No sooner had Han Yanyan returned to her bedroom than a maid knocked on her door. "Miss, Sir would like you to go and meet the guests."
"Why are there guests so early?" Han Yanyan asked.
The maid had seen and shrugged off many relatives looking for a windfall, but she didn't dare to be rude. Who knew if this particular poor relative was close to the main family or not? She only said, "It was a prior arrangement."
Han Yanyan nodded.
Since she had designed the world, naturally she knew the background setting. The little boy was the goal of this mission, the departed spirit. The process of awakening the departed was simpler than reviving the dead. So long as his life roughly repeated, he would wake up inside.
However, the dead still had living, breathing bodies. Waking up meant that they would be resurrected. For what were they waking up a ghost whose body was gone? Reflecting upon how Leo only cared for money and pissed upon1 conscience and law, Han Yanyan felt that this development might not be a good thing for the departed.
But she had no spare energy to sympathize with anyone else.
After changing her dress and tidying herself, she went downstairs. Her father, the head of the Han family, was receiving the guests in a small reception room. There was more than one reception room on the first floor. Being met in this room meant that they were not an important guest.
The guests themselves obviously understood. A woman was sitting shallowly on the sofa, her legs together and gently slanted to one side. Her posture was beautiful and elegant, but also just a little cautious. The little boy next to her had obviously been taught in advance to sit shallowly, just leaning on the cushion, so that his feet could touch the ground.
Though the manners of both mother and son were very good, it was obvious from their clothes that they were not wealthy. The looks of a tired woman who had once been young and beautiful had been worn down by life.
"Father." Han Yanyan came to the door, gave a gentle greeting and walked up to the man.
When compared to the down-and-out mother and son, Han Yanyan's father was completely different. His trimmed sideburns and polished nails showed that he had lived a pampered and exquisite life. He had the unique feel and self-confidence of a powerful man, and his every gesture and word left a strong impact on any conversation.
"Yanyan, come over here." He waved to Han Yanyan with a smile. "Meet your Aunt Xinya and your little brother Xiao Ke."
"Is this Yanyan? She's become so big!" The woman called Aunt Xinya stood. She was clearly from the senior generation2.
"Aunt Xinya." Han Yanyan gave the woman a small bow. When she rose, she looked at the little boy who had stood up with his mother. As an elder sister, she didn't have to salute, but out of respect for the departed she bowed her head slightly and said, "Nice to meet you, little brother."

A little flattered, Xinya hurriedly pushed her son forward. "Call her "Sister", this is your Elder Sister Yanyan."
The little boy's mouth had fallen open ever since she had arrived. Pushed by his mother, he woke up suddenly, bowed and said, "Hello, Sister Yanyan, my name is Tang Ke."
Han Yanyan looked at the three of them. In the depths of their eyes spun a whirlpool of stars. She felt a headache coming on and finally understood why Leo erased part of an architect's memory. Too much information was generated when the world was built, and because it had not been eliminated along with her memory, it was activated right now by these three people. A huge amount of information poured into her mind, making her skull ache.
She tried to suppress the flow, focusing only on the preloaded information. Now she understood that this so-called 'preloaded information' was actually the synopsis and character notes that she had left for herself. This concise, summarized information was much easier to sort out.
The little boy in front of her was the mission goal. His name at the moment was Tang Ke, and his mother was her father's cousin several times removed. She was very beautiful, and when she was young she had been rather high-minded, refusing her cousin's affections. Her cousin with his strong family background was destined to marry the darling of some other rich and suitable family, and she didn't want to be a notch on his bedpost.
Later, she had also gotten married. Her husband was an ordinary man. Although he wasn't from a prominent family, he was fairly well-off. But a few years ago, an accident had occurred for which her husband had to undergo expensive treatment. In the end, not only had they failed to save his life, but the family had also been hollowed out financially. Now he was dead, she was alone with her son and living in straitened circumstances. For the sake of her son, she could only humble herself and ask her cousin, whom she had not seen in many years, for help.
"I didn't expect Yanyan to get so big in a blink of an eye." Xinya sighed. Picking up a delicate box, she handed it over, saying, "Here's a small token for you, a snack your aunt made. Try it."
Due to financial constraints, she couldn't afford any decent gifts. Something cheap might be laughed at, so she had just made some snacks. This was calculated, but Xinya was still a little worried. She knew well how insatiable her cousin's family was, and she was worried that this pampered, delicate young lady would be upset.
Han Yanyan took it with both hands and smiled. "Thank you, aunt. It smells good and I haven't had breakfast yet. Little brother, let's go have a snack."
When she said, "I haven't had breakfast yet," Xinya flushed a little. However, Han Yanyan had been very gracious, so she breathed a sigh of relief. Looking at her son, she said, "Go on, go with your sister."
Watching the children leave together, the Han family patriarch sighed to Xinya, "Who could have foreseen that brother-in-law would suffer from R-ray radiation? He must have suffered a great deal. You should have called on me earlier."
Her eyes brimming, Xinya lowered her head. Her hair was bound up in a coil, and her exposed neck was white, slender, and utterly gorgeous.
Holding the little boy's hand, Han Yanyan looked back from the door. She saw her father leaning back, his mouth turned up as he stared at Xinya's graceful neck.
It was the way a man looked at a woman, and also the way a hunter watched his prey.
Even though he was a character of her own creation, Han Yanyan couldn't help but sneer. Holding Tang Ke's hand, she left.
