“Lucy, my shift is nearly over. The guards will get suspicious if I don’t go out soon.” Luna said, waking me up immediately.
“Ugh. My sleep~ … can you get me something to wear?” I asked in disappointment as Luna slowly robbed out from underneath me.
“That’s going to make them even more suspicious. I thought I shouldn’t tell the others that you are awake?” She was right … but also wrong. I had no intention on staying in this room for longer than any necessary.
“Okay~ then let us go like this.” I stated and stood up with knees out of pudding, naturally with the duvet around my shoulders.
“Wait, you are coming with me?” She asked in surprise.
“Yup, yup.” I stated and stepped off the bed, nearly falling down in the process.
“There are guards everywhere.” Luna said and gripped my shoulder to steady me a bit.
“No biggie~ I am the saint, remember?” I said happily and strolled towards the door with Luna in tow. Smiling brightly, I pushed against the door.
Nothing.
Then I pulled.
Still nothing.
“Luna, would you be so kind?” I asked and watched in amazement how she opened the large door without much struggle. Whistling in genuine surprise, I stepped through the door and pulled the duvet closer around my shoulders. It would be pretty embarrassing if someone could see me if what I planned for didn´t work out after all. Carrying the tablet she had brought with her, Luna took the lead and guided me through brightly lid hallways, littered with female guards who had nothing else to do except to stare at each other.
Truly, they were taking their job a bit too seriously, so I couldn’t help but make fun out of them and wave my hand in front of them. None of them realised I was there. Smiling brightly, I followed after Luna who strangely had a lot of trust in my abilities and didn´t look back once.
“Hey, Luna. Where is the glass bottle?” Sadly, one guard in particular took her job more than serious … super serious so to speak.
“Uhm … I forgot it in the sanctuary. I´ll take it out tomorrow.”
“Hmm. Make sure that doesn’t happen again.” Did I see a hint of envy in her eyes? How sweet of this twenty five year old woman to see me as something she needed to protect. I really wanted to play with her a little bit, but Luna was already walking onwards after nodding to the guard.
For several minutes, we walked through this place that was probably underground due to the lack of windows. Quite a few statues and paintings of me when I looked like ten where all over this place, and one of these statues even wore my trusty sunglasses that would never leave me alone for too long.
Wearing my eye protectors happily, Luna and I soon reached the surface after we ascended around a hundred stairs. We were definitely inside the capital city. I knew that much thanks to the fortune teller ball. Because of my horrible wayfinding though, I had absolutely no idea where exactly I was.
And thus, I could only follow Luna as she stepped out of the large temple and walked towards her carriage only to wait in front of it while looking behind her.
“I´m here.” I whispered into her ear, making her jerk up in shock.

“How are you doing that?” She asked which made me smile wryly. I couldn’t hide myself from others. But Aska owed me one after I won the last bingo night. And he apparently could hide me from others which came in very handy this time. His powers were limited on Solaris, but that much was apparently doable for him.
“Magic~” I said and stepped into the carriage as a butler opened the door for her. “Hey Luna, can you buy me a dress? I´m around one metre sixty.”
“Oh, right. Maybe I should have done that directly.” She said and talked to the butler before scooting off into the distance to a nearby shop that apparently sold high class dresses. Not ten minutes later, she came back with a blue dress over her arm and presented it to me.
“I wasn’t entirely sure about your bust size … but you seemed fairly thin.” I gnashed my teeth in frustration and retrieved the dress out of her hand. Luna closed the door again, leaving me a private space to get dressed. She sadly forgot underwear, but the dress was long enough to hide everything. And even though it didn´t fit me perfectly, it was certainly better than the duvet.
“Tadaa!” I said and presented myself by opening the door again. I winked to the butler who was me for the first time and held the door open for Luna to get inside. “Where are we going now?”
“Hmm … do you have a place to stay?” She asked which made me think for a few seconds. Hannah was around the capital city with her gang of paramilitaries and Tom was in the city as well so technically …
“No.” I said and smiled brightly. She definitely made me an offer I didn´t want to reject. And so, our destination was obviously a place I knew too well. We weren’t even that far from the White´s mansion which front yard didn´t change much. There were still the same trees everywhere, giving me a feeling that nothing had changed over the past two hundred years … except that it was spring of course. I fell into coma in late winter, but apparently woke up in spring which was rather weird, but whatever.
Even the inside of the mansion was still largely the same. The furniture did change considerably, but the layout of the rooms was exactly the same as it was two hundred years ago.
“That brings back memories.” I whispered as I stood in the foyer, slightly overwhelmed by my own feelings.
“Luna! You are late again.” A woman who I could only see as Mary White herself stood upstairs and looked down towards us. She looked like her, she talked like her … it was her. Mary exhaled loudly, and then put up a lot friendlier smile.
“Welcome to the humble estate of the White family.” Mary said and strolled down the stairs while I couldn’t move my gaze away from her.
“Mum …” I muttered quietly, but then got a grip on myself again. “It is a pleasure to meet you. My name is Lucy.” I said and curtsied deeply while giving my best to hide the ring on my finger that gave me away nearly immediately. Sadly, I couldn’t even take it off as it was glued to my finger through some strange force.
“Mary White. The pleasure is mine. I see you took care of my daughter?” She asked gently.
“I fear it was the opposite way around.” I admitted and smiled brightly.
“I see … where have you been this time, Luna?” She said worried about her daughter.
“… at the bookstore.” Luna mumbled.
“Really? And what did you read about?” She asked sternly, not believing the lie of her daughter for one second.
“About a rather old book where a small human tried to reverse his shrinking.” That had been one of her favourite books as she was still the Mary White I could call my mother. As such, it was only natural to use that book to test her out.
“The premise does sound indeed fascinating.” Mary said and made me bite my lower lip due to that. She had lost all of her memories, that was clear. She was Mary … but she also wasn’t.
