Samurai POV:

“How much is a piece of fried meat?”

“Six silver.”

I gave the shopkeeper his money and walked away while I was eating my food.

I have no idea how long I’ve been here, but it was starting to be nerve-racking.

No major events happened that would bring me to Dealmaker, be it from this timeline or mine.

“Where the hell is he hiding? What am I doing wrong?”

Boom!

Not far away in the distance, I heard the sound of something exploding.

“Dealmaker!”

I threw away my food and started to run in the direction of the noise.

It must be him! staying quiet for so long.

As I ran, I felt the ground under my feet shake, vibrations that wouldn’t draw the attention of anyone except someone like me, who honed their senses to the limit.

In excitement, I jumped on the roofs of the house and dashed to the dirtiest corners of the city.

“My god.”

It was a veritable battle.

People in ragged clothing surrounded a pair of teenagers who were doing their best to defend themselves without harming them.

But what caught my eyes was a pair of people fighting on the roofs.

One of them had bat wings on its back, a tail, and horns growing out from its head.

“Dealmaker.”

Even if it didn’t look like the one, I knew, I could immediately tell.

I reached for my sword and jumped into action, to kill that monster, but something happened.

“What?”

An invisible force took over my body, lifted me, and pulled me into one of the abandoned buildings.

When I broke through the glass, I made my body spin, so that I would land on my feet, my sword drawn out.

“Bravo, what a majestic entrance.”

The room's ceiling and walls were entirely covered in black, horrible-smelling goo.

Moving on its own, the liquid gathered on the floor, and from it rose a humanoid figure with two burning eyes.

“Wh-Who are you?”

Even when I said these words, deep in my heart I knew.

The figure’s face shivered as a voice started to emit out from it.

“It's been a while, my dear Samurai, but it saddens me to see that you couldn’t recognize your Dealmaker. Did I change so much?”

*****

-          five minutes earlier, Dealmaker POV:-

“Finally.”

After who knows how long, I managed to find it. The luminescent insects which were guiding me now arranged themselves into the shape of an arrow, pointing to my target.

“What the hell did it take so long for it to find it?”

‘Maybe he was hiding while we were looking for him.’

‘Coward!’

“Sigh, in any case, I need to go and find that guy.”

I followed the glowing insect when I heard the sound of something exploding.

‘Are people fighting? Sounds quite harsh.”

“Fighting… Shit, it’s already happening.”

In a panic I ditched this guy’s body and started to move through the city's roof, not caring about the people seeing me.

‘What are you doing?!’

“He’ll be there. I am sure of it.”

As I ran, I saw someone standing on the top of one of the houses.

Someone wearing white and holding a katana.

“FOUND YOU!”

Not thinking I rushed into one of the buildings, smeared all over a room, and pulled him in.

I expected him to crash headfirst to the ground, but he managed to slide inside in a superhero pose.

‘Wow! So cool!”

‘Superhero!’

‘Shut the hell up, both of you!’

“Dealmaker.”

I could see anger show up on his face, giving me a slight pleasure.

‘Kill him!’

‘No follow the plan.’

‘Turn him  into a duck!’

Shut it!

“Before we begin, I am just dying to ask something. What the HELL are you doing here? This isn’t your time. Did you die again and got dragged here? Man, you go around in the multiverse, don’t you? Making my life ever more difficult.”

The samurai slowly lifted his blade up, his entire body burning with energy.

“I came here to stop you. The actions you caused have destroyed the foundations of the very fabric of the universe. Do you have any idea how many people have died because of you?”

“Well, if I had to give a guess it would be around 156 billion, give or take a few thousand, not counting the races that weren’t humans. It’s quite funny what you can accomplish by compressing some mislay souls together.”

“You- You- HOW DARE YOU! DIVINE TECHNIQUE: -“

“STOP!”

I formed two hands and I lifted them up.

“Think, my old enemy. Right now, we are at a moment of history with great importance. Outside, next to us, we have a chance to rectify history.”

I pointed at the whole, from which the sounds of battle could be heard.

“Right there, at that moment, is when the Dealmaker was born. Not the name, but the being that embodied it. If you interrupt it, I might cease to exist. And you will also be erased from history.”

“What the hell are you babbling about?”

“As much as it pains me, we are connected. Without me, you never would have died on that fateful day. You would never go to that cultivator world, and you would never become an existence equal to a god. Admit it, without me, you would have never become so strong.”

“… But if I kill you here, billions of lives would be saved, and entire planets will still exist.”

“Maybe. But who knows? Maybe something even worse than me will emerge. That’s why we are having this talk. Today, in this instant, I am offering you a choice. A deal if you want.”

As I was speaking, I was slowly forming myself into a humanoid body, forming the outlines of a suit. I even tried to make my mask, but it didn’t work so I kept my head as it was.

“As you can see, I am in quite a peculiar position. My body is falling apart with my soul on the verge of being extinguished. I can only stay alive by eating souls or existing in the bodies of humans. And you, you became a toy of the gods, being used as nothing more than a weapon to maintain a balance that isn’t there anymore.”

The samurai looked at me as if it were trying to kill me with its eyes.

“What is your point?”

“My point, as you said. Is that we both have a chance to rectify this error. We can gain a power that can rival the gods. Take my hand and I promise this universe shall fall into our laps.”

‘What are you doing?!’

‘He is deriving from the plan! Kill him!’

The samurai stared at me for a while before shaking his head.

“How can you ever believe that I will take your hand? You are an abomination. A being that shouldn’t even exist. If I have a chance to destroy you at your roots, then I will seize the opportunity.”

“Sigh, all right then. Then let us fight pointlessly.”

I pointed at his chest gathering some energy into my fingertip.

The samurai did the same with his sword, making it shine in a golden light.

“Divine Telekinesis: Divine Push.”

“Divine Technique: Divine Slash.”

When the two attacks flew at each other, I could feel the entire building and its vicinity disintegrate from the pressure the blow had.

Then it just stopped.

The debris floating in the air as did our attacks, the energies,  like clouds barely touching.

slowly the attacks disappeared, and the room returned to normal.

“What’s happening?! What did you do!?”

The samurai shouted his body like mine frozen in place.

“It isn’t me. It's probably…him.”

Appearing from thin air, the old man in his brown robe and white beard walked into the middle of the room.

“Seriously? You brats are insane. I gave both of you a chance, even warning you about the rules of the game. And you do THIS? Do you have any idea how many people would have died if I hadn't stopped time?! Not to mention this thing!”

Snapping his finger a transparent box appeared in the air before my face, containing a black liquid.

As I was staring into it, a miniature skull of a deer hit its side, moving its jaw up and down.

“I found this thing in the sewers attacking anything it moved. It even tried to eat me! Take it back into your wretched body before I incinerate it!”

Before I could say anything, the cube was slammed right into my face, allowing its content to enter my body, through my eyes.

‘Finally,’ we shall get rid of you!’

I could feel the wills residing in that slime trying to take over me, erasing my mind in the process.

Unfortunately for them, I had some very strong residents in my head.

‘The hell are these things?!’

‘Argh! How dare you attack the True God of Madness! We will turn your minds into mush!’

‘Kill it! Kill it with fire!’

‘Turn them into ducks!’

‘Ducky, you feathered traitor! We will fry you!’

As the fight was going on my mind, and my body was going through several changes, screams of pain and rage raging in my head.

First, I became entirely liquid from which tortured faces emerged and sink, looking quite in pain.

When the screams finally quieted down, I was back to normal.

by normal I mean, that I was back wearing my black suit and I had my deer skull mask back, my body tingling with power.

“Heh. Hehehe. HehehehahahahahahHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA!”

the teeth of the deer skull hit on each other as I laughed but I didn’t care.

“Finally.”

‘This much power from only four souls… How strong were you when you were whole?’

‘I like it! Let’s kill some people!’

“You said it. And with this amount, I can also do the thing we talked about.

‘…You can? Do it!’

‘Yeah, let the party begin!’

Concentrating, I slowly started to form black tumors in my palm, growing them into the size of a person.

“What are you doing? Are you sick or something?”

The old man looked at me with a strange face, keeping his distance from me.

“Hehehehe, Come to me my dears!”

With a laugh of triumph, the two tumors exploded releasing the bodies they contained on the floor.

They were both women with pale skin and voluptuous breasts.

As they slowly stood up, the exploded parts of the tumors gathered on them turning into clothes.

“So, this is what owning a body feels like. I like it.”

The one to speak first was wearing a black dress and hat that had a black veil hanging on its edges hiding her face from people.

From her hat, two bone white antlers grew out, which seemingly had rings stuck to their surface.

“Fresh air, fresh blood in my veins. It's time to spill it!”

The other one was wearing black leather clothes, with bones serving as necklaces. One her head, like a hat, was the skull of a deer, its antlers sharpened and painted red with blood.

“ Impossible. Spirit that resides in the mind, getting physical bodies… IMPOSSIBLE!”

The old man screamed in disbelief as he fell on his backside trying to walk away.

“Ladies. If I may ask you.”

“Naturally.”

The lady dressed in the black dress, Maniae, snapped her fingers, allowing me to finally move.

“Much obliged.”

I stretched my limbs, as I smirked at the samurai’s shocked face.

“What? Did you really think I didn't have any friends? What sort of people do you think I –“

“Dealmaker! What the hell did you do?! Who are these spirits?!”

Father time screamed, not daring to look away from my friends.

“Sigh, old man Time please calm down. I will not hurt you. As for who they are, I believe that these lovely women can introduce themselves.”

“We thank you, our friend.”

The woman in dress slightly bowed as she lifted the edges of her skirt.

“Good day gentleman. My name is Maniae, and I am the spirit of insanity. The lovely girl next to me is my sister, Lyssa. She is the personification of made rage, so if I were you, I would stay away from here. She is a bitter.”

As she spooked her sister slammed her first into the wooden floor, breaking it into bits.

Smiling, I put my hand on her head.

“As you can see, old man Time., you are outnumbered and possibly outmatched. So please, leave us before things turn bloody.”
