A bulky man with natural brown hair steps out of the car, his appearance gave me a chill, was something about him I can't put my finger around. he must be Rose's father he throws a serious glare at me while he walks to the gate "Nancy," Roland calls my name while walking up to me.
"Yes," I replied taking my gaze from the bulky man and now setting them on Roland.
"Oh you must be Nancy," the man said while removing his dark shade glasses and handing them over to the man next to him.
"Yes I am, I suppose you are Rose's father, well I left a message for you with her. I need to run along now." I pout as I blow my hair to my back.
"What an attitude you have, so what I heard was true?" The old man smirks as he glares at me with fake smiles.
"I'm sorry you feel that way, sir." I chuckled while he continue to glare.
"Good day sir, we were just leaving," Roland muttered as he pulls me to the car.
"What are you doing Nancy? That man is very dangerous." Roland said with a serious expression on his face.
"Yeah, right he looks like a mafia." I chuckled.
"Let go, get into the car I don't want to stay here any minute more. That big brain of yours will get us into trouble one day." Roland whispered as he enters the car.
I shake my head and join him in the car. I turn and didn't see Leo in the car.
"Where did Leo go?" I asked putting on my seat belt.
"How would I know? Was I supposed to keep an eye on him now?" He Chuckle.
"Alright relax I just asked," I said looking out the window.
"Am I too strong-headed sometimes? And do I have an attitude?" I whisper turning to face him as we drove off Rose's compound.
"Where is that coming from?" He let out a murmur as he gives me a sad glare.
"Just answer me and be honest about it," I whispered.
"To be honest yes, lately you don't take precautions when you face danger, you feel you can handle it all. It is like you feel you can solve all the problems in the world.
But Nancy you are always not going to be lucky." He whispers trying to find out if I was hurt by his words. He rest his hand gently on my hand that was trembling on my lap.
"Meaning I'm full of myself," I mumble as we share an eye lock he quickly takes his gaze off and fixes them on the road.
I took a deep breath.
"You know after everything I have been through right from my childhood I can only be strong Roland," I mumbled as tears form in my eyes. Roland nods as he holds my hand and drives with the other hand.
"I know Nancy, I know"
"All my life I thought I was going to die from my illness. I never made friends or get attached to anyone that way no one will miss me once I'm gone. At times it was so hard to cope and my loneness was suffocating me that I wish I had died already." I sniff holding my nose.
"There were times when I wake up with so much pain that I feel I wouldn't make it for the next minute, it got to a time when I got tired of living and was just waiting for death to come for me." Roland squeezes my hand gently.
"Maybe that's why each time I face a death threat situation I don't blink, I want to get it over and done with if I survived it then it becomes one of my survival stories. I have waited in anxiety all my life now I don't have the strength to wait and stare at problems without doing anything." I whispered wiping my tears.
"I know that Nancy and I admire you for it," Roland whispers.
"Now you are making me cry too, but listen sometimes it's okay to be scared and patient a bit you know, have a clear mind and think of what to do next before jumping into actions." Roland pouts.
"Oh really, is that so?" well I guess I have a problem then because each time I face a problem my mind and heart are clouded with fear and anxiety. There is nothing I can do, I can't even think and the pain only gets worse. I feel I'm only prolonging the pain.
I say in my head while staring at Roland who regrets saying that.
"No, I mean... What! is that not Leo?" He stammered looking at the other side of the window while I turn my gaze in the same direction.
"Yes, but who is he talking to?" I mumbled.
"I don't know them?" Roland chuckles still starting.
"Should we go to them?" I pout with concern.
"No Nancy, this is what I was saying you can't solve everyone's problem." Roland snaps driving away.
"Alright fine I was just concerned. It looks like they are arguing." I murmur.
"Yes but he is a wolf and can handle his problems, we need to get home to your kids." Roland scoffs.
"Fine, chill lately you have a temper than I do, I guess Mary-Anne is turning you into a tough guy," I smirk.
"I know you don't like her okay. could you make it less obvious?" He hissed
"I don't deny that but like I said I will put up with her the same way you put up with Baby and Leo" I smiled.
"That's fair." He chuckled as we get off the car.
"Where did you two go? I looked for you everywhere." I heard Baby's voice from behind.
"Thank God Leo didn't come back with us else trouble," Roland whispers in my ears before leaving me to deal with Baby.
"Bye, little wiz." Baby smirks while Roland ignores him and walks away. Baby calls him wiz as in the short form for a wizard. Well, they have their own of getting along so I won't complain. Roland also calls him a wolf instead of his name. I only have trouble men in my life.
"Um to have a girl talk with Roses," I whispered.
"I thought we talk about it, I don't want you doing things on your own, you could be in danger." Baby said as he holds me in his arms. I just love it when he kisses me on the head. Makes me feel safe.
"Sorry to interrupt you, alpha Baby." A voice said, one of his guards probably need to have a word with him.
"Well, I will leave you two to talk," I said kissing him close to his lips
"No don't leave, you can stay, I don't know where you will disappear to again once you leave from here." He smirks pulling me back into his arms.
I smile as we both stare at the guard who still has his head bowed down and his gaze fixed on the floor.
"Speak."
"The other Alphas are terrified of your power more than ever after what happened at the grand hall with Alpha Bentil, they want to have a meeting with you." He informed.
I supposed it has to do with the hue of light and how I turn before into ashes.
"Everyone knows I'm a just wolf and I never go to war without a good reason to tell them there is no need for a meeting, I will call for one when I deem fit." Baby pouts as the guard takes his leave.
"Now I understand why the moon goddess doesn't want me to be with you, your powers will intimate the other wolves. She always wants to be fair with her children" He murmurs.
"What did you say?" I smile at him.
"Nothing, I was just thinking out loud." He said as he hugs me tightly.
Everything is starting to make sense now.
We were fated to be together because as a human I might die quickly, after all, I was weak and already dying and of course, wolves don't accept any sign of weakness.
We change our fate and we rewrite our own story.
"What are you thinking about?" Baby whispers batting his eyes at me.
"Nothing, about the grand hall, I mean the day you... Our kids.. how did we...." I murmur trying to hear it from his lips. Even though I already heard everything that happened that night.
"Nothing happen we had reinforcement from other packs and you fainted because of the stress." He lied to my face and I swallowed it. I just didn't want to make a big deal out of it now.
"Alright, Baby let's go see our kids," I whisper as we hold hands and walk back inside.
"See who is here, mummy and daddy," Betty grins as Barbara and Barbie walk up to us to hug us.
I pick Barbie up while Baby picks Barbara up.
It was so nice to have them in my arms, I mean my complete family.
My husband and my beautiful daughters.
"I will have them set the table." Pana giggled as she happily walks out of the room.
We all gathered at the table while we take dinner. We got to talk and laugh over all the problems we went through.
This very moment with everyone around and happy makes me very happy. It's been a while I have a little peace and I feel I can breathe now.
"Nancy, you seem lost." Baby murmurs holding my hands,
"I'm just happy, everyone let us raise our glass for a toast," I mumbled as everyone picks his glass.
"What are we toasting to?" a voice said from the other side of the door as everyone's attention swift to him...
Everyone was anxious to know whose voice it was, the thought of another bad news knocking on our door made my heart shred. I let out a deep breath when Ashely and her brothers walk through the door holding a glass of wine in their hands and have smiley faces.
everyone let out a sight.
"I hope we are invited?" she pouts with a smile.
"Of course, there is room for everyone, here sit," Betty whispers as she makes room for them to join us at the table.
For today, I'm only going to enjoy the moment and worry about nothing.. Our waves of laughter filled up the room as we all eat and drink happily.
