Chapter 7: Step 6 – Explain Why Employing A Pickpocket Is A Brilliant Idea

"Mother, Father. We gathered here today to---" (Me)

"This is out of question." (Father)

And with those words, the discussion began. I didn't think it would be easy to convince them about my case but even then I couldn't help but frown of Father's outright refusal at first.

"I didn't say anything yet..." (Me)

"That girl is a thief.  Her kind isn't allowed to roam free within this city." (Father)

At first glance, it would seem that Heroine didn't pay heed towards Father's remark. As usual she was looking at the floor but her hands quickly exposed her distressed state.

"My, my, Reginald. Don't you think it would be appropriate to hear what Angelica has to say first?" (Mother)

"There is nothing to discuss." (Father)

Now to think about it, he was more pissed than usual that day. Normally he makes an impression of a rock as if he was incapable of showing any human emotion. This time however it's the same but with angry brows.

I had break the stalemate as Father kept expressing the disinterest.

"This girl right here has a special gift that nobody has. If her talent would be properly nurtured, she will become one of Household's biggest assets. " (Me)

"I see I see! So what it is?" (Mother)

"Olivia. Is everything ready?" (Me)

"Yes Milady. All precautions were set up. " (Olivia)

Before this, I made some arrangements regarding Heroine. If someone happened to overhear us, it could cause a LOT of problems so I ordered Olivia to use special magical talismans that can prevent any sound coming out of this room. It's not permanent so I cannot beat around the bush for too long.

Afterwards, Olivia came close to me and gave me a knife. Mother's eyes were glimmering, awaiting on what will happen next meanwhile Father stood silently with his angry brows.

I slighly cut my left finger and then I called out Heroine.

"Do your thing." (Me)

Heroine came closer and soon after her hands started shinning. In blink of an eye, my wound disappeared along with the blood.

"Waitwaitwait! Is that what I think it is!?" (Mother)

"..." (Father)

Mother jumped off the chair in excitement meanwhile Father squinted his eyes. Honestly these two make hilarious contrast to the point if someone would see them for the first time, they would definitely laugh off quite a bit.

To those who don't what just happened, let me explain. Back in my days, there was a thing called "Magic". With power of imagination and commitment, these people could do all kind of magic shenanigans.

There are classic Fire, Water, Earth and Wind Magic along with two hidden elements but unlike the former those that can use them are MUCH rarer. There is a catch though, unless a person has an "affinity" toward any element, they wouldn't be able to use Magic at all.  

Heroine as the "main character" has nothing no other person has at least to my knowledge and it's being able to cast Light Magic, one of the hidden elements. Trust me, it can do a LOT more things beyond healing wounds.

"I hope this demonstration proved her usefulness. Since I'm a sole heiress of the Vallita Household having her as one of my personal subordinates would be very beneficial. Think of it as "investment" if you will." (Me)

"Heh. You know dear? Since you awakened from the coma, I have never suspected you would fit in so well in that short period of time. You're growing so much right before my eyes. *Sniff  Well? Do you have any objections?" (Mother)

"...Do as you wish. There are important matters to take care of, now if you excuse me." (Father)

As Father excused himself and left, I wanted to reafirm Mother's opinion.

"Is everything okay?" (Me)

"Don't worry dear. Your Father has low tolerance towards anybody with criminal background but as long as she will do her part, he will get over it. Speaking of which..." (Mother)

"...!" (Heroine)

"My, you're sooo cute. No wonder you caught my daughter's eye. You're even in the same age! . But now you're gonna have to stop from stealing as you will working with us, okay?" (Mother)

"Yes Mother. I will instruct her properly." (Me)

Not surprising my Mother has taken a liking to Heroin, if it wasn't for my position I would also wanted to hug her and pet her once in while.

Once the talk was over I bid farewell to my Mother and me and Heroine went to my room in order to talk about the aftermath.

"That went smoothly. Thankfully my Mother was on our side so we didn't need to reveal much beyond what was necessary." (Me)

".....why?" (Heroine)

"Sorry?" (Me)

"Why are you helping me?" (Heroine)

"Because I wanted to help you, isn't that enough?" (Me)

"..." (Heroine)

"Look, I may been a bit "forceful" with my approach but think about this way. The alternative was getting yourself expelled from the city, preventing you from helping someone you care about and I don't think I have to explain why stealing is bad." (Me)

"..." (Heroine)

"I'm not trying to trick you. I help you by giving you a source of income while preventing from rising of criminal activity. It's a win-win. So are you in?" (Me)

We stood silent for a bit while I drew my hand but soon we shake our hands. We both made a slight smile in this moment and I could tell already at that point that it's just the beginning.

"By the way, I never asked about your name. You know mine already so it would be fair to return the favour." (Me)

"...Liliana." (Heroine)

"Liliana...pretty name. Although it may be considered flattering at this point. " (Me)

And that's how folks, the first actress finally took the stage. I have a fun fact for you, the Heroine I knew didn't had a name so I was serious about not knowing about her name. 

Originally in the game, before starting you had to write any name to which the characters will refer to. If you have an ego of a typical politician, you could write your own name and be unconditionally praised beyond measure. 

But I digress, time to go into more interesting stuff.
