Claire still had her eyes closed and there was no aura around her. But Yamasaki had a cold sweat. Even though he was not the target of her fury, he could still feel a chill throughout his body. It was as if he was surrounded by swords and there was no way to hide; the end result was nothing but death.

When he saw Claire standing up, Yasuo threw the damn book aside and jumped on his feat. He held her shoulder and said, "Claire, please listen to me!"

Her gaze was penetrating and cold; he could actually feel pain in his eyes. But he ignored this and his grip tightened.

"I know you are really angry but if you confront Alan, I am afraid he will show his true colors. That man is too unpredictable. I don't know how strong he is but you know it, don't you?"

"I know him better than you." Her voice was colder than usual.

But she didn't move and he no longer felt any pain in his eyes.

She sighed, "I am sorry."

He let her go and smiled lightly, "it's alright."

"I am going to cultivate now. I'll see you later."

Yamasaki frowned. "Is it alright to do it right now?"

"I feel the calmest when I am nourishing my sword."

Yamasaki gave out an oh and said in a joking manner. "Why was I even comparing you with someone like me?"

As usual, she took it seriously and said, "You are better than me in many things."

He chuckled. "Yeah like taking a good beating."

She sighed once again and left the room.

Yasuo glanced at the book on the floor, he hesitated and then picked it up. He quickly read the first page; most of it was nonsense but one sentence caught his eye.

'I don't know why but a Sacred spring physique can also share his benefits with his partner. Isn't this stupid?'

He muttered under his breath. "Alan, if this is the case then why would you try to brainwash a child?"

He closed his eyes and decided to confront that man. He stored the book in the spatial ring and walked out. He was lost in thought and collided with someone.

She was a young, cute girl with long orange hair and slightly lost gray eyes. Her pink dress with sleeves that was detached from the chest piece was a bit disheveled because of the fall.

He quickly helped her up and apologized, "I am so sorry, Tessa. I was lost in thought and didn't see you. Are you hurt somewhere?"

"I am fine." Tessa said absent minded and then she finally noticed that it was Eric Bodwyn who collided with her. Her face paled.

Noticing this, Yamasaki said in a worried tone, "your face is pale. Are you really fine?"

Sweat trickled down her face and her lips trembled slightly. She was afraid of him!

This confused Yamasaki and her next words made him more bewildered.

Her voice was soft as a mosquito. "I didn't tell anybody."

His brows knitted together in a frown. He couldn't understand her at all.

Seeing his reaction, the poor girl was on the verge of crying. "I-I really didn't."

He consoled her, "it's okay, calm down first."

He told a servant nearby, who had a strange expression on his face, to bring water for her.

He tried to recall if Eric had said or done something but he couldn't pinpoint anything. And then it clicked in his mind. It must be related to his lost memory.

"Let's sit under the shade of the tree." He pointed at a bench in the garden.

She meekly nodded and followed after him, her body stiff. The fresh scent and the beautiful flowers in the surrounding didn't seem to have any effect on her. She looked as if she was walking towards her execution ground.

They sat down and soon the servant came. After giving her a glass of water, Yamasaki waved the servant off. His eyes signaling him not to leak this. Fortunately the attendant was not dumb, he hurriedly nodded, wiped his sweat and left.

Yasuo waited for her to drink water and asked in a soft voice, "now tell me what were you talking about?"

Her small hands tightly held her clothes and she looked down, not daring to look at this guy she once liked.

Looking at her state, Yasuo hesitated but finally told her the truth. "I am asking because I have lost my memory of the past few months."

Tessa couldn't help but look at him, her eyes wide.

He nodded with a bitter expression and then added. "Though you don't have to force yourself."

His words calmed down a little. Eric was also like this, always being good towards her.

She picked up the glass and took a few more sips. She finally started speaking.

"When the blessed land of Aragon opened, we also tried our luck. The blessed land was known to be safe so our parents allowed us to enter. They also trusted you. But then something unnatural happened. Everyone present at that time was suddenly kicked out of the blessed land."

She gulped. "The portal color changed to red and words in black ink appeared on it. It said that the conditions for the trial of Aragon had been met. Anyone could enter and in the end receive a valuable price. But It also warned that the trial will be dangerous. The portal was going to close in a few minutes so we didn't have time to consult our parents. You and Greffory decided to enter. I tried to stop you but you didn't listen to me. And in the end…"

"I-I was worried about you both so I didn't leave that place no matter how they persuaded me. And then after a week, in the dark night, a portal appeared and only you stepped out."

She finally teared up.

"S-so many people entered but only you came out. I still remember how you looked. Covered in blood, your face was expressionless and then you glanced at me. That gaze wa-was so chilling. I was horrified."

Looking at her pitiful state, Yamasaki's heart softened. She was just fifteen years old–though only two years away from adulthood, she was still a child in his eyes–and she had seen something like that. Not only that, her friend Geoffrey also went missing.

She was the only one who saw him like that. When others found him, he was unconscious as such he was seen as a victim. Of course, he was going to be questioned but then his state was miserable so no one approached him. Or more like Alan pulled some strings behind the scene.

If Tessa had told anyone about this, then it was highly likely that Alan also wouldn't be able to stop people from confronting him.

But it was still strange. Alan knew this but didn't tell him anything. What was that bullshit talk about trying to find what happened back then? As usual, that man was unreliable.

Yamasaki rubbed Tessa's head and said with a smile. "Look at me, do you really think that I am terrifying?"

Tessa glanced at his gentle eyes and slightly shook her head.

Yasuo concluded. "It was dark and I was also covered in blood at that time so it must be an illusion. After all, I will never glare at Tessa. Or you think I can harm you?"

She looked down. "I-I am sorry. I was too scared. I heard that you were ill but I still didn't come to visit you. I am really bad."

"I should be apologizing to you. Even after that incident last week, I still didn't visit you."

But big tears had already started to fall from her eyes. "When those bandits suddenly appeared, I became terrified. Amy tried to calm me down but in the end because of me she got injured. I didn't even come to apologize because of the fear of meeting you. I am really so bad."

Yasuo sighed, wiped her tears and reassured her that everything was alright.

Sometimes too much information was not good so Yamasaki decided not to think much about his missing memories for now; he first had to solve the issue of nexus and his state of mind. Though intuitively he knew that all of these were connected with something he hadn't noticed yet.

Later that night, Yamasaki gazed blankly at his room's runes and suddenly recalled Mia's figure; he muttered, "I wonder if I should send a message to her."

He had accumulated lot of stress lately so he was succumbing back to his old escapism—sex. At that point, he suddenly thought of Claire and hesitated.
