For ten seconds, Aska brought me back into my real body on Solaris. Ten seconds and I nearly went crazy from all my voices in my head. The system was constantly shouting in my head with my voice how others levelled up. Hundreds of messages overlapped every second, creating a mess impossible to ignore.
“Ahh! FUUUU!” I screamed as I woke up on the familiar bed and held my head in pain. “That hurts!”
“Well, that is to be expected … but on the flip side, you have seven years to acclimatise yourself to it.” Aska said, trying to cheer me up which failed spectacularly.
“… fine. One more time.” I closed my eyes again and was immediately overwhelmed by these voices in my head again.

“No! No. no. Nonono. That feels horrible.” I stated while holding onto the sheets in pain.
“Well, your soul isn´t getting damaged from it anymore, so … maybe sing a song while you are there?” Aska asked innocently.
“And what song? ‘Be Happy’?” I asked, still clinging onto my humor.
“Okay. That may have been a bad idea.” He admitted.
“Perfect … and now let me cook. I need to order all this new information hammering onto my brain.” I said. Not only did I hear my own voice when I was in my body, but I was also assaulted by a torrent of meta information about the system itself, the skills, attributes and so on. And if I may say so, I hated it.
Still grabbing onto a pillow, I stood up and made one kilogram minced meant. Why? Because I could.
For years, I returned back to my old body daily, only to be assaulted by an endless stream of notifications and masses of unordered information. Working both of these issues out took time, but I progessed steadily. More and more, I understood how the system worked, how everything interacted with each other and even somehow managed to tone down the voices in my head.
I still couldn’t move my body though and failed at the simplest of task - opening my eyes - each and every day. But I wasn’t exactly worried. I was progressing and that was something.
As I didn´t want to go insane by it alone, I even had enough time figure out to some of the spells Aska could show me, but never actually mentioned how I could make them work. He was truly the worst teacher there was. I even had to craft all of the chants myself, which was a horrendously complicated task because I just didn´t know what worked and what didn´t.
All these years I basically had to teach myself everything there was about death magic. Sadly, I had to admit that I couldn’t kill someone by just snipping my fingers. No matter what I tried, the living always refused to bend to my will, or simply straight up die. It wasn’t all bad though. If I wanted to make a castle out of immaterial souls, I could very well do so at the end of my time on the archipelago, amongst other things of course. And, I had also managed to change the landscape of the island a little thanks to going a bit overboard with my magics.
And then, one week before my awakening was sheldued by the gods, I made a decision.
“Hey, Aska … leave my soul in my body this time.” I told him while gripping onto the armrest of the sofa.
“Are you sure?” He learned forwards to look into my eyes closely, but just like his, mine didn’t tell him a thing.
“Yeah. There is no more information coming and the voices are a whisper in the back of my head at this point. I´ll try to fasten my revival a little bit.” I rubbed my hands against each other in anticipation, ready to start my life on Solaris once more and finally be completely free from Aska. Living with him on the island was fine, but the line I drew in the sand was just that. A line. It rested on his goodwill and my ability to erase my memories that he wouldn’t try to cross it … and that wasn’t what I wanted. I wanted freedom. Real freedom.
“Hmm … it is not like I could drag you out of there if you try to resist anyway. So … can I have all the things here?” He asked, not even bothering to make this a sentimental goodbye.

“Yeah … but don’t look in my notebook.” I stated in a hurry.
“The red one?” He asked. I really didn´t expect him to find that one, but at least there weren’t any sensitive information about me in there.
“The black one. Seriously, don’t open it.” I said worried.
“Now I am tempted.” Reluctantly, I stood up and retrieved the hidden black notebook from one of the shelves. Without further ado, I threw it into the fireplace and watched how it burned down completely in satisfaction. “Was that erotica?”
“Worse.” I said in shame.
“You wildest fantasies?” He asked, suddenly very interested in it.
“Much, much worse.” I stated.
“Lucinda, I am dying here.” I knew. And that’s the sole reason why I burned a completely empty notebook before I laid down on the bed again.
“Go on. Get rid of the anchor holding me here.” I stated while looking at Aska´s saddened face.
“No last orgy?” He asked unhappily.
“No? We had one yesterday already.” I stated, remembering exactly how long we had to clean up after that.
“You can stab me if you want.” He proposed.
“Tempting … but no.” I said, seriously thinking about the offer. But then again, we were stabbing each other nearly daily. “Id rather have you help me to escape the temple.”
“Fine … well then … see ya!” He said and snipped loudly. The anchor holding my soul there was immediately deactivated, releasing me back into the wilderness. I immediately shot through the parallel dimensions again heading directly towards Solaris. In a matter of milliseconds, I was back where I belonged.
Inside my own body.

My own voice in my head was several times louder than the constant stream of level up messages already, but I still couldn’t move at all. Well, I was in a coma for around two hundred years so it wasn’t exactly unexpected that I had troubles moving. For hours, I just laid there, trying to open my eyelids which adamantly refused to move.
At least I could listen to the sounds around me which meant I was painfully aware that someone was opening a door in the room I was. Said person walked up towards the bed I was laying in fully naked. Well, I was covered by a duvet, but couldn’t they have given me at least something to wear?
“Hi, how are we doing today?” By the gods … Aska did hold his word. I could hear the relatively young voice of a girl which I knew too well.
