There had never been a better defined case of post-nut clarity.

Alex felt it all over his body. Not the remnants of his orgasm, which was still shooting into Ellie at that moment, but the feeling of guilt.

At no time in the past hour had he thought about Jenna and now she was all he could think about. What would she say if she could see him right now, panting heavily, dripping with sweat while he was still buried inside Ellie’s pussy?

The feeling alone made him feel incredibly small.

For her part, Ellie was on cloud nine. A smile of deep and eternal satisfaction was plastered on her face, coupled with the kind of hair that signaled to anyone that she’d just been fucked to the edge of her limits. As if she couldn’t get enough, her fingers were now desperately working her well-used hole, trying to scoop out Alex’s cum so that she could bring it to her lips.

“Mmm, it tastes just as good as I remembered,” said Ellie, sighing with happiness.

Seeing Ellie like this wasn’t good for his conscience. He had to get home. He had to take a shower and scrub away the evidence. Alex kicked a leg over the side of the bed and tried to get up.

Ellie stopped him. “Where are you going?”

“We shouldn’t have done that, Ellie,” said Alex, shaking his head. “That was a mistake.”

“It certainly didn’t feel like a mistake,” she replied.

“Ellie, you can’t say a word about this to anyone,” said Alex. “Not Annette and especially not Jenna. Tonight didn’t happen. What we just did can’t happen again.”

The smile finally dropped from her face. “Alex, why can’t we? That was incredible. I haven’t been fucked like that in I can’t remember how long. It was just perfect, feeling you throb inside me as you shot your cum in me.”

Ellie reached over to grab his shrinking member, trying to coax it back to life. It only made Alex stand up and rummage for his clothes.

“Ellie, you have to promise me. If Jenna found out about this, it could destroy her. You can’t tell her.”

“You’re putting me in a hard position, Alex. You’re basically telling me to forget this ever happened and that we can’t do it again.”

Alex nodded. “That’s exactly right. One moment of weakness—that’s all this was.”

Ellie crossed her arms in front of her tits. Her nipples were still stiff and red from Alex’s mouth.

“What if I don’t want it to be like that? What if I want more? I don’t want just sex with you, Alex. I want more.”

“I can’t give that to you, Ellie. And I hope you’ll do this for me. You told me earlier that I saved your life. You need to return the favor now. Keep this to yourself please.”

Ellie let out a deep sigh and grabbed a shirt off her stand, putting it on quickly to hide her nudity. “Fine, Alex. I won’t say anything. But only because you asked, not for Jenna’s sake. She doesn’t know what she has. She doesn’t appreciate you. You once told me that you two hadn’t even had sex yet. Has that even changed?”

Alex didn’t answer, which was enough of an answer for Ellie.

“I didn’t think so,” she continued, shaking her head. “I’m not going to wait forever for you. If you want me, which I believe you do by the way you just fucked my brains out, then you need to come get me. I’m not going to pine after you forever, Alex.”

“I’m sorry, Ellie,” said Alex after he was finished dressing. He turned toward the door as she looked at him with disappointment in her eyes.

The walk back to his housing unit was one of the longest of his life. As was the wait for Jenna to get home from her shift. It was already past dark but there was no chance of sleeping that night, not after what he did.

The first thing Alex had to do was shower. Showering away the evidence as he kept reminding himself while the hot water sprayed on him. Showering away the feel of Ellie’s tight and wet pussy on his cock. Even before he stepped into the water, he could still see a mixture of their cream around the base of his cock.

He was in the shower for half an hour before he felt good enough to face Jenna. And yet, he still didn’t feel clean.

When Jenna got home, she didn’t suspect a thing. She was dead tired from her long shift and wanted to hop into bed right away, barely getting out of her clothes. She cuddled against his side, letting out a soft moan of approval before sleep took her. Alex wondered how long he could take the guilt before it erupted.

He didn’t sleep at all for the entire night.

The night morning, he was a zombie. When Jenna noticed, he chalked it up to having a lot on his mind because of the VDF, but he hated lying to her. Like the trusting person she was, she took everything at face value, giving him a gentle kiss and a promise to take care of him later that evening. Alex wasn’t looking forward to it for the first time since he met her.

At least he had somewhere to go today. Rooney was working a shift at the mining biosphere, giving Alex the day off but it was a message from Vitale that had him moving toward his laboratory that morning.

Alex greeted Tabby at the front desk, and he noticed that her hair had changed color again. She was a bright blonde today, and she looked happy to see him.

“Oh, there you are, Alex! Vitale told me to send you back. It’s great to see you today, but you look like you could use some rest.”

“It hasn’t been the best twenty-four hours,” replied Alex, still amazed at how lifelike she seemed. “But thank you anyway.”

He found Vitale in the back of his lab, only this time he was being assisted by the other android, Tammy, who had been shut down for work the last time he was here. She was physically very close to Tabby, only her hair was a rich, dark brown, reminding him of Ellie (like he needed any more reminders).

“Alex, you’re just in time!” said an excited Vitale as he turned around and offered him a high-five. “By the way, congratulations on your Council win! I was hoping you’d get one of the seats.”

Alex chuckled. “Thanks, Vitale. I came over once I heard you wanted to see me but you didn’t say what it was about.”

“Ah, well then follow me then. Tammy, will you be a dear and shut down the overwrite protocol on this replicator for me?”

Tammy smiled at him. “Of course, my love. You know I’d do anything for you.”

Vitale grinned and then gestured for Alex to follow him. It was amusing to watch him with his two androids, especially since he was still working on one for Alex.

“Yours will be ready very shortly,” promised Vitale, seemingly reading his mind. “I just need to finish the emotional neuron mapping and we’ll be all set.”

“Am I that easy to read?” asked Alex.

“Only when I’m wearing that mind-reading device,” replied Vitale. “But not today. I only figured I’d mention it since you saw Tammy just now. Anyway, check this out.”

He brought Alex into a separate section of his lab, which was temperature controlled to be cold. In the middle of the room sat an examination table where something big was covered by a sheet.

Something big, humanoid, and furry.

Vitale ripped the sheet off the subject, revealing the body of a dead bear. For a split second, Alex felt his adrenaline course through his body before he calmed down.

“Damnit, Vitale, why the hell do you have that?”

“It’s the one you killed,” said Vitale proudly. “It’s the first one we’ve been able to recover. In the past, the ones we’ve killed before you arrived were only done so at long range. By the time someone thinks to recover the body, it’s long gone. My suspicion is that the bears take care of their own dead but this one I wanted to examine personally.”

“Well, you’ve certainly been going at it,” said Alex, looking at the bear. Just now he noticed the entire chest cavity was open, as was part of the head.

“These are incredible creatures,” said Vitale, showing his excitement. “Would you be surprised to know that they have brains that are just slightly larger than ours?”

“Not really,” said Alex, remembering how he could hear what the bears were thinking. “I’ve been trying to convince others that they are smarter than we give them credit for.”

“I’m still studying the brain of the creature but you would be surprised how remarkably similar they are to other mammals,” explained Vitale as he grabbed the beast’s paw. “Even look at these claws.”

Vitale pulled them back until they were exposed, and Alex had to admit they looked wicked. Incredibly sharp and long, it was no wonder why they were such a danger to humans.

“There’s still so much we can learn about them,” continued Vitale. “Even about their movements!”

That last statement triggered something for Alex, something that he’d been meaning to ask Vitale anyway.

“Speaking of movements, I wanted to ask you about some technology, Vitale. Do we have anything here that’s like a seismograph? Anything that might measure earthquakes?”

Vitale pursed his lips for a moment as he thought about it. “There’s something that’s very basic and crude that came with the original settlers from Earth but it’s over sixty years old and probably not in good shape. Vesta doesn’t have many earthquakes, at least in this part of the planet. Why do you ask?”

“When this bear tried to attack me, the first thing I noticed was the shaking of the ground,” explained Alex. “Pebbles started to fall from the rim around the mining biosphere, and as you’ve noticed, these bears aren’t exactly light creatures. I was thinking about the possibility of setting up an early warning system.”

Vitale started to get excited. “An intuitive network of seismically-inclined demodulators! I love it, Alex!”

Alex winced. “Say what now?”

“You’re thinking about setting up a network of seismographs around the mining biosphere, right?”

“Er, right,” replied Alex. “Why couldn’t you say that the first time though?”

Vitale shrugged. “I thought my way sounded cooler.”

Alex resisted the urge to laugh. “Do you think you can do it? I was thinking of surrounding the entire rim around the mining biosphere. I know you have the camera feeds now but the bears just move too fast for them to be useful.”

“No, seismographs would definitely help,” said Vitale. “And it’s something I can start working on. All I need is to perfect the first one and then Tabby and Tammy can help me replicate the programming for other units. How fast do you want them set up?”

“As soon as possible,” replied Alex. “But I understand it takes time. Just do the best you can.”

“I always do,” said Vitale, grinning at him.

“There was one more thing—” said Alex before he noticed his P-com started to vibrate. He was getting a call, followed by another call, and then another in rapid succession.

“That looks important,” noted Vitale.

“Yeah, no kidding,” said Alex, picking up the last call, which just so happened to be Annette. “Annette, what’s up? My P-com is ringing off the hook.”

“Alex, we need to have an emergency Council meeting,” she said gravely. “Commander Rooney has just been killed in another bear attack.”
