze on Gu Jiangxin instantly!
“Wha, what? Mayor, Mayor Liu?”
“You watch your steps!”
Mayor Liu hrumphed loudly before he turned and left, his face darkened.
“Mayor Liu, this is a misunderstanding! Am I not sharing this piece of artwork with you?”
Cold sweat broke out of Gu Jiangxin instantly.
What was going on?
Something went wrong!
But what went wrong?!
He couldn’t quite figure it out. Did Mayor Liu not want the gift from him? And he had misread it all?
Or did he not want to accept the gift at his daughter’s school?
“Mayor Liu, I will bring this painting with me then. Don’t be upset!”
Mayo Liu paid him no attention. He had already walked out of the door, snickering.
Gu Jiangxin seriously thought he was going to accept that painting?
What he supposed to hang it up on the wall so he could look at his threat day in and day out?!
What a jerk!
Gu Jiangxin had no idea that a severe label had already been placed on him.
He dared not run after Mayor Liu. It would be bad if anyone else saw the two of them tugging at each other in the hallway. Mayor Liu would for sure never forgive him for that!
