For the first time in Nolan's life. No one acknowledged him as a Wielder because of his weak body. But, to think that someone would challenge him was quite a surprise.

“Are you going to accept my challenge, peasant? Or kneel in defeat?”

Nolan swallowed hurriedly while his legs were shaking. He thought, “S-should I bail- no! That won't do! I'll be a coward if I do that!”

Albeit walked forward. “Hey, you!”

The boy flinched and said, “What do you mean, ‘Hey, you?!’ Don't you know who I am?”

Albeit shook his head.

The boy got pissed off and pointed his finger angrily at Albeit. “It's Izaac Twilight! You better remember that, peasant!”

Albeit replied, “Okay...” he then cleared his throat. “Nolan, let's go.”

“Huh-”

Albeit grasped Nolan's back shirt. “Let's go.” he began to drag Nolan and Izaac dashed forward, preparing his rapier to attack them. Because of Albeit's behavior, Izaac got pissed off.

“You damn, PEASANTS!!”

Albeit pushed Nolan's back, keeping him away, and Nolan fell his face to the ground. Then, Albeit swung his Claymore toward Izaac's rapier. Their weapons looked like they collided with each other. But, they didn't. In Albeit's view, Izaac's rapier vanished and a surge of pain ran across Albeit's right arm. Albeit growled under his breath as little droplets of blood poured on the ground to see a large scar on his arm.

“ALBEIT!!” Nolan screamed and readied his Broken Hilt. Though his legs were trembling. “I-I can't move!?”

Albeit let go of his Claymore and grasped his right arm. “H-How did he hit me!?”

Izaac glanced at his rapier and grinned wickedly. “So, this is the power of Divine Weapons... Interesting~” Izaac shifted his head at Nolan, who looked useless. Izaac dashed forward again, closing his gap, and positioned himself to attack Nolan.

Nolan used his Broken Hilt to block it... Suddenly, a blow came straight to Izaac's left cheek. Izaac flew in a distance and rolled several times on the ground. Izaac weakly got up and spit a tooth out of his mouth.

Izaac's cheek and mouth ached after receiving a heavy blow. “Tch!”

Albeit was catching his breath and weakly leaned at Nolan's chest. “I'm sorry that you need to see me like this... Haa... I'm so uncool...”

Seeing Albeit sacrificing himself just to save him made Nolan utterly useless. He regretted talking back to a noble and now, the result became worse. Nolan knew Albeit wasn't even that good at wielding a weapon. Because no one taught him, and the people in their village weren't even that good at wielding weapons.

“HOW DARE YOU RUINED MY FACE!!” Izaac appeared from behind.

Izaac brought down his rapier to stab Albeit's back. But, everything stopped as Nolan's eyes widened.

“Huh...?”

“Nolan Backster,” an old man's hollow voice called. “Do you want to get stronger?”

“W-who are you!? Show yourself!” Nolan yelled, looking around to see nothing, and the voice responded.

“Do you want to get stronger?”

Nolan glanced at Albeit who was about to get stabbed. He gulped and answered, “Yes.”

“Very well.”

Everything went back to normal till a bright light shone in Nolan's Broken Hilt.

“What the!?” Izaac failed to stab Albeit's back.

“N-Nolan!” Albeit squinted his eyes from the brightness.

Ten seconds later, the ray of light lessened. Three of them darted their eyes where the light came and a sudden faint light reflected on Nolan's right cheek. They glanced at Nolan's Broken Hilt only to discover that his weapon got longer. The transparent blade looked shattered and old. Albeit and Izaac felt a tremendous aura coming from his Broken Hilt.

“Find the missing fragments~”

The old man's voice whispered again and a cold shiver ran through Nolan's spine.

“Even if your weapon got longer,” Izaac attempted to stab Albeit's back again as he jumped. “Mine is better than yours!”

Nolan pushed Albeit away and swung his Full-fledged sword. Their blade collided and a strong breeze blew their hair violently. For some reason, the rapier's ability didn't work. Izaac couldn't believe what he was seeing right now. The worthless peasant he expected was hiding a secret power. Izaac gasped after the rapier started to show small lines on the edges. He wanted to stop the battle. Yet, Nolan proceeded to attack left and right. Making Izaac push back after each blow of Nolan's attack.

“If this continues, my Divine Weapon will tear into pieces!” Izaac thought.

“I-I'm doing it!” Nolan thought and a small smile came, but then something came up. “ARGH!!”

Nolan's vision started to get foggy as his whole body wobbled. “W-why is my body... Hurts....?”

The Broken Hilt's blades vanished in an instant and Nolan passed out from the ground, out cold.

“NOLAN!!” Albeit rushed to him and shook his shoulders. “No, no, no, no!” he leaned his head on Nolan's chest to hear a heartbeat. Albeit sighed in relief and glanced at Izaac who already left. “That bastard!”

Meanwhile, behind the tree. Izaac was panting after running away. He clutched his chest, feeling his heart pounding faster while his sweat ran down his face like a river.

Izaac stared at his broken rapier. The blade had several lines, he gritted his teeth and thought. “If I ever saw that peasant's face again, I'll crush- no! I'll kill him!”

Izaac left in the forest afterward...

Nolan shot his eyes open, floating in the depths of nothingness. He saw his whole body glowing and covered himself because he thought he was naked. He tried calling for someone but there was no response. Nolan felt his whole body quiver and yelled for help with his shaky voice, “H-HELP!!”

Yet, there wasn't. The emptiness and loneliness came to him as he grasped his head. Imagining his friend, Albeit calling him weak. Everyone in the village called him weak and useless, even his mother.

“P-please! Stop!” Nolan's lips trembled and tears streamed down his cheeks.

Even though all of that was only an illusion. It still affected him. There was nothing to reach, call, or escape. However, someone called his name.

“Nolan Backster,” the voice who whispered to Nolan came.

“Huh?” Nolan glanced at the bright figure with a crown on top of its head. “W-who are you?”

“The power is all yours... Please, find the missing fragments... Or else-”

Nolan abruptly shot his eyes open. He got up in a sitting position while panting hard. He grasped his chest to feel his heart thumping violently.

“A-a dream...” Nolan thought and the texture on his butt was familiar. “How did I end up on my bed?”

He was in his room and discovered Albeit, resting his head at the edge of his bed. While there was a bandage wrapped around his right arm. Nolan sighed in relief to see his friend was alright. But, what bothered him was his dream and his Broken Hilt. The Broken Hilt was laying on the small table beside his bed. He grabbed the Broken Hilt and stared at it. He recalled the fight with Izaac earlier, even the full-fledged sword. After seeing the sword, it looked familiar. He thought it was the Excalibur, but he wasn't sure. Because the blades were shattered and looked old.

Nolan glanced at his weapon's mark and mumbled, “What does this mark mean anyway?”
