Chapter 10: (S1) Ch9: Symbolic savior

World: Alestra

Kingdom of Warldome, located at the west of the Human continent. A large, prominent, strong and growing country that is the closest to the Demon continent. Even so, the people lives in harmony because the whole kingdom is favored by the gods. No one felt fear for the past years of peace, as everyone are blessed... though, that's only on the surface.

"Please, you don't need to trouble yourself, sir hero." Said by a knight in a light armor. He is talking to the well known hero, in a hallway with stone as an exterior. He may be acting tough, but he is very delighted to meet an aspiring figure. Of course, Linel already expected it. "We can handle it ourselves."

"Don't worry, just this once. I won't really interfere in the work of the knights." Linel replied as he patted his shoulders. So, the knight was nervous. "You guys are having a hard time right? Also, it's my position to help others."

"...if that's the case, then please feel free to do so, we would be very thankful." The knight added, as Linel asks. "Anyways, it's my first time seeing you here, what's your name?"

"It's Luke sir." He saluted.

"I see, so Luke, thank you very much." Linel said, while Luke asked. "Why are you thanking me sir?"

"Nothing."

In an underground base, there are cells around, with two prisoners held in each. All are little girls that has cat ears, wearing clothes that looks like rags, and a collar. An act that is illegal inside the kingdom.

"Slavery is a form of sacrilege. The sight of piles of riffraff are a menace to the glorious kingdom of Warldome. Punishment is unavoidable to those who brakes the law." Luke looked coldly at the group of thugs tied in a rope. He ordered some of his men. "Take them away now."

Luke's group consist of six knights. The four is about to escort the captured thugs out, but Linel signalled them abruptly, so they all stopped. "Wait."

"...is there a problem sir?"

Linel didn't reply, he just walks closer to a cell. He used some white flames to burn the bars, making it vanish.

He crouched down and did a smile that can put anyone at ease. His next words are... "You're a demon."

He roughly grabs a slave girl by her mouth, and also burned her whole using the same flames. Not even an ash remained. All of them was shocked, so to put them at ease, Linel added. "Sorry for that display, but she was a demon disguising as a beast kin."

"I-is that so...thank god the hero is with us." The knights are relived.

"That's right, everyone is safe if I am here, so as the hero, I deem you all as demons as well." When Linel spoke those words, everyone in the room except him started burning. However, instead of vanishing in a second, they screamed, squirmed on the floor, being tortured. "I won't allow any demons lurking in our peaceful land."

"SiR HErO HeLP!"

"GAAAaaahhhH!"

They pleaded to the Linel, but he just kept the same heroic smile while watching them suffer. Seeing so, Luke had thoughts. '...what...is happening...'

"You know what, criminals should be free too, because they're also humans like us." Linel stood up, then walked on circles. "One just made a mistake, they'll be called a criminal. All humans, has plenty of sins too, yet why is everyone still not criminals?"

'...sir...hero?'

"Well, that was nonsense right? Because it makes sense." He stopped, then looked at Luke. "It's really nice meeting you, and everyone here as well. Now rest in peace for me." And so, they finally vanished.
