Cresta also used her magic to attack, but it was no good. The six-armed woman began to sweat like crazy since she was using too much energy. Still, she succeeded in creating a perfect barrier. As if that wasn't troublesome enough, the fire sphere above them was growing ever larger, and they failed at destroying it as well.
"They are planning to destroy everything around…" Rina said. "They might survive with that barrier, but they probably are willing to sacrifice their armies and fortress for that. Those bastards... they aren't satisfied in coming and killing my people, now they want to destroy a good portion of my home planet..."
That would explain why they didn't use that until now… they are truly cornered. Nevertheless, Luke wouldn't let things go as they had planned. If each punch of hers could block an attack, then Luke just had to attack more than she could punch the air. He worked with Shalia to create some ice arrows, and then he used them with Weapon Augmentation.
The triumphant expression on their faces suddenly disappeared since even those small projectiles had a lot of power on them. Cresta realized that their plan had a flaw, so she attacked the barrier with magic as well. Now, if they try anything insane, they will go down knowing that they will die as well. Still, Luke had the feeling that they were crazy enough to do that, and his goal wasn't only a draw… evacuating everyone from the area was impossible, and attacking the fire sphere with his weapon augmentation was too risky since his projectiles tend to explode after high levels.
Luke checked his skill list for anything that could take down that massive fireball. Maybe the same combo that killed the first of the overlords would work, freezing the fireball and the space around it, but Luke didn't have an ice weapon with him at the moment. In any case, the fireball began to tremble, and that wasn't a good sign.
"Well, I will apologize in advance for this," Cresta said.
Luke raised his guard since she said that while looking at him. She was probably going to use him somehow, but instead of that, she just disappeared. Luke and the other were left speechless, but he didn't have time to carry about that. He used Water Manipulation to create a massive wall of water above them, and then Shalia froze it. When the Fireball suddenly expanded, Luke heard the sound of something approaching at fast speed, and then an explosion happened.
The entire area trembled, and the ice wall above Luke and the others cracked, but aside from that, nothing happened. Nothing aside from the fact that a massive explosion destroyed everything in dozens of kilometers north of them. For some reason, the monsters and their allies behind them escaped the range of the explosion. Luke only realized what happened when several ice blocks began to fall in the distance…

In the end, it seemed that those idiots exploded themselves as well. Truly stupid… Nevertheless, Luke asked everyone to move because the ice wall was collapsing, and the cause was the fact that Cresta used their ice fortress to decrease the power of the explosion. She could only stop the damage on one side of the area, and so she did it. Somehow, she survived, and she unscathed at that… She was flying and slowly descended.
"It worked, huh," Cresta said while looking at the damage caused by the explosion.
It even reached the remaining fortress, but it hadn't been enough to destroy it. Luke had many things to say, but he sighed in relief since the mission had been accomplished. His body was hurting like hell since the burn marks still were bothering him and preventing his healing.
"Let me take a look at you," Rina said.
"I can endure this much, go check your friends," Luke said.
Rina hesitated for a second, and then she nodded. Luke was a lot tougher than the frail elves. Once she left, the others appeared. Richer and Amanda's group. They looked pretty beaten down, but they were alive.
"Is it over?" Amanda asked.
"Here comes the death flag…" Luke said and then sighed. "This fight is almost over, we just have to deal with the enemies on the central area of this continent."
"No, it is not over yet," Cresta said and then flew toward the last fortress.
