The Ancient Battlefield of Gods and Demons, the main control room.
“Haha! Xia Fei is really lucky. Everyone here can use the system to increase their level, yet he’s the only one who can take part in the long Alpha Protocol test. I thought that things would end there earlier, but in a sudden twist, the AI gave him one week to increase his cultivation,” Old Black said while chuckling. Alas, the screen had lost the signal, so he could not see what sort of training Xia Fei was undergoing.
“This isn’t luck,” Old White shook his head and said. “If Xia Fei didn’t have his unique personality, the AI wouldn’t unlock its hidden set of tests. If he didn’t pass those twenty-eight days of abnormal trials and received an extremely high evaluation, he wouldn’t earn the right to enter the rapid advancement path.
“You can say that this is what Xia Fei deserves, the consequence of his personality and his efforts. Luck naturally played a role, but it’s not the primary factor.”
Old White’s opinion of Xia Fei was slowly changing, but he was not in the habit of being as blindly optimistic as his older brother. After some thought, Old White added, “Still, seven days is too short. Even if he manages to raise his level by two or even three, he still won’t be able to hold out against a concerted attack from the demons.”
Old Black grimly nodded and then looked around. “The Ancient Battlefield is truly wondrous, concealing so many secrets. In the past, the warriors of the two supreme races fought here, so why did it become a playground for the two races’ young elites to cultivate and hunt after it was sealed up? Who’s working in the shadows, adjusting the battlefield into this state? Could it be those undying old coots? Do they really have this ability?”
Old White’s eyes chilled as he sternly said, “Regardless, the Ancient Battlefield is no longer what it once was. This AI has turned it into a training ground that few people know about; even we don’t have control over the system’s operations.”
Old Black snorted. “I don’t believe it. Nothing in this universe has truly impervious walls. Let’s get started and see if this system doesn’t have any openings that we can exploit.”
Old White was startled. “You’re still thinking about breaking through the barrier and entering the Ancient Battlefield? This is very inappropriate; the moment we go in, those undying old coots will surely notice us.”
Old Black smiled. “Who said that we have to go in? The AI is now acting very weird, refusing entry to anyone above the Law Emperor level. Although we can’t go in, they can.”
Old Black smiled as he stared at the two parrots behind him, a sinister gleam in his eyes that made the birds shiver.
“That’s right! Blackie and Whitey are Divine Beasts, not warriors!” Old White immediately understood his brother’s meaning and excitedly said.
…
*Bang!*
Xia Fei was thrown out of the sky and onto solid ground. The purification had not gone on for very long, only a dozen or so minutes, and that sensation of extreme emptiness followed by extreme fullness made him feel like he had been on a rollercoaster, moving from one extreme to another.
He tried to move his body around and realized that it had not changed very much. His footsteps just felt a little lighter and his mind a little clearer.
“You said that this was energy purification? Is it something very impressive?” Xia Fei curiously asked.
Oro firmly nodded, explaining to Xia Fei, “It’s naturally nothing to me, but it’s a big help to you. This sort of energy purification requires an energy master of level 6 or above, but a level 8 will get you better effects. Its goal is to cleanse your energy of anything miscellaneous. Whether it’s food or Origin Crystals, they all provide energy to the body, but the type and purity of the energy differs.
“Energy purifications clears out the remnants of impure energy from the body and is very beneficial to a warrior’s constitution. This system’s energy purification isn’t the best, but it’s at least at the rank of a level 7 energy master. You have to interact with the plane of the two peak races, so you naturally won’t have an energy master help you purify your body. That you can enjoy this energy purification, which only the bigshots from the two races can enjoy so soon, is naturally a good thing.”
Xia Fei seemed to understand, muttering, “So energy masters are this formidable. Not only can they produce Origin Crystals that warriors need to cultivate, they can also purify people’s bodies!”
Oro chuckled. “Of course! Energy masters, artificers, and apothecaries are known as the three supreme support professions. Any one of these cultivated to the apex will earn everyone’s respect.”
Seeing the change in Xia Fei’s eyes, Oro added, “I know that you’re skilled in pharmacology and have decent control of energy, but for you, dividing your attention at this time would only waste resources. After all, you’re only seven days away from a lethal competition. Let’s get through this trial first before thinking about anything else. Since the Ancient Battlefield gave you this rapid promotion path, you should naturally take full advantage of it to raise your combat strength as much as you can.”
In front of him was a screen that showed the paths Xia Fei could select, and the system would offer him support in whichever path he chose. Oro judged that the support provided by this system would be at the intermediate level of the two peak races; not the most valuable, but ultimately very difficult to come by. After all, Xia Fei was still in the White Horse Constellation and far from reaching the level of the two peak races.
Xia Fei smiled, his lips curving.
“Correct. I currently need to increase my strength, but increasing combat strength doesn’t just need to be through law power alone.”
Oro curiously looked at him and asked, “Then what’s your plan?”
Xia Fei smiled and reached into his spatial ring. He removed the wood-type Immemorial Mystical Armament, Scattered Star Chrysanthemum, and placed it on the ground.
Oro was taken aback and then burst out in laughter. “That’s right! Why didn’t I think of that? If we’re talking about rapidly increasing your strength, nothing is faster than merging Immemorial Mystical Armaments! Of the Seven Plants of the Cloud Sea, you already have Peacock Blue, Nine Night Plum, and Scattered Star Chrysanthemum, ranked seventh, sixth and fourth, respectively!
“If you fuse all three together, your strength will naturally soar! I wonder what the three of them combined will look like? I’m truly looking forward to it!”

Xia Fei and Oro were both brimming with excitement to see what the fusion of three Immemorial Mystical Armaments would look like. After all, the Ancient Battlefield had provided a rare opportunity. If they tried fusion outside of this place, simply finding the fusion method and the materials required to serve as the primer would require enormous effort on Xia Fei’s part. Doing it here would save a lot of trouble.
Furball tilted his head and blinked. He and Peacock Blue were brothers-in-arms, and also rivals. They both wanted to become Xia Fei’s number one helper, and now, Peacock Blue was about to soar in power once more, made Furball feeling very dissatisfied. He looked around, seemingly thinking of some strange idea that could not be told to anyone else…
…
Xia Fei’s cultivation had begun. Meanwhile, the curtain on the struggle upon the Ancient Battlefield was slowly rising.
Other than searching for the weapons left behind by their predecessors, the warriors needed to protect themselves. Each person wanted to get something on the battlefield, but after countless years of searching, few treasures remained.
Given the small number of weapons, the warriors would inevitably fight and try to steal from one another. On the Ancient Battlefield, whether or not one could find a treasure was very important, but what was even more important was if one could escape alive. Even if one found something good, it was pointless if they could not take it back with them.
Moon Song panted for breath as she stood atop a small hill, angrily glaring at the two clingy warriors in the distance. She had the face of an angel but the body of a devil; even her glares still had allure. The warriors in the distance flew here and there, their eyes flashing with excitement.
“I already told you two scoundrels; stop following me!” Moon Song shouted. She kicked her leg, and a gray helmet that was half-protruding out of the earth went flying into the air.
The two flying warriors easily avoided the attack and then chuckled. “Junior Sister, don’t be mad. We’re here to protect you. The Ancient Battlefield is a very dangerous place; you’re a girl with a beautiful face, so we can’t help but worry about you.”
The two of them licked their lips as if she were prey, their lustful eyes eliciting goosebumps on Moon Song.
Not only did they speak in unison, they moved in unison and looked identical, too. These two flying warriors were twins, the kind that shared a mental link.
They were from the famous Skybird Clan of the Law Realm, and their names were Shan Jing and Shan Du.
The Skybirds were a clan that had mastered the Law of Flight. Everyone in the clan had the surname Shan, and they could fly wherever they pleased and fight in a bedazzling fashion.
Moon Song had been able to reach the Law Realm entirely by coincidence. Her illusion ability was a perfect match for the exquisite attacks used by the Skybird Clan, possessing a terrifying combat prowess when used in combination. This was why the current patriarch of the Skybird Clan had selected her and taken her in to the Law Realm, imparting the Law of Illusion to her.
Shan Jing and Shan Du had had their eyes on Moon Song for a very long time already. Back in the clan, the patriarch could protect her, so they did not dare to try anything, but now, Moon Song had been sent to the Ancient Battlefield as their support. It was undoubtedly a chance for the twins to close in the distance with themselves and Moon Song.
While the surname of the Skybirds meant ‘virtuous’, anyone who believed that this meant that this was a good-natured clan would be making the most absurd error. As Moon Song said, the Skybird Clan really needed to change its surname…
*Whoosh! Whoosh!*
Shan Jing and Shan Du flew in from the sides, using their high-speed flight abilities. One of them pinched Moon Song’s face, while the other lightly prodded her waist, their attitude extremely flirtatious.
“Junior Sister, we’re the two people with the greatest hope of reaching Law Overlord in the clan. If you join us, you’ll be free from a lot of burden.”
“That’s right. If we’re in a good mood, we may even bring you up to the God Race with us. When the time comes, you’ll be the first wife to the both of us.”
They were rather thick-skinned, carrying on their own conversation while completely ignoring the fact that Moon Song’s face was getting colder and colder.
It was one thing for them to be so brazen with their words, but they were even discussing how Moon Song should be divided. Their argument was that since they were twins with telepathy, they naturally needed to get married together. One would have her on the odd days while the other would get the even days.
Moon Song gritted her teeth, her eyes almost spewing flames. She was on the verge of exploding. Based on that fiery personality of hers, she would fight with someone even if she was no match for them.
Just when she was about to lash out, the voice of a cute girl came from behind them. “How shameless for two, old men to be bullying a lady! Young Miss, why don’t we take care of them?”
Moon Song turned her head and saw two peerlessly beautiful girls. They were somewhat younger than her. One was cute while the other was icy and pure. These two were none other than Xiaoyu and Autumn Cicada.
“Would this be okay?” Autumn Cicada indifferently asked.
“There’s nothing wrong with this. Young Miss, you saw their behavior. These sort of people deserve to die!” Xiaoyu resentfully said.
Autumn Cicada simply nodded and said no more.
Shan Jing and Shan Du were dumbfounded, staring at Xiaoyu and Autumn Cicada without moving a muscle. These three beauties were as dazzling as stars, bewitching their very souls.
When these three beauties were gathered together, their effect was like a nuclear explosion. However, on the Ancient Battlefield, such a beautiful scene often meant danger!
