Yamasaki closed his eyes and asked, "What are you talking about?"

Now that she had already mentioned it, she would answer every question; except the one which she couldn't tell even if she wanted.

"I don't know the reason why this is the case. As far as my memory can go, I have only done a few things throughout my childhood. Practicing my sword, training to be an assassin, and brainwashing on what I should do to be a good wife. Of course they were not successful in the last one."

Her tone was the same as before, indifferent. She noticed that Yamasaki was acting strangely.

Veins popped on his forehead and his fists were clutched tight. He was boiling with anger.

She couldn't understand him. Was he pitying her? It didn't seem like that. They didn't even know each other that well for him to be furious. She hesitated but then decided to take a look at his heart lake.

Claire willed one of her demiurge and expended a good amount of arcane and mental energy.

Her consciousness entered his heart lake. Like usual everything was covered in a faint fog. She could faintly see different things happening behind the haze. She had already seen a few and the rest were shrouded in a mystery.

Then the mist in a certain area cleared and she was a bit surprised.

A man engulfed in purple flame floated in the void. His hideous face twisted in pain but he gritted teeth and didn't utter a single word. Bloody red light shone in his eyes, brightening with the passing time.

He suddenly snapped his head and looked at Claire. He opened his mouth wide and a flame shot over.

Claire was surprised but she withdrew her consciousness calmly and used her sword intent to extinguish the flame that had actually appeared in her body. She was speechless for some time.

Yamasaki seemed to have calmed down or so he looked. Out of blue, he turned around and punched the wall a few times, resounding thumps reverberated throughout the room. The physical pain finally managed to suppress his anger.

A hand grabbed his arm. He glared at the man who had appeared in front of him.

Alan said with a frown, "Have you finally gone insane? Good that I have already sent Melissa and Amelia back to the city otherwise you would have startled them."

Yamasaki snapped, "fuck off," and tried to break free. Alan sneered and applied a little pressure, almost breaking his arm, making him cry out in pain.

He let him go and Yamasaki fell on his butt. Alan snorted, "trash," turned around and left before saying to Claire, "Give him a blue bottle of body potion. I'll compensate you later."

Alan had come just to humiliate him, not hiding his condescending attitude.

But this had somehow calmed his turbulent emotions. Claire, who had come beside him, gave him a blue bottle. After drinking it, he could feel his wound heal at a fast rate.

He got up and apologized to Claire.

"Sorry, you had to see my outburst."

"It's alright." Then she asked from the bottom of her heart. "But why?"

Why did he suddenly act like that? He smiled bitterly and said, "it's complex."

Seeing her brows knitted in a frown, he sighed, "I actually don't know. I am myself confused. I just felt really sad and angry. Maybe I just hated the fact that another life got affected by me again." In the end, his voice became as soft as a mosquito, "So many people have their lives ruined just because they were associated with me."

He hid his complicated thoughts with a smile. And at the same time, unknown to him the fog covering his nexus slightly cleared.

"But it's good that you are strong."

Claire didn't say anything or more like she couldn't say anything. She was not strong. She had been caged for her entire life. She was trained as an assassin and was taught to be cold and merciless. At the same time, those hypocrites wanted her to be a good wife in the future. What kind of bullshit was this? But she endured it. Thinking that one day she would be strong enough to use her sword to shut them up.

Her first decision in eighteen years of life was to be with the young man in front of her. But wasn't she just leeching off him? She was observing his heart lake and polishing her own heart. At first she didn't think much about it. She thought that Alan would have his own plans for his son. But that man was even more unpredictable than the past.

In the peerage, she had heard and seen many kinds of things that she didn't like and even sometimes felt repulsed. She used her sword when she could but most of the time she could only stay silent. But now it was different.

She won't stay silent. She didn't like this for a long time now. What she didn't like more was her complicated thoughts. It was really unlike her.

Her frown deepened. She glanced at Yamasaki and suddenly took out a small unremarkable knife. She would do things her own way.

It was not some magical treasure but it was close to her. She had used it as a child.

Yamasaki was confused when she handed him the dagger. She didn't talk about its history in case he started to misunderstand her intentions.

Claire just told him, "From now on, I'll train with you."

He blinked and then laughed out loud.

Who would reject a beauty like her?
