Guan Tong woke up early the following day. The morning dew outside absorbed the essence of heaven and earth’s spiritual energy from the moon and the sun the previous night. Medical practitioners would use the morning dew to soak the acupuncture needles. The morning dew couldn’t be kept for long, or it would lose its potency. So, Guan Tong has to harvest it and use it the same day.
“Grandmother.” Guan Tong was collecting the dew when she unexpectedly ran into the Old Madam.
“Oh, it’s you, Tongtong.” The Old Madam smiled happily when she saw Guan Tong.
“Grandmother, why are you up this early?” Guan Tong asked.
“Well, I’m old, and I don’t sleep well. So, I thought taking a walk might help.” She answered kindly. The Old Madam liked hardworking young people. She was also happy when she saw Guan Tong wake up this early.
“Doctor Han said the morning dew will nourish Lu Han’s body, so I woke up early to gather some for him.” The Old Madam sighed when she heard Guan Tong’s words. It seemed that the girl was looking out for Lu Han’s best interest.
“My child, this must be hard on you.” The Old Madam took Guan Tong’s hand and said.
“I should be doing this anyway.” Guan Tong was stunned by Old Madam’s words, and she thought that Old Madam had been overthinking.
“What a good child.” The Old Madam sighed again. It was already past ten o’clock when Guan Tong went back after collecting the dew. She also chatted with the Old Madam for a while.
“Are you up yet?” Guan Tong saw Lu Han bathing in the sunlight as soon as she entered.
“Look at the time. Why is he still sleeping?” She sighed. Guan Tong must have had a bad morning to be this bitter.
“I went to collect the morning dew for you.” Guan Tong said.
“I know.” Lu Han replied when Guan Tong heard his acknowledgment. She instantly felt better.
“I met the Old Madam while I was there.” Guan Tong said as she gathered the morning dew that she collected this morning.
Lu Han raised his eyebrows. Grandmother usually wouldn’t engage in a casual conversation. It seemed to him that Guan Tong must be pretty amicable. According to Uncle Tang, Grandmother smiled from ear to ear while talking to Guan Tong.
“I told you that it was Doctor Han who asked me to collect the dew.” Guan Tong wanted to take the opportunity to tell Lu Han and Doctor Han simultaneously so that she wouldn’t let the cat out of the bag.
“Okay, got it.” Lu Han felt something strange going on with him lately. It was as if the girl had the power over his feelings and emotions these days. He thought it was a bad omen.
“I’ll go to the study room to wake myself up a little.” Lu Han said.
“Oh, okay.” Guan Tong was now focused on studying the herbs in her hands, and she was not in the mood to give Lu Han much thought. She found the Purple Butterfly plant in the garden today, so she picked some of it on the way home. They were known to possess health benefits as well.
“Young Master, I got a result.” Lu Han’s study room was secretive, and the whole castle was under his command, so he was naturally not worried about any secret being leaked.
“Who is she?” Lu Han’s eyes flashed with urgency.
“That woman’s stage name is Nightingale. She usually goes to the Midnight Bar on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. But for some reason, she hasn’t been there for a few days. So, we had to ask the people who had been in contact with her. I also learned that Nightingale recently went to the slums…” Uncle Tang did not understand why the Young Master would want to investigate this person. Moreover, he was also confused why the Young Master would be in touch with a person from the slums because these places were chaotic, and the people there were complicated.
“Nightingale?” A smile appeared in Lu Han’s eyes. The woman’s name was as lovely as her voice.
“Yes, Young Master. I sent someone there, but no one has seen Nightingale so far.
“Keep on investigating!” Lu Han didn’t believe that a living person could just disappear out of the air.
“Yes, Young Master.” Uncle Tang saw Lu Han’s reaction. It was undoubtedly clear that this woman was significant to the Young Master. He supposed she might have something to do with the night Young Master went out.
“No one is allowed to know about this ongoing investigation.” Lu Han’s eyes were cold as he ordered.
“I understand.” Uncle Tang said.
Lu Han sat on the chair, his fingers tapping on the desk. ‘Nightingale, where are you?’ he thought to himself.
At the same time, Guan Tong was sweating profusely. The Purple Butterfly plant was adequate, but she wasn’t sure if it would be too much for Lu Han. As soon as Lu Han came back, he saw Guan Tong’s frowning face and the scar on her face that stood out. Lu Han could not help but have doubts in his heart.
“What are you researching now?” He gently asked.
“Of course, I’m trying to cure your illness. I found the Purple Butterfly plant in the garden this morning. The herb is common, but it has medicinal properties. I’ll look at the dosage again. They can fasten your healing progress.” Guan Tong explained.
“So, the scars on your face?” Guan Tong did not expect Lu Han to ask this question. She could not help but touch her face and felt the rough texture on her skin.
“When I was young, I fell off a cliff, and tree branches scratched up my face.” Guan Tong responded.
Lu Han frowned and couldn’t understand how a wealthy young lady like her could have fallen off a cliff. Even if she fell, why didn’t the Lin family find a way to heal her injured face even if she fell?
“When I was young, I went to my grandmother’s house and accidentally fell. The rural environment was not so kind to a young child, and medical help was hard to find, so I didn’t get the help in time. After my parents learned about it, they also hired all kinds of well-known doctors, but it was too late. They couldn’t fix me up.” She added.
Lu Han paused. Seeing Guan Tong’s sad doe eyes, he couldn’t bear to push her any further with more questions.
“Oh, just go and ask Doctor Han if he can take a look at the scars for you.” He casually said..
