Chapter 78: 79. Chapter

Luminara moved quickly twirling and jumping through the battlefield like a feral wild cat dodging or deflecting multiple laser shots. She threw out a forcepush towards a nearby commando droid that was trying to sneak up on her in an attempt to cut her down with a vibrosword. The forcepush sent the droid backwards crashing into another droid that was sending bolts after bolts of plasma in her direction. The two droids crashed into one another, and fell to the ground with a loud crack. 

However this was not enough for them to be destroyed and soon they tried to stand up. Luminara's attention was drawn away, as she twirled around and blocked another series of laser beams. She sensed the danger behind her as the fallen droids were about to shoot her, but she was simply unable to react because she was already too occupied with deflecting the shots from the other droids. 

Finally deflecting another shot back into the face of a cursed droid, she moved her head towards the earlier damaged droids and saw as a red beam was sent into her direction.

Her reflexes and thoughts seemed to quicken in that second, causing the world to slow down around her. 

It is too late to dodge or deflect!

She realized as the beam was heading towards her unprotected back at an extremely high speed. 

Is this how it ends?

She thought to herself while looking at the incoming pulsing chunk of red plasma. To her surprise, the fear she initially expected to feel in a situation like this, didn't appear, she only felt peace.

If this was how it ends, so be it. I am ready. 

This was what she thought, as the world began to sped up around her. 

It all happend in the blink of an eye. A large shadow appeared in front of her, blocking the shot of plasma with it's own body. Luminara's eyes widened in shock... Why? Why would anyone sacrifice their life for her? It didn't make sense... She was a Jedi, it was her job to defend the republic and it's citizens... 

However before that thought could go any further, the large shadow moved, charging towards the damaged droids crashing into their thin bodies and literally flattening them into the ground and the wall.

For a moment Luminara felt a bit light headed... She felt her mouth part slightly as she looked at the back of that huge alien, creature.

Did he just shook off a laser beam shot from this close, like it was nothing? 

Now her eyes were also drawn by the two pulsing energy weapons attached to the alien's wrists. She sensed a peaceful presence in those blades, much like in her own lightsaber, but also different. This presence was much weaker then the one all lightsabers contained, it was diluted.

All this information was observed and understood in a few seconds of time by Luminara, she couldn't watch any longer as the battle didn't stop around her. She sensed another series of warnings in her mind, and sprang to action. She dodged a few bolts then shouted.

-Cover me! 

This strange group of people who escorted the senator, defending her while risking their lives must have been some famous bounty hunters who have managed to rescue the senator. Even now, they were defending her as if their lives depended on her survival. Luminara as a jedi master felt ashamed by such selfless and heroic actions. 

Just now they had even saved her life, so she decided to trust them with her life once more. There was no other choice anyway, if she didn't cut an impromptu exit on the wall, then they would be eventually killed by the droids. They were trapped here, after all!

With that thought in her mind, she plunged the lightsaber into the thick metal wall of Sodome pub, and with a new layer of perspiration appearing on her face from the raising heat radiating from the melted metal. She slowly begins to move the blade in a circle large enough for them to step through it. 

Come on! Come on, move on, melt already!

She urged the metal to melt quicker as she heard the sounds of battle and loud crashes behind her. 

She was at two thirds to create the exit, when she heard a series of curses coming from behind her. It was the voice of a woman, and since it was not the voice of the Senator, it could only be the other woman, who was currently bringing the senator with her.

 -Are you ready yet, it's not that I am in a hurry, but then again, I don't exactly plan to die here... You know...

Luminara felt speechless, this shameless person was just standing behind her and dared to criticize her efforts! And doing all that in an extremely unreasonable way... For a moment, Luminara felt like she was a padawan once again. Trying to fulfill her master's unreasonable trials and requests, that always appeared on a whim.

None the less, she wasn't a child anymore, and decided to shout back in a moment of annoyance.

-I am doing my best here!

However her remark felt too childish, even in her own eyes. This made her feel quite embarrassed. Which necessitated another remark in quick succession.

-Would you remind me, what you are doing to contribute to our escape at the moment... miss, who are you exactly?

Now that felt much better. 

The answer of the previously injured woman was quick and tacit. 

-Are you done yet? 

-...

Luminara felt a sense of hopelessness that she hadn't felt for a long time... This... The complete and utterly shameless disregard of her entire question made her feel a strong second hand embarrassment. 

However, and maybe luckily she didn't have the time to experience that sense, as she finally cut through the wall. She stepped back, and sent a strong force push into the circularly cut metal wall and pushed it to the outside. With an extremely loud clank the piece of metal hit the ground finally. 

Luminara jumped through the opening and looked around, warily. Luckily there were no droids outside, however she new that this would not be the case for long. The droids will try to intercept them soon enough. Even so, they will have the place for maneuverability outside, and hopefully there will be reinforcement coming soon! Such a battle will no doubt cause a large commotion! 

-Would you help me, finally? 

Sounded a clearly annoyed voice, from her side. She looked at the woman seeing her trying to bring the senator over the exit she just made.

The woman breathed heavily, as she sent her a chilly glare. 

-Right about now?! She ain't that easy, for fucks sake!

Luminara looked at the scene feeling awkward as she turned off her saber and skipped over to help the woman lift the senator's unconscious body over the melted and still extremely hot opening covered in melted metals. 

Luminara was about to put down the senator, after all three of them were on the other side, but the woman dripping with perspiration and blood scolded her in an extremely annoyed and authoritative way. 

-STOP, do you expect me to run with her in this injured state while carrying her on my back!? 

-Uh... no-no?

-Then don't put her down, and run!

-But the others are still there...

-They will come along, they are probably just trying to gain some time for us to escape! Now scoot!

-But, wait, what? Since when are you the boss and all... 

-Do you want me to give you a written request or just a kick in the ass?! RUN!

-...

At that very moment, Luminara decided that from now on, she will be much-much more considerate with Barriss... As the old mental injuries, and traumas buried deep in her soul were suddenly cut open by the most shameless and self centered person she ever met... beside that one...

This was how Luminara found herself in an extremely unexpected situation. She was running through the dark streets of Coruscant underground streets, as a known and quite famous jedi master, while carrying an even more famous missing senator with the help of a woman whose name she still didn't know!

-I swear, if anyone sees me from the temple now... 

Right after they turned in on the third corner after they left the burning pub in this ridiculous manner, they were suddenly stopped. She felt a sense of danger. She reflexively looked in the direction of the premonition, but at the same time a strong blinding light burst happened in the exact same place. It lighted up the entire dark street, blinding her momentarily. It was a flare grenade and they walked into a trap!

She felt her arm grabbed, and soon she was pushed to the ground with a pair of strong arms. She heard the curses of the other woman... as she was, based on the sounds she made, also treated in a similar fashion. 

At this, moment, Lumainara, had absolutely no clue of what was happening anymore... This was too much for her... She was a simple girl... really, she liked peace, meditation, good books and night snacks. Even so she wanted to keep that peace in the galaxy, as she firmly believed that peace was the basis that allowed people to prosper and live a happy life. 

But, now, after this entire chaotic day, she was pushed into the ground and someone wearing armor just jumped on her back, searching over her body for any possible weapon... 

Her eyes ticked as the person doing the search seemed to linger a little bit longer then necessary while feeling her behind... 

This... 

To her surprise there was an unknown female voice speaking up, and based on the position of the voice, it could only belong to the person that was pushing her down. She was actually a woman? Then why is she harrassing her... is she, oh... I-I see... 

-She has no weapon on her... only this strange cylinder, oh wait! This is a lightsaber, cool!

Luminara tried to escape, kicking off to the side, trying to shake off the extra luggage that sat on her... but her attempt failed. 

-Wohoo! Calm down, sweety... You have quite a nice bottom, I almost envy you. 

Luminara felt her cheek blush a bit, this comment only added to her completely ruined day... This, she is being hit on by a girl who is based on her voice must be younger then her...

Luminara, was a person who accepted other peoples ideals, she believed in freedom, and the freedom of choice. She didn't have any prejudice towards people, of the same gender having intimate thoughts towards each other... But... that didn't make her, being a... l-lesbian. She felt extremely confused, and embarrassed by such open flirtations and actions directed at her. As a jedi, she obviously didn't have much first hand experience to handle such situations. And even, though, that she used to act like a very confident and decisive woman, which was expected from her, as she was a general, and a master of a padawan. 

In this sort of situation, which was as far from her actual confort zone as it could be, she simply found herself completely and utterly indecisive and shy. Realizing this, she felt a blush appear on her face.

The situation was simply too awkward!

The other party, obviously, managed to utterly misunderstood the entire situation. Especially the sudden blush that appeared on her face.

There was a loud whistle from the girl, as she leaned a bit closer to her head while didn't letting go of her wrists for a single moment. 

-Look at that... you are into this! Aren't you? 

Hearing those, words, Luminara's mind blew up. However, having nowhere else to vent her frustration she began to search for the reason she was here. She quickly found an easily accessible culprit to blame: Obi'Wan Kenobi.

She will never listen to Obi'Wan's suggestions anymore! This whole situation was, because of him! I should have known it from the start, no mission that was meant for that fool could be a normal mission, but a disaster mission! Curse you Obi'Wan Kenobi, for dragging me into this!

With a frustrated yell, Luminara shouted at her assailants. Her eyes were still partly blinded from the flare grenade that went off earlier and even managed to catch her off guard. 

-Who are you, state your name! You have no right to stand in our way, we are on an official rescue mission here! I demand you to let me... no, I mean us go immediately!

The voice of the unknown woman appeared again.

-Haha! Hej da-... I mean boss, can you believe this? She was really the missing senator as you suspected! We are going to be rich soon!

-You... you were aiming for the senator? 

Luminara asked in a voice of disbelief. 

-Uh-hum! 

Answered the young woman cheerfully while she continued to push her to the ground. 

Luminara was confused. She didn't understand, how could they know of the missing senator being in that pub, it was impossible to know of this completely random occurrence so soon... Not even mentioning that they set up an ambush for them, almost as if they were present and saw the whole thing blow up. 

Luminara's eyes widened with a new realization. Her eyesight was still hazy, but she forced herself to look up at the ominously crouching figure... She couldn't see the face just yet, but she clearly saw the red color of the familiar raincoat. 

-You...? YOU SLIMY BASTAR- AJJJ!

Luminara's words were cut in half by her own surprised scream. 

She tried to look behind, as she sensed a painful pinch on her buttock. 

Then she heard the scolding voice of the annoying girl who had tackled her earlier... 

-Don't say such things at da-... I mean boss, or I will pinch you again.

Luminara felt speechless, this was going to become a habit she realized...

While Hondo who was currently crouching next to her laughed cheerfully. 

-Hahaha! That's my Claire one deserving of the name Ohnaka! Did you hear that, master jedi? If I were you, I wouldn't disregard such threats... Hmm... your voice was surprisingly lively for a jedi, I quite liked it, unfortunately I don't think that I can afford another wife at the moment... I mean... The others put too many bounties on my head already. Saying that I cheated on them, ME! Could you believe such nonsense? 

-...

-But, da-... I mean boss... you did cheated on mother multiple times... 

-Oh, did I? 

-Yes.

-Hmmm, I must have forgotten, wait... which one is your mother again? 

-...

-Ah, it doesn't matter, I love all my children in the same way! BAHAHA! Cough... cough! Ughegh! Cough... Damn, I almost choked. 

With that, he clapped awkwardly while saying.

-Now, come on boys and girls, pick up the ladies, especially the senator and bring them to the base, chop-chop! Oh, and don't hurt them too much, after all we are going to exchange them for a nice reward hehe!

With that, a piece of cloth was forcefully pulled between Luminara's and Mady's lips, especially the latter, who was constantly cursing at them in an unrecognizable language, while a translator device continuously translated the curse words in an emotionless robotic tone, that made the whole situation turn out to have a certain comedic undertone. Unfortunately, Luminara was unable to truly appreciate that, in her current situation.
