“Have you ever felt the need to raze everything to the ground?” I asked inside a rather comfortable carriage sitting close to Hannah.
“Not really. Why are you asking?” She said while pulling the curtains on her side close. Meanwhile, I opened the window and stuck my head out of it. We weren’t even outside the White´s mansion and yet, we were already stuck. In front of us, a large parade was being held with flowers being placed onto the street, priests walking along and other high officials in the middle of a long convoy.
“I guess that is because of the Saint´s birthday.” Luna did mention something like this and apparently had to join the festivities later on. What I couldn’t understand was why they chose to use this street at exactly this time to parade around.
“My birthday is the 31 of September though …” I exhaled loudly and opened the door. Hopping out of it, I made my first steps before Hannah jumped out of the carriage as well.
“But they don’t know that.” She said after nodding towards the coachmen. For obvious reasons, I didn’t want to be stuck in there for too long and thus, we would rather walk. It wasn’t a long way anyway.
“… can’t they celebrate it somewhere else?” I mumbled and squeezed myself in between a tall aristocrat and the fence. At least we were getting somewhere like this if not for the pedestrians staring at the hammer at Hannah’s waist. More and more often, she was asked why she had had a large hammer with her, to which she struggled to answer time and time again. Once, we were even stopped by two guards because that was apparently a dangerous weapon … while they ignored the nobles carrying a sword with them of course. In the end, they settled with a warning after we explained that this a magical hammer for a smith in the east. Hiding the hammer under Hannah´s maid clothes was apparently quite troublesome for Hannah and so we basically had no other choice but to carry it around openly which led to the next near disaster.
“Please, do not carry a war hammer around on this very day. Saint Lucy stood for peace, not war.” I was told – by a priest who built part of his faith around me – that we shouldn’t carry a hammer around because of me. I would have loved to murder this guy to celebrate my apparent birthday, but that was illegal. And as we all know, one shouldn’t do illegal stuff … at least not in public.
“A hammer like this can be used to forge ones one path into the future. And as we all know, the Saint herself supported children to do so … and I am a blacksmith, so please excuse this blunder of mine.” Hannah explained and gave the priest a cold shoulder afterwards. Shortly afterwards, I gave her the thumbs up, even though I was quite angry at the priest.
Needless to say, I was incredibly frustrated as we finally arrived at our destination. Not only did Hannah need to show me the way twice, but we also took way longer than expected. Because of a single hammer.
“Ladies, the lord is awaiting you.” I only glared at the servant as I entered the mansion and promptly took the stairs down into the damp, dark cellar. As usual, Hannah took a lamp with her and went ahead while I grumbled about my lost time. It was such a shame I wouldn’t be able to hurry back to the mansion thanks to that year long traffic jam.
“Oh, thank you so much for being kind on this very special day. We can be considered lucky that he asked us to come on this very day, aren’t we?” The servant looked at me with wide open eyes as if he feared I would murder him. Well, considering that he was a criminal and knew the ones coming to this place were more than shady, it wasn’t that surprising.
As usual, Hannah led me downstairs but this time not to the usual room. She steered me towards a room with a large circular stone table in the middle at which Tom sat, fingers interlocked under his chin and his elbows on the table.
“Look at what someone made for us!” I jumped onto the extravagant table and turned around. Extending my hand towards Hannah, she immediately understood what I wanted and gave me the hammer. Luckily, I could carry it somewhat which enabled me to walk over to Tom with the Hammer high above my head. “It´s a magical hammer which squeals every time it hits something. And even more, it doesn’t even hurt!” I explained and started to swing the hammer downwards which a force that surprised even me. This thing was quite heavy, but somehow I was still able to lift it up with a lot of struggling.
“It´s hammer time!” I shouted out happily.
“Wai-“ Hannah tried to stop me, but she didn’t come far as she was still on the other side of the table. As Tom´s expression turned from curiosity into plain fear for his life, I started to understand that something was amiss. Yanking the hammer to the right, I barely missed his head and watched how the tip crushed his bones with ease. Blood spewed out of the wound in an instant and Tom screamed in pain.
Pursing my lips slightly, I lifted up the hammer immediately afterwards and revealed the mush that was his shoulder. It was a reddish mess with blood flowing out of it unhindered and even a bone sticking out of his skin.
“FUCK!” He screamed while I looked at the tip of the hammer which was full of blood. The blue lines on the hammer didn’t glow at all, which probably meant the magical weapon was devoid of any mana.
“Do you have a tissue by any chance?” The red – even though it was my favourite colour – didn’t mix well with the blue and black of the hammer. It looked kind of ugly to be honest.
“FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!” He was holding his shoulder with his other hand and still screamed loudly. Hannah even rushed over to him and tried to help him, but he shoved her away without a second thought. He was probably a bit too overwhelmed by having his shoulder crushed.
“Lucinda, don´t just stand around there and help me!” Hannah shouted while trying to fixate his shoulder so that she could bandage it with ripped off parts of her dress.
“Right … right.” Smiling wryly, I leaned downwards and picked a piece of cloth out of her hand. To her surprise though, I didn’t actually help her, but rather started cleaning the hammer with it. It just itched me to do so.
“Lucinda!?” Hannah asked bewildered after having finally secured his shoulder in place. Tom still threw himself against her, but he was incredibly weak in comparison to her. A shut in would never be able to escape her grasp, that was for sure.
“Yes?” I asked sweetly and gave her an angel like smile. “Oh … right. That wasn’t for the hammer?” Finally, I placed the clean hammer onto the table and sat down on the edge of it. “Anyways, during my training with Aska, I learned lots of stuff.”

“Healing magic would be kind of nice. I fear he is going to die from blood loss in the next minute.” Hannah said while trying to bandage around his shoulder which turned out to be harder than expected with only one free hand.
“Healing magic? Who in the right mind would learn that? Hannah, it is obvious you only need healing magic once you lost. And I hate losing, so why should I prepare for that? Sometimes you are very weird. No, I learned the art of suffering. He wont die within the next minute, don’t worry. A vampire like him during the daytime will have one and a half minute left to live after being inflicted such a wound.” Without self healing capabilities, we vampires died faster than humans could. The sheer blood loos alone was impossible to overcome. “But fear not, I also learned to keep calm and analyse the situation.” I explained while taking my left shoe off. For a second, I wondered if I do the same to the other, but this one was clean.
“Do you wish for him to die?” It may look like that, but it certainly wasn’t the case. Hitting him with the hammer was an accident. I had seen it working and so, I simply assumed it would work while I swung it as well. Maybe the mana stones needed to be recharged or something …
“Hannah, you should have asked what solutions I found … its kind of boring to explain you my genius on my own. I also learned that my blood itself has incredible capabilities.” I said proudly and got rid of my sock as well. Without further ado, I shoved my foot into his open, still screaming mouth and noticed in satisfaction how he directly bit into it. Familiar feelings of lust washed over me instantly, but I repressed them successfully by nibbing on my lower lip.
At first, nothing happened except that I was drained of a lot off my own blood and felt drowsier than ever. Magically drawn to my feet, blood rushed through my veins until it entered his open mouth and replenished his lost blood as quickly as it went. Two minutes later, my already hazy vision got even fuzzier and his wound started to heal slowly. Abruptly, I pulled my foot out of his mouth and grabbed another makeshift bandage to clean it … my foot of course.
“Since when does your blood have healing capabilities?” Hannah asked in wonder while I grabbed my chin proudly. Truly, I was amazing in any way.
“Hannah … you should know that my blood is the costliest fluid on this planet. It grants eternal youth, so why shouldn’t it be able to heal others as well?” I asked her in wonder and wore my shoe again. Hopping off the table, I patted Toms other shoulder and walked to the seat to his right.
“For fucks sake … why would you hit me with a fucking hammer?” Tom said with gnashing teeth. He still didn’t recover fully from his injury, but it was enough for him to have a clear head.
“As I said, it´s a magical hammer!” I explained. It shouldn’t have come this far and it was certainly not my fault it wasn’t charged! The blacksmith even told Hannah that that hammer would last for centuries!
“Lucinda, you have to supply it with mana …” Hannah said while slowly placing her palm on her forehead. It was only then that I realised that weapons probably didn’t have mana stones in them. All the usable weapons with any special effects had a soul in them to supply the mana after all.
“Nobody told me there weren’t any mana stones in there.” I mumbled and scratched my cheek. As I looked at it from their perspective, it truly seemed as if I just crushed his shoulder for fun. Don’t get me wrong, it was fun, but I still didn’t do it on purpose.
“Weapons don’t have them … their effect would be activated any time.” Tom explained, even though I already got it. As if I was dumb or so.
“Hey, at least I saved you?!” I asked a bit angrily. I gave him my precious blood, so at least he should be thankful.
“The nightfall saved me!” Tom clarified. It was true that my blood had nothing to do with his healing wound, but at least I gave my best, didn’t I?
“Okay … my blood didn’t heal you … but it was enough so that you could survive until the sun went down?” I explained to him, but he still didn´t look that impressed.
“You stuck your foot into my mouth!” He said it as if I was at fault. The thing was that I intended to clean the hammer even more while I gave him my blood and thus, I could hardly let him suck blood out of my hands. Unsurprisingly, I wasn’t able to …
“You said you liked my feet?” I asked in wonder. Two days ago he mentioned something along these lines as I kicked his wife when we had a little discussion.
“Not in my mouth!” He exclaimed unhappily and glared at me, just to underline his position.
“… that’s surprising. Are you sure?” I asked. Truly, he did look at my feet rather intensely and thus, I always assumed he had a thing for feet. But then again, he ogled at every bit of skin I showed him if the situation allowed it.
“Yes … you´ll be my death someday.” He said, finally healed and placed his forehead onto the table, probably very tired of the whole ordeal.
“I wouldn’t like it any other way.” I explained happily. I was the only one who was allowed to murder him. Otherwise it would mean someone took away from me what was mine … and I certainly didn’t like that thought.
