Chapter 1: Edguard’s awakening and his meeting with Nicola

It was damp.

The floor was covered in a red texture.

Machinery sounds could be heard coming from a glass tank filled with a fluorescent green liquid.

Inside was an handsome young man, seeming at the same time dead and alive, with horrifying scars all over his body.

He was like Schrödinger's cat, wether he is alive or dead, you will know it only if he opens his eyes.

There was another man in the room.

He was wearing an immaculate lab coat stained with the same scarlet as the floor.

It seems likely that the man was the source of this red.

Not only his coat but also his gloves were painted the color of blood.

Victims of his hands were sprawled in the pool of wine like liquid at his feet.

Suddenly, he brought one of his bloody hand to a button near the thank containing the mysterious body.

From this, the glass opened like a door and a green fluid was added to the already dirty floor.

The young man that was in it started falling but red hands helped him up before he would crash onto the pool of blood.

That’s when, after feeling the contact of another human being, their warmth after such a long time, that he opened his eyes.

They were as red and as fiery as the floor.

His pupil would then gaze dazedly into the other man’s blue and deep eyes.

The man then said to him while smiling and with blood still left on his face:

"I am Seek, no, Nicola. I am Nicola Riverstein, nice to meet you."

As he finished speaking, Nicola’s face turned from an expression of smugness to one of surprise.

"Oh my lord! Are you alright?"

The young man in his arms was full of the green fluid that was in the glass tank.

Nicola took his hand and brought him to a new room, smaller than the previous one and without blood onto the floor.

There, he made the cutie sat in a bathtub and opened the water.

He intended to wash off the viscous liquid that was all over the poor young man.

While Nicola scrubbed and rinsed him, he didn’t even flinch nor talk, as if he was a doll without life.

It seems like the young man wasn’t able to talk, probably because of the hideous scar he had on the throat.

After the mute’s body became spotless, Nicola gave him some ragged clothes that were in a closet near the bathroom.

It was better than nothing to wear at all.

After that, Nicola went back to the other room where he started to gather a bunch of documents about the experiments that was going on here, all of them until no one was left out.

He then took a red gas container and splashed it all over the papers on the desk and bloody floor.

The crazy scientist returned to the young man’s side and helped him up by taking his hand and guided him to a secret staircase.

Still with the gasoline dripping onto the floor, they went up the stairs together.

Nicola closed the door behind them and locked it with the key he had stolen from his kidnappers.

The two of them finally were out from the prison that was this underground laboratory!

The sun was bright and the air fresh!

Fwoushhhh

Nicola lighted a matchstick and dropped it on the grass around the door full of fuel.

The fire spread in an instant and burned down to ash all of the laboratory, including Nicola’s research on immortality, the cult members and the remnants of failed experiments.

"You are now free."

Said the supposedly crazy scientist, with a sweet smile on his face.

But the young undead man didn’t budge and stared at Nicola without leaving him.

"Oh well, I guess you can do whatever you want now, wether it’s leaving me or following me until the end of earth I would not care. It is your freedom after all so do what you really want."

Nicola then looked over the bruised but tall young man and said:

"You will need a name if I want to call you so I will give you one. From now on your name will be Edguard and I will be Nicola! Nice to meet you once again." as he said with an arrogant smirk this time.

And that's how they started their journey together..
