「It’s the parents’ responsibilty to discipline the children, right?」(T/N: Parents’ , he means it in a plural sense.)
I walked slowly and stood in front of a man who seemed to be Orle.
He has a good physique and has a used sword hanging from his waist.
He has the air of a man who is used to the rough trade and looks like a man who cannot be traced.
「You’re right. I’ll make sure to educate him so that the same thing doesn’t happen again.」
「I’m counting on you.」
I have a feeling that I haven’t said enough, but this is an organization I’m going to be working with. So there was no point in fighting with this man, so I decided to end it like this.
「Thanks for your help. I’m Orle, organizing the vigilantes’ group. We’ll welcome you.」
In Orle’s hand was a letter of introduction from the village chief that should have been thrown away.
The reason I came here is probably that I already know.
「I’m Lars, a former adventurer. Nice to meet you.」
After I finished, we shook hands.
Now I’m a member of the Vigilante. It’s a village society, so as long as the head of the organization approves, the details of the procedures will follow. It doesn’t matter if you skip it.
「My room is in the back, so let’s talk more about the forest there.」
I followed Orle into what appeared to be his office.
There was a desk by the window with some parchment on it. On top of that, he randomly placed a letter of introduction from the village chief and then picked up another piece of parchment and handed it to me.
「It’s a survey of the forest. Here’s what we’ve learned so far.」
I shifted my eyes to the parchment and read the contents. It says that monsters have appeared in the forest recently and that 《Goblins》 are the most common type, followed by 《Skeleton Knights》. If it was only goblins, it was possible that they had built a nest nearby, but if there were sightings of skeletons, which were not naturally occurring, then it was more likely that it was a dungeon.
It seems that there have been some casualties. If the damage continues to spread, the peddlers will have to use other routes, and the village’s income will decrease. The taxes that are to be paid to the Lord will not change, so the burden on the village will only increase. The village chief probably wanted to take action before that happened.
「I understand the situation. I’d like to start my investigation tomorrow, but as you can see, I’m empty~handed.」
I waved my hands in the air to show that I didn’t have anything with me.
It’s a shame, because the Licht took all my equipment.
「I’ll guide you to the place where the usable armor is kept.」
Orle led me into the vigilante’s warehouse.
「You can use anything in here as you wish.」
「Thank you.」
After saying that, I started to rummage. There were double-edged swords, spears and even metal shields, but to be honest, the quality was poor. It might be enough for a small vigilante group in a village to use on ordinary people, but if you’re fighting against monsters, then it’s not enough.
I would like to say that they should prepare better armor, but I guess they don’t have anything better than this.
Well, there is no choice but to equip it rather than fighting with bare hands.
「I’ll borrow this.」
I picked up a sword that was long enough to handle with one hand and a set of leather armor.
You can fight with magic, but if you fight continuously, you will run out of magic power. The more attack options you have, the better.
「No problem. You take care of the forest investigation.」
「Of course. I’ll take care of it.」
I’m a resident of this village, too. I have no intention of cutting corners.
They expect a lot from me, so let’s give it our all
