Chapter 2: Noelle’s Quiet Rage

Noelle continued to run, her heart beating as fast as it could. She asked for directions and the people who replied pointed her route.

Meanwhile, Aether is fighting Childe, a Harbinger of the Fatui, a Snezhnayan organization that hunts the Archons' gnoses. He is fighting to his last breath, his sword trading blows with Childe's water blades.

And at one point, he finds an opening and fires out a burst of Anemo from his hand, only for Childe to dodge and dash over to where the gnosis would be kept.

But it isn't there, and he blamed Aether to be the thief. He maniacally dashed towards Aether, only for the door to the Golden House to be kicked open, and a claymore is thrown to the floor just in front of both Aether and Childe, with the latter stopping in time before he collided with the gigantic blade.

Noelle ran and jumped to where her claymore had landed. Aether looked at her with a surprised yet relieved expression.

"N...Noelle!?"

"So, a wench has decided to show up... Who are you?"

"My name is Noelle, maid of the Knights of Favonius."

"Maid... Of the knights, you say?"

Childe, even in his delusion active state then laughed like a literal child after processing the thought.

"And you think! You think a lowly maid like yourself is capable of fighting me!? Dream on!"

"Honorary Knight... Are you injured?'

"Nothing too serious, but I'll live."

She then turned her gaze to Childe, who begins to hover a few feet above the floor, and transforming into his Harbinger form.

Noelle's expression remain unchanged like stone, as she glared at the threat in front of her.

"Now... Let's see how powerful you really are, Maid!"

With a spear thrust to the floor, the four of them fell down to the level below them. Aether is buried beneath some debris with Paimon trying to dig him out, while Noelle and Childe stood in front of each other.

Noelle then focused her vision's power, and formed an impenetrable shield, but as she is doing that the ground shook violently that caused even Childe to tremble.

"Wh... What...? This can't be..."

Paimon on the other hand, widened her eyes as she measured Noelle's power.

"4000... 6000... And it's still increasing..."

When the shield is finally done, Aether slowly got up, and cleared the dust off him. He then turned to Paimon and asked her,

"P...Paimon, just how much is Noelle's power is by now?" Aether trembled, as he never saw Noelle like this before.

"Her ATK power is Over 9000!"

Childe heard that, and in his echoing voice, shouted "N...Nine thousand!? You're lying, you little snowflake!"

And that's because it's even way more powerful than he is right now. However Childe shook his head, and swung his spear, and a slash of electro surges toward Noelle, in which her shield just deflects the slash back to Childe.

"W...What the!?"

Noelle dashed forward, and swung her Favonius Claymore. Upon impact with Childe's hip, he is sent flying towards one of the walls in the level.

"This is for the Honorary Knight...!"

Childe gets up, and tried to shoot a big whale out of hydro using his bow, only for Noelle to slash it in half effortlessly, and hitting him on the top of his skull, smashing him down to the floor, which then became a crater due to the heavy force.

Childe then bursts out of the floor, and quickly shoots a hydro imbued arrow that flies as fast as light, only to hit nothing. And when he realized it he noticed that Noelle is behind him, and he floated a few feet backwards.

"W...When did you get behind me!?"

"...As a good Knight should!"

She focuses her vision's power to the maximum, and unleashed her claymore, which begins to glow in a gold light, that extends the blade.

"This is bad... If that hits me...!"

But then he looked at Aether, still being tended to by Paimon after being crushed by the debris.

"Then I'll just use him as..."

He tried to make a mad dash towards Aether, only for Noelle to swing the claymore to the ground, cancelling her attack, and jumped onto the pommel of the sword before using it as a boost to jump over to Aether's position, arriving before Childe does. She then focused her vision's strength to her right fist, which then glowed in a bright golden light. Childe was too late to evade the attack, and was met with a punch to the abdomen, which sends him flying to the sea of mora behind him, and dug through all those gold and hitting a wall, cracking it.

His energy fading away, Childe reverts to his normal form.

"I doubt that you are able to fight anymore. I would suggest you to retreat and recover from such wounds." Noelle told Childe sternly.

Childe chuckled, and used another trick, which is to summon the giant sea monster Osial, before retreating.

"Noelle, that was incredible! Paimon never knew you can do that!"

"Never mind that, why are you here, Noelle?" Aether asked her.

"The Grandmaster has tasked me to accompany you in your journeys, as part of my training."

Aether then made a doubtful face, as he then spoke in his thoughts.

'I bet Kaeya told Jean to get her to do it...'

Aether then shook his head, and focused at the matter in hand.

"A...Anyway! We need to get out! It looks like that there's something big happening outside!"

They went out, to be met with a violent rainstorm. They climbed to a top of a hill facing the sea to see a monster made out of hydro, with many heads, roaring in the distance.

The battle is just beginning.
