Syncretic Fault Line

Review: 8.5/10 from 15 ratings

Robert Blackhill has a simple job. He delivers messages, parcels, and objects of interest for clients seeking a discrete and professional courier. One of his primary customers is Sakuya Watanabe, Japanese magnate, philanthropist, and all-around wealthy woman with lots of friends. She has her thumb on the heart of the city... for better or worse. One night, she calls him in late and asks him to deliver a sword to a close friend of hers, Mizumi Arisaka. Taking the payment, he delivers it without much fanfare.

A few weeks later, Sakuya Watanabe is almost killed in a violent crash. Her flying, auto-piloted car came crashing down in a park, dropping from the sky like a stone. With the situation around the accident strange, his own investigation turns up more questions than answers. Her crash is simply the latest in a long line of accidents, all targeting certain people. However, it leads him down a rabbithole of secrets and hackers as he's drawn into the violent, seedier underbelly of the city. It's only with the help of Sakuya's right-hand man, a mysterious samurai-like figure named Wolf, and Mizumi's beautiful mystery of a daughter, Kei, that he can figure out what's going wrong.

It's a race against time to stop even more of these accidents from occurring before they claim more lives. But with obstructive bureaucrats, strange cultists, and the criminal underworld in the way, that's a tall order. It might just be Bobby that's next on the chopping block!
