The mood changed once he drew his sword. Sung Joon had directed his killing intent to Ho Young before, but now his killing intent spread and dominated the surrounding area. It felt like shards of ice were piercing their bodies. The spectators anxiously retreated a few steps back.
“It became self-defense when Kang Ho Young attacked. It doesn’t matter if the Legend kills him now. Amongst Hunters, self-defense is heartless,” a spectator explained.
The onlookers had different reactions to Sung Joon.
“Was he always this scary?”
“It feels cold.”
“This is killing intent. I didn’t think the Legend hid his strength.”
A part of the spectators expressed shock.
“You’re so dead, Kang Ho Young.”
“Yeah, A-rank Combat Hunters have less killing intent than him.”
“It seems like the Legend was holding out on us.”
“It’s been a while since we’ve seen a good one.”
A part of them paid close attention to Sung Joon.
“Yeah, let’s go, asshole!” Ho Young bravely cried out. However, it was all a ploy to cast away his fear. On the other hand, Sung Joon remained silent, held his sword, and took a stance.
The same stance that man had taken.
“It’s a really unique stance.”
“Yeah. It seems like he’s favored in both offense and defense.”
The high tier Combat Hunters assessed his stance.
“I’m looking forward to seeing what he can do.”
Accompanying a cold laughter, Ho Young charged forward.
“D-Die!”
Ho Young struck first, but Sung Joon easily deflected his blow. Sung Joon disappeared before Ho Young could ready his second strike.
“S-Stop!”
Ho Young despaired at the terrifying killing intent.
He saw his death.
Ho Young felt intense pain and vomited blood.
“This should be enough. You don’t need to apologize. I forgive you,” said Sung Joon, coldly. He pulled Roel out of Ho Young’s body.
‘This should be enough as an example,’ he thought.
“You’re forgiving me after stabbing my heart . . . Cough!”
“You tried to kill me, so I stabbed your heart. Got a problem with that?”
Ho Young struggled but he was bleeding out fast. He felt strength leaving his body and his vision go black.
“S-Save me,” he pleaded.
An S-rank Healer might be able to repair his heart, but no one came to his aid.
“Shouldn’t someone help him?”
“That doesn’t look necessary.”
“You troublemaker! Serves you right!”
Ho Young listened to the cold-hearted voices and despaired. In the midst of despair, he drew his last breath. Sung Joon swept the blood off Roel and sheathed it.
And when he started walking . . .
‘Ugh, the pain.’
While it wasn’t the intense pain he had felt in the ‘Shrine of the Past Life’, he still felt a slight pain across his body.
‘So the more I push my body, the more severe the pain.’
Then, he felt twice the amount of pain. His body wasn’t ready to perfectly replicate the Sword Saint’s swordsmanship.
‘I have to quickly strengthen my body.’
When a Hunter utilized mana, their body would strengthen. Thus the more they used mana, the better the effects. While he contemplated his body’s condition, he heard someone approach.
“Are you all right?” the Sheriff asked.
The late Sheriff examined the situation. Sung Joon nodded.
“You’ll have to come with me for a bit. As long as it was self-defense, you just need to write a statement and you’ll be done.”
“I hope it won’t take long.”
“When we’re done, we’ll put you at the top of the queue,” the Sheriff said submissively. If the message was to be believed, this man had killed a C-rank Hunter in a single blow.
Sung Joon traveled to the investigation room with the Sheriff. There, an investigator examined the CCTV screens. These CCTVs were scattered all across the lobby.
The door opened and Sung Joon went inside. The investigator immediately stood up and greeted him.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you. I’m Lee Ki Tae, Dungeon Bureau Investigator.”
Sung Joon smiled. Both the Sheriff and the Investigator treated him with respect. It was completely different from his old days as the Legend.
‘People treat you differently when you’re strong, huh?’
He stifled his bitter laughter.
“Please sit down,” Ki Tae nervously suggested.
“Thank you,” Sung Joon responded politely and sat down.
‘It’s because I’m not a homicidal maniac.’
He simply fought his enemies without mercy and calmly dealt with them.
“We saw the self-defense incident through the CCTVs. We just need a simple statement from you.”
Like he said, the investigation finished quickly.
“We’re done. It’s been confirmed as a case of self-defense. You’re innocent.”
“Thank you for wrapping it up so quickly.”
“Haha, we’ll get you your waiting line ticket. There’s no need to wait in line. I’ll escort you to the counter.”
Sung Joon smiled gently. The Dungeon Bureau recognized skilled Hunters and treated them with the utmost care.
It seemed like Ki Tae considered him as a skilled Hunter.
“Hello, Hunter. How may I help you?”
Despite the tussle in the lobby, the clerk greeted Sung Joon and smiled brightly.
Ever since Hunters awakened into this world, PKing happened occasionally. Though it was uncommon to see PKing on the streets, Dungeon Bureau employees were somewhat used to it.
‘The Awakening is random.’
Human trash would often awaken and become criminals. Sung Joon stifled his bitter laughter.
“Dungeon matching . . . ” he said hesitantly.
Did he really need to apply for the matching? Couldn’t he just finish a low-ranked dungeon by himself? Although dungeon solo runs were risky, they saved time and allowed the solo player to monopolize all the magic stones.
He cleared his thoughts and spoke.
“I would like to apply D-rank dungeon solo run.”
“Did you say solo run?” she asked, astonished.
She asked once more and Sung Joon nodded his head.
“I’m a C-rank hunter, so I should be qualified.”
The clerk saw the pool of blood in the lobby and pushed back the retort, ‘Aren’t you a Healer?’.
“While solo runs help increase your rating, the Dungeon Bureau does not suggest it due to the inherent danger. Are you sure you’ll be all right?”
“Please don’t worry. I’ll be fine,” Sung Joon said, smiling.
“I’ll go bring the dungeon inventory. Could you please wait a moment?”
Eventually, the clerk returned and the two looked over the dungeon inventory. Although a new dungeon E-rank dungeon was formed a week ago, Sung Joon decided to go with a D-rank dungeon.
“Are you sure you want to pick the D-rank dungeon?” the clerk asked.
A D-rank dungeon was a huge spike in difficulty from an E-rank dungeon. It was recommended that a party of at least three people go into a D-rank dungeon.
However, a Healer soloing a D-rank dungeon? She had seen his swordplay earlier, but this was just suicide.
“Yes, please give me the earliest time.”
While a low rated player could solo a dungeon, it wasn’t recommended due to the danger.
However, the dungeon Bureau would still send a worker to the dungeon, so all they needed was to schedule an appointment. Sung Joon picked his time and the clerk nodded.
His appointment was morning tomorrow at 9:00.
Sung Joon arrived home and went to Hunter.com
Today’s incident at the Dungeon Bureau had been quite noisy. However, no one disparaged Sung Joon while many criticized Ho Young for his actions.
After seeing that, Sung Joon recollected today’s events.
Sung Joon couldn’t understand his actions. He seemed usually worked up.
‘Is this perhaps the influence of my past life?’
He couldn’t help but be suspicious.
‘I should be more careful from now on.’
He smiled and laid on his bed. He needed get some sleep since his appointment was early in the morning.
Once he fell asleep, that man appeared in his dreams once more.
