And it continued for a minute before finally being broken.
«Lear: Are you sure its not her? It entirely sounds like her to do something like that?»
«Well, she doesn't exactly resemble her. Maybe in her younger days she should be similar to this girl in appearance..»
«Lear: Damn it! That makes me even more tensed! That can be easily done by disguise..»
«Don't joke, it sounds ridiculous for the Lady of the House to run away..»
«Lear: Idiot! I am her son, if I can do it, she can too and probably even more skillfully then me..»
«Lear: I am sending you my father's contact number. Just hurry up and contact him. I need you to confirm if my mom is at home or not..»
Max really felt this was getting ridiculous now.
"Hey, are you going to take the whole day to reply?" Lesia asked looking at Max who seemingly had gone asleep and it was actually hard to tell whether he was awake or asleep with blindfold on.
"Sorry, I got lost in thought for a moment in there," Max said as he suddenly got up, "I will answer you after retuning in a minute, excuse me.."
With the restroom as a reason, he quietly sneaked away from the seats and took his phone out.
He really didn't know how to hold this conversation the Barnes Lord.
What words to use, what face to make and how to even stop himself from appearing like some bad evil guy
After all, think for a second, technically he had taken his son, Lear, away and now he was going to call to the man ask for his wife's whereabouts.
Max was just thankful that he wasn't face to face with him, if not for that, he was sure to get bashed by him.
…
Barnes House, Ishtar.
The Lord, Ander Barnes, sitting on his chair working like it was any other day when his phone rang.
He frowned seeing that it was an unknown number and after the second rang, he eventually picked it up.
"Hello? Who is this?"
"..."
The person on the other end was silent most probably thinking on how to start this conversation.
"If this is a prank call, then you better realize that you had called at the wrong place, Sir?" Ander said with a smile while still going over his work on the desk.
"Hello Uncle, I am Max Arkansa- I mean Max from the Edwisnon House…Lear's friend…" An extremely awkward voice sounded from the other side.
Ander suddenly laughed and spoke with a cheerful voice, "Speak son, do you need Uncle for any help?"
"Huh?" Max on the other hand was taken back by the joyful laughter. He was expecting curses to rain down if he honestly exaggerated his thoughts a bit but the reality shouldn't have been that far away from it.
Yet, what was this?
"Umn...Is this Barnes House? Am I talking to Sir Ander Barnes?" He couldn't help but ask in confirmation after doubting that he had dialed the wrong number.
"Yes! This is indeed the Barnes House and I am the Lord, Ander Barnes." The man said with a smile.
Max seemed to have forgotten the conversation he had with his, Lisa and Elly's grandfathers.
Even thought the Noble Houses didn't understand what wielder was, Max was undoubtedly an important person for them. Hence he was someone they wouldn't like to mess with for no apparent reason.
On the other hand, Lear's grandfather was extremely happy to hear about Max. It seemed that Lear had made a smart decision and it wasn't hidden that the two were extremely close friends. It was very clear from the fact when Lear had smashed the Projection screen in anger when his father didn't confirm about taking Max's side during the incident where Max had killed Victor.
So, all the ill feelings they had for Max was gone not to mention he was the reason that Lear had changed like this ever since he left Ishtar.
"Do you need any help from me, Max?" Ander once again asked.
"Umn, I have a message from Lear to Aunt, can you get her on the call?" Max asked lightly with his voice lowering on the last part.
Ander didn't have much of a change on his expression but still felt it odd that Lear was using his friend to pass a message like this and that too not to him but to his mom.
"Ok, I will call her. Give me a minute.." He said before looking at the servant and asking her to call the Lady of the House.
But a minute later the servant returned, saying that she was out on shopping.
Ander nodded and tried to call her and put her on the conference. But she didn't pick up.
In the end, he could do nothing about it for now.
"She is out for shopping now, why don't you tell me about it?" Ander asked but Max obviously had nothing to tell.
"Sir, can you confirm if she is really there in the city right now?" In the end, Max sighed. This had become too serious for him to hide it any longer.
Ander frowned listening to Max. It was obvious that he realized that there was some kind of catch in here. Something was definitely going on in here.
"Why are you asking me that?" Ander couldn't but asked in a serious tone.
"Sir, please search for your wife first. If you can't find her, then I might have something you want to hear." Max knew there conjectures were next to being ridiculous but the hair colors matched, the facial structure matched, her words were all about Lear, she was going towards Trinity as well and had come from Ishtar.
How can he not suspect it at all, specially when she was missing as well?
Ander immediately send the message to his people and it only took a few minutes to check if she had even entered the shopping district.
And…..she hadn't.
20 minutes and the Barnes Lord had turned the whole Ishtar upside down and yet he still hadn't caught a sight of his wife.
"Tell me right now! What's going on?!" He spoked with a serious tone.
"Sir, I think the lady I have on the seat next to me on the Express car to Trinity is your wife." Max replied clearly specifying the word 'think'.
But Ander immediately knew what was going on. He hadn't kept his word about letting her got to Trinity and until two days ago, she was even really pissed at him before her anger suddenly disappeared out of nowhere.
Ander's face slowly turned colors, "Keep an eye on her. I will be getting to Trinity soon…"
Before Max could even reply, the phone was hung up.
….
"What the hell?" Max really didn't know what to do, how was he supposed to stop her if she insisted on leaving?
Not to mention, more than half a day had gone by and there wasn't a stop in between to Trinity now.
He even checked the express car and saw that the next one that Lear's father could take was tomorrow morning. He doubted that Barnes Lord could change this and reach Trinity on the same day as them.
In that case, didn't that he had to hold Lear's mom for a full day in Trinity…
