Sheffield chuckled. "I know you're busy. Would you come and have sex with me when you're free?"
"Sheffield!" she said in a warning tone.
Sheffield knew he made her angry. He tried to talk her down.
"Just kidding. Don't be mad—please. Well, okay, I'm not really kidding. I can't stop thinking about that body... Okay, I'll stop."
All of a sudden, Evelyn pinched his face and his handsome face twisted.
Evelyn was amused. She giggled and even narrowed her eyes.
Sheffield had no time to care about his face in her hand. He was shocked by her sudden laughing and mumbled, "Man! You're so hot!"
'What a perfect woman! I'm crazy about her!' he thought.
Realizing what she was doing, Evelyn let go and stood up. "I'm not going home tonight. Get me a set of pajamas. I need a bath." While saying that, she walked towards his bedroom. Suddenly, she remembered something and turned around to ask the man, "That's okay, right?"
One side of his face was still reddish. He thought about it for a bit and said, "No."
Evelyn didn't expect him to turn her down. Embarrassed, she took a deep breath and said, "I'm sorry. I misunderstood. I'll go."
But she was stopped by Sheffield.
He stood up and held her in his arms. Before she could react, he pressed his lips to hers.
Evelyn was taken aback. She didn't come here to sleep with him.
After a long while, Sheffield held her tightly, his forehead against hers. "It's not like that. You know how much I want you to stay. But I can't, not tonight. If you do, your dad will kill me! And if I'm dead, we can't be together!"
He didn't want to mess with his future father-in-law. Sheffield knew that the old man probably knew where Evelyn was right now.
If he slept with her openly like this, her father would be unhappy. Things between him and Evelyn would get even worse.
Evelyn gasped for air. "So my dad gets a little over the top. You gonna let him scare you?"
Sheffield laughed in a low voice and kissed her lips. "It's really not about me. It's about you. What if I die and leave you sad? Then I'll feel bad too!"
"What a lame excuse. I wouldn't be sad if you died." Not until Evelyn finished her sentence did she realize how cruel her words were.
The expression on his face changed, but he said nothing in the end. He let go of her and said, "Hold on a sec. I'll change my clothes and take you back home."
"No need. Tayson is downstairs." She knew she had been too emotional, but she still didn't want to face Carlos.
Despite what she said, he rushed into his room and started changing his clothes without even closing the door. Meanwhile, he called out to her, "Stay there. I'll be out soon. And go ahead and dismiss Tayson. I'll drive you home. Maybe if your dad can see me being responsible, he'll be nicer. I'm wearing my pants now. One minute!"
Less than a minute later, in a white sweatshirt and jeans, Sheffield walked out of the bedroom, coat in hand. He suddenly pushed the coat into her arms and said, "Damn, I need to change shoes, too. I won't be long, I swear!"
In a hurry, he changed into his sneakers and walked up to Evelyn. He grabbed her hand and led her outside the apartment. "All done. Let's go."
Looking at his back, Evelyn wondered, 'Why did he turn me down when I offered to spend the night?
Is he pushing me away? Or is he just afraid of my father? Or is he really doing this for my own good?'
Evelyn sat in his car, preoccupied. She didn't want to see her father right now.
After fastening her seat belt, Sheffield didn't start the car. After thinking for a while, he asked, "Wanna go for a drive?"
"Where are we going?"
This time he didn't answer her. "We'll be there soon."

Twenty minutes later, they hit their destination. Evelyn then found out where she was—the city's International Auto Raceway.
Looking at her somewhat overeager chauffeur, she asked in confusion, "Are we going racing?"
"Yeah. Ever drive a race car?"
"No, never." She seldom participated in such exciting events.
Sheffield smiled. "I knew it! Let's go! I'll take you there and put you behind the wheel!"
As soon as they got out of the car, people came up to greet them. "Maestro Tang! It's really Maestro Tang!"
"Oh, Maestro Tang is here! Who's the lady?"
"I don't know. Doesn't he usually have a woman on his arm?"
"I envy that guy! He always gets the hot chicks!"
When he heard them fussing over them, Sheffield wanted to gag them. He flashed a smile and explained, "That was before I met you. I promise I won't bring any other woman here."
"Whatever," Evelyn said casually. She already had a boyfriend, so she had no right to interfere in his private affairs.
Sheffield didn't say another word.
Tonight, Evelyn learned he had a nickname—Maestro Tang.
"Why do they call you Maestro Tang?"
As he checked his race car, he answered, "They respect me."
Evelyn didn't respond.
One of the shareholders beside her heard her question and laughed, "Hey lady, haven't you heard of Maestro Tang? He's a big name on the international racing scene."
Evelyn shook her head honestly. She had never paid attention to any of that before.
"Maestro Tang has a racing outfit called Kylin Team, which won the first prize in the world racing competition! He just beat Fowler, another competitor, and won a bet of five million!"
Shocked, Evelyn took a look at the man checking his engine and testing the instruments. She couldn't believe her ears. 'Sheffield is a world champion? So maybe he earned the money to buy his ten-million-dollar car?'
Looking at this man again, she suddenly felt he was very mysterious. He was good at using scalpels, research and development, Chinese medicine, and racing. He was good at so many things. What else could he do?
When he came back and saw how shocked Evelyn was,
Sheffield asked the man next to him, "What did you say to my wife?"
"Wow, you're calling her your wife already?" the man teased.
"Of course. She's my woman, my one and only, from now on!"
Sheffield casually wrapped his arm around Evelyn's shoulder.
The man gave a thumbs up to him and said, "I'm impressed. It
seems that most women on our race track are about to cry."
Sheffield gave an indifferent smile and gently said to Evelyn, "Why don't you drive?"
Evelyn shook her head.
"Then I will take you on a drive around the track! Wait for me. I need to change into my racing suit." She knew what he meant. Far from restrictive formal wear, a racing suit was form-fitting, padded, and flame-retardant.
"Okay."
