After we arrived at the city, we were dropped near the adventurers guild.

The merchant's wife wanted to help the other girls find their homes, or hire them on her own business. She was going to use the loot they got from the bandits as a way to expand her business and help the girls that didn't have a home.

She promised that she would definitely help everyone that we rescued.

"I hope that someday we can meet again, Aya-chan." She waved at Aya with a smile on her face before leaving.

At least, I was glad that there are kind people like her. But right now, there is another problem that has been bothering me and Aya…

The same blonde elf that helped us, was following us all the way inside the guild without separating her eyes from Aya.

"Oh, Aya you're back! Did you complete the quests?" And the same receptionist that has been taking care of Aya was the one to first greet her.

"Y-yes!" Aya seemed a little excited as they were walking towards that receptionist. But the receptionist was a bit confused because Aya wasn't carrying anything in her hands.

"...Aya, you…" But before she could say anything else, Aya pulled out everything from her storage pocket.

"Whaa?!?" The receptionist was left speechless with her mouth open from the amount of stuff Aya had in her pockets.

Two big bags full of herbs, the quest paper signed by the client, and a bunch of loot from the bandits.

"Aya, where did you find all of these?" The receptionist quickly put on her glasses as she started checking everything that Aya had dropped on the floor. Some of the other adventurers were taking glances at all of the things that Aya had. I'm sure they are jealous of Aya and that actually made me feel good.

"Did she steal those?"

"There’s no way she got them on her own, I'm sure she must have had some kind of help."

"I know, that's just impossible!"

"There’s no way a rookie would be able to find those even if she conquered a dungeon."

Even the adventurers around the room couldn't believe all of the stuff that Aya had brought. I could also sense ill intentions from some of them as they were looking at Aya with their envious eyes.

"She got it from them." The blonde elf, who was being quiet until now, gave a leather bag to the receptionist.

"This is…!" The receptionist lady looked at the bag with a shocked look on her face. It was as if she couldn't believe what she was seeing with her eyes. "Haa…" She sighed then looked back at Aya with a serious look.

"Is something wrong?" Aya wondered as she was looking at the receptionist.

"Who is responsible for this?" The receptionist asked the elf after closing the bag.

"She was the one who defeated the leader of 'Dark X bandits'." The elf pointed her finger at Aya while explaining that to the receptionist.

"What?! The Dark X was defeated?!"

"Are they being serious?!"

"By a little girl?"

"This must be some kind of joke…"

But as the adventurers were getting heated about that subject, the receptionist called some of her helpers and gathered all of the materials.

"Could the both of you come with me?" We were led to a private room where the receptionist told us to wait.

"Sorry for the wait, are these the ones?" We didn't wait long before the receptionist lady came back with an old man with butler-like clothes. He had long black hair and a balbo beard shape.

"Ah, yes!" Both that guy and the receptionist were sitting the other way around the table while Aya was sitting next to the elf. She was staring at Aya which was making her feel a little uncomfortable…

"Quiet the group we have here, I'm sure that you've had many achievements despite your appearance?" This guy asked us.

Both the receptionist and that guy were looking at the elf, expecting some kind of explanation. But even I was a bit confused over here. This girl helped me defeat that bandit... but in her perspective, she must have thought that I was just another bandit who betrayed the whole group.

Even after that, this elf said to the receptionist that Aya was the one who defeated the bandits. What is her goal here, and what is she trying to do by saying that?

"Even though I have lost my guild card, I am a 'CCC' rank member. While I was on a journey, I got careless then I got captured by the Dark X bandits." The blonde elf started explaining her part of the story.

I was a bit curious as well to know if she was going to say anything about the weird behaviour of the bandits.

"A 'CCC' rank adventurer? That's as expected from the elf race. But may I know how you defeated the leader of Dark X? He's one of the criminals that is ranked at least 'BB' rank." That guy looked at her long bow as he was trying to fill up the whole story of what really happened.

"That bandit is also known as one of the criminals that always gets away. Until now, not even 'A' rank adventurers couldn't bring him down." The receptionist lady also added as they continued to look at the elf.

But now comes the question… how do I explain this in order for Aya to get the reward without breaking any rules? I can't just reveal myself here...

"I also said this before, but Aya was the one who single-handed the leader of those bandits. I only assisted from a distance." The blonde elf casually explained to them with a blank look on her face.

But why is she helping us? Is there some kind of catch that she's trying to achieve? Those were the questions I was trying to understand as I looked at her. It couldn't be that she can actually see inside a body as you need to have appraisal.

But even if she had one, I could’ve felt if she tried seeing Aya’s status.

"You shouldn't joke like that… This girl just started today, and there's no way she could have defeated a dangerous bandit like that…" But the elf's explanation only made that guy even more confused than before.

"That either makes this little girl either a monster or just an excuse to hide something." He also added as he was gently rubbing the sides of his eyes with one hand. "...but even if that was an excuse, you could have found a more believable one…" He let out a sigh as he continued thinking.

From their point of view, this would look really strange and frustrating to understand. And the elf was making it even harder for them.

"Guildmaster! Aya also managed to complete three different quests at the same time." The receptionist gave the quests to him which Aya had completed.

"...I see…" The guild master let out another sigh after putting down the quests. "Your name is Aya, right?" He looked at Aya.

"Y-yes!"

"Then Aya, before we decide on your rank. We're gonna have to investigate this for a little bit whether this is true or not. You can come back tomorrow since we're gonna need some time to analyse all of the materials you've brought to us. I hope you understand." He explained to Aya before looking at the blonde elf.

"You can also reapply for an adventurer’s card as well."

After that, Aya was preparing to leave the guild, but the receptionist followed Aya in a rush.

"Aya, wait a moment!" She called out to her.

"yes?" The receptionist was holding a bag in her hand as she was explaining that to Aya.

"These are the rewards for completing the quests you did today." She handed the bag of money to Aya, making clinking sounds.

"There’s a total of 3 silver Xumi."

Aya was a little excited as she received the money. She had the same feeling as someone getting their first paycheck.

Aya put the money in pocket storage so it would be easier to carry around.

"Th-thank you so much!"

The receptionist laughed after listening to Aya's reply. It was as if she was relieved from a burden.

"You're welcome, but don't forget to come back tomorrow." She crossed her arms then let out a sight. "Because of you and that elf, we're going to spend all night working..." I could feel that Aya felt terrible from this.

"Don't look like that, I will be fine. In the meantime, you should go home and rest for a while.."

"Yes!"

After Aya had received her first reward, she was really happy as she was on her way out of the guild. But somehow, I could feel the stares of all the adventurers towards Aya.

"That's her, right?"

"Yes, she came here and got a massive amount of stuff out of her pocket…"

"Does she have dimensional storage?"

"Yes, she must have one of those!"

"But aren't they super expensive? Only the biggest merchants in the world have those. If I remember correctly, they are worth 6,000 Gold!"

Aya didn't seem to pay attention to those adventurers, but their conversation somehow reached me. Especially the part where a dimensional storage was around 6,000 gold… Are they serious?! With that much money, I could buy a lot of stuff without a care and live without working for the rest of my life if I was back on Earth.

If I'm doing my calculations right, based on the currency they are using, then that means I would have around 66,400,000 Yen.

.

.

Anyway, I told Aya to get out of the guild as fast as possible without being noticed by anyone else.

In the next day I was waiting for Aya to wake up like usual, but since I was bored, I was looking out of the window. I could actually see a lot of people wandering around. Some of them would actually look at this house, then run away in fear.

I guess they are scared of this creepy house...

"Huh?" But while I had nothing to do, I noticed two guards coming at the front of the house with a fire torch in their hands.

As soon as I understood what they planned to do, I immediately rushed down and opened the door.

"Excuse me…" I called out to them after I pretended to open the door with 'levitation'. Both of the guards looked at me surprised when I opened the door.

"Do you live in this house?" One of the guards asked me after checking something in his paper.

You are reading story Summoned as a Ghost in another world at novel35.com

"No, this house was abandoned so I decided to spend a few nights on it. Is there any problem with that since there are no actual owners of this place?" Both of them had a puzzled look on their faces when I asked that.

"Since there's no actual owners over this house, then you have committed no crimes. But we've been getting complaints about this house about being haunted by evil ghosts, that's why we're going to burn it down."

I looked at them for a moment before replying back to them.

"I live here and until now there have been no ghosts. Is it possible not to burn this house?" I asked since Aya was still asleep and she didn't have anywhere else to go besides this place. If she goes into an inn, she might get tricked or even scammed while I'm not around.

"If that's so, then you need to actually buy this house and get ownership." One of the guards explained to me.

At least they didn't turn out to be some kind of cliche guards who didn't care about the citizens.

"Sure, but where do I need to pay, and how much is the house?" I asked them.

"Since this house has no owners, then it's full access goes to the Nobles of this sector. Here, we have the papers that gives ownership to the house. If you want to buy this house, then you're going to need to pay at least 2,000 gold Xumi. And if we include the unpaid taxes… in total are 12,500 gold Xumi." I didn't care how much they were going to charge for this place, but... The system of this country was definitely unfair. Just because the previous owners didn't pay taxes, that doesn't mean that the new ones have to pay them all…

"Wait here…" I rushed back inside the house and went upstairs where Aya had left her cloak. But I have to say, I was a bit nervous to talk to someone else other than Aya.

Usually, my body is almost transparent but thanks to my skill 'Lifeless One', I looked like a normal human.

At first, I didn't get what this skill was about, but after experimenting around, I managed to make my body look like a normal human. I thought that was too good to be true, but that's when I realised that my body was still that of a ghost even though I looked normal. If someone tries to touch me, their hand will go through me just like a ghost. That's why I need to be careful while I use this skill.

.

I think we saved a bit from the bandit's loot in her pocket storage.

I grabbed a bunch of gold and jewels from the bandit's loot, then pretended I was holding the bag in my hand. But in reality I was just levitating them with my skill.

"Will these be enough to pay ownership of the house?" I asked the guard after carefully handing the bag to him.

I also made sure our hands wouldn't touch each other. That would definitely shock them since I don't have a physical body.

"The other guard started counting the gold really fast but when he found some of the jewellery inside, his eyes widened in astonishment. He couldn't believe what he actually saw inside there.

"T-this is!!" The other guard had the same reaction as him when he looked at the jewel he was holding.

"Where did you find this?" The guard asked me as he tried grabbing me by my shoulders.

But I immediately dodged him. I didn't want to blow up my cover that I was actually a ghost.

"The other day I defeated some bandits and got it from them." I didn't lie to them since I basically defeated the bandits. Aya also reported this to the guild, so I don't think we're in trouble.

"I s-see, We'll be back!!"  Both of them rushed somewhere after confirming what I said to them. Wait, they got my money and ran away without giving me ownership of the house…

Did I just get scammed?

.

..

...

….

After Aya woke up, we decided to head back to the guild in order to receive our full reward for defeating the bandits.

"Waaah…" Aya yawed as we continued walking towards the guild.

Since I was possessing her, I could feel that Aya was still a little tired from yesterday. Maybe I should tell Aya to rest a little more after getting the reward from the guild.

"Goodmorning Aya, did you sleep well?" And the first one to greet Aya was the receptionist lady. She had eye bags on her face which we could tell even from far away.

"Yes, I slept really well!" Aya excitely replied back to her.

The receptionist seemed really tired to the point of actually falling asleep on her feet.

"That's great to hear." The receptionist said to Aya with a smile on her face.

"Are you okay?" Aya asked when she noticed the lady's tired face.

"Yeah, thanks to you, we spent all night investigating and appraising all of the items you brought to us yesterday."

So that explains why she looks so tired… But since they put an all nighter just to investigate this, then that means that they won't try to fool Aya just like the first supervisor that failed her.

"We still need confirmation from someone, so we can't give you a proper answer yet. In the meantime why don't you take a quest? By the time you get back, I'm sure that we will be ready to give you the reward." The receptionist suggested to Aya as she was taking a short break by leaning her head at the palm of her hand.

"Can I ask you one more question?" Aya politely asked while looking at her eyes.

"What is it? I hope not any more items..."

"What happened to the elf that was with me yesterday?"

"Ah, her? After we confirmed her identity, we made a new adventurer's card, then she left. I think she said that she had some stuff to do." The receptionist explained to Aya.

But as we were listening to her, I felt someone coming from behind Aya.

"Here you are, Aya"

I immediately recognized her red hair that waved each time she walked forward, and her massive sword that she carried on her back.

"Ah, Theresa. Did you finish your things that you had to do?" The receptionist immediately recognized her.

The way they talked felt like close friends. I could understand why she chose Theresa as Aya's private instructor.

"Yes, I finished that long ago... but I'm here for something else..." Theresa moved her eyes to Aya after she said that to the receptionist.

“Aya, how about we form a party together?” She asked as she placed her hand over her chest. She didn't show any ill intentions other than genuinely caring for Aya. But Aya wasn’t sure whether to accept or not because her previous party members abandoned her without a care.

“There is a quest I’m having trouble dealing with, and It would help me a lot if I had someone to watch my back.” Theresa suggested to Aya.

“That sounds like a good idea, why don’t you form a party with Theresa? I’m sure you’d be much safer than doing solo quests.”

And the receptionist would be relieved if Aya was going to form a party with Theresa.

“W-why would you want someone like me in your party? I’m sure there are more amazing people that would be suitable to be in your party.” On the other hand, Aya looked down on herself, even though in reality, she was much stronger compared to where we first met.

“Aya, you shouldn't say such things about yourself! I’m sure that you are more amazing than those dirty bastards over there!” The receptionist looked at the other adventurers that were dead drunk as she explained that to Aya.

“Why don’t you try it, I’m sure you two would get along. If you feel like that it's not for you, then feel free to tell me.” The receptionist also added.

[ She is right, besides I’m here with you. I won't let anyone harm you. ] After being abandoned by her previous party, I’m sure she wouldn't feel comfortable joining another party once again. But this time, I feel like Aya would be much safer with Theresa. I mean, she even risked her life just to save Aya.

“I also heard that you defeated some bandits on one of your quests. That bandit’s rank is almost the same as mine. That’s more than enough achievement to be in the same party as me.” Aya thought for a bit as Theresa said that to her.

I understand that this might be a difficult decision, but I don’t want to force her into anything. If she doesn't want to join her party, then that's fine by me.

“L-lets get along from now oongh, Ouch!” Aya accidentally bit her tongue as she accepted Theresa’s invitation.

Both Theresa and the receptionist slightly laughed at Aya's clumsiness.

.

..

...

….

Both Theresa and Aya decided to head to their first quest together as a party. Theresa didn’t mention anything about the quest, and the only thing she said to Aya was about going somewhere in the forest.

I thought this was some kind of classified quest, but in the end it didn't take long before Theresa pulled out her sword and pointed it at Aya.

“H-Huh?! Theresa?!” Aya was confused why she was suddenly acting like that.

I was confused as well since Theresa didn’t seem like that kind of girl who would trick someone.

“Stop playing dumb! Show yourself!” She Threatened Aya as she continued pointing her massive sword at Aya.

She was being serious, and didn’t seem to be challenging Aya in some kind of training. I could see it in her eyes that she was actually serious!

“Theresa, w-what do you mea--?” Aya tried asking Theresa why she was acting like that, but she didn’t seem to listen to Aya’s confused voice.

Don’t tell me, she means…?

“--Not you Aya, I’m talking to the one inside you! Stop being a coward and show yourself!”
