"Barnes.." Roman muttered with an ugly face. There was no way he was ever going to be happy seeing this person. Not to mention, he didn't have any idea about his visit.
Was this guy here to stir up some sh*t?
After all, one was supposed to inform the other on intruding their territory. Especially when the Lord of another Noble House himself was visiting.
Just think about it. If a figure at his level is sneaking around like this in someone else's territory, won't it cause people to be doubtful of his intentions? Not to mention, they weren't the best of friends to begin with, who could just laugh it out.
"Roxley…" Ander didn't seem too happy to see Roman as well. He had already been in trouble due to his wife's disappearance and was honestly irritated.
If someone didn't stop the two, a disaster was definitely bound to occur today.
"What are you doing here? Why do I not know about your arrival?" Roman asked with a grim voice.
"Hmph! Who the hell are you to question me? Do you own the place? I don't remember any limitations on traveling. Are you trying to become a tyrant by denying my human rights?" Ander snorted.
Roman's face twitched and his smile slowly started to turn menacing, "Don't act like you don't understand. You know the customs. So, you better give me a valid reason today or else…"
"Or else what…" Ander replied with a glare. He wasn't willing to back down at all.
The situation in the hallway became tense and the guards in the corner began to sweat. Even if they didn't recognize Ander, they indeed recognized Roman.
As the mana around began to fluctuate, Max immediately jumped in between the two.
There was no way he could allow the two to fight. It was extremely bad for his plans to match Lear and Lora. Not to mention, the Hotel was Edwinson House's property. There was no way he would allow himself to suffer a loss for no reason.
"Get out of my way! You dare to interfere!" Roman glared at Max. He didn't like him for being Lear's friend to begin with. Now, he was even defending Lear's father.
Max frowned, but didn't move. He remembered Melinda's words from earlier and now he could only count on them. He just hoped that she was indeed talking about him.
"Sir, this person here is my guest. And, I treat my guess with respect," Max said with a straight face, clearly asking him to back off.
"Do you know who you are talking to?" Roman asked with a threatening tone.
"This is out of my control. Our Lord has made it very clear that our business motto is 'Customer is God'. So, we have to ensure their safety as well." Max forced a smile on his face as he tried to shift some of the blame from him to his grandfather.
Roman's frown deepened, but he wasn't willing to give up.
"Sir, please contact the Guild Union if you think we are doing something wrong. Obviously, there is also an option to make a contact with Edwinson Business Group and lodge a complaint. I am sure they will respond soon." Max further added.
Ander looked at Max, but didn't stop him from taking the charge. After all, he was in Roxley's territory. Fighting him right now would be a bad idea. Not to mention, his wife was in his house.
Even if Roman wasn't a guy to fall so low to do something to his wife, there were several other people, who definitely would.
"You think of me as an idiot?" Roman asked as he looked at Max.
Max sighed inwardly, it seemed he had to take one side here. There was no way to care about his impression when this person was hell-bent on declaring a war here.
Max shook his head and turned his head towards Roman. He then proceeded to tell him in crystal clear words, "He is my guest, I take care of them unlike a certain someone. So, he is not going anywhere."
Roman's face instantly changed and fury erupted on his face. But, Max was too tired to deal with it. He had Melinda behind him, even if it got worse there was no way it would blow out of proportion.
"You little!" Roman almost snapped in anger, but Max's next words immediately called him down.
"Guards, show this sir, the way outside when he is done." Max said as he looked at the two shivering guards in the corner.
He then turned around and decided to walk back into his room with Ander. But, before he could do so, a hand came out of nowhere and grabbed his shoulder.
Ander, who was right behind Max, reacted quickly. His hands moved like lightning and grabbed Roman's hand which went on Max's shoulder.
"You better control yourself, Roman." Ander warned him of the consequences. If he touched Max right now, he would surely have Barnes coming for him. After all, Max was helping Ander and it was due to him that he was caught in this situation.
Secondly, Max had the Edwinson and Walker house on his back and to top it all were the Ancient Families behind him.
It would definitely be a death for him, if he did anything to Max.
"Tsk..let go.." Roman clicked his tongue. And, took his hand off of Max before shaking Ander's hand away.
"Come with me, I thought you were lying earlier. I wasn't aware that my daughter had invited her friends," Roman said as he looked at Max. There wasn't even an apology from his side. Not to mention, this guy was lying with a straight face.
Like in hell he didn't know about it.
Max obviously wasn't taking his bullish*t, but one thing was confirmed now. Melinda had indeed talked about this servant. No matter how you look at it, the person had to be him.
Max really couldn't believe that Melinda was capable of doing this.
'Damn, it seems the rumors about her were all true. Thank God, she is not an enemy.' Max muttered inwardly.
"Sorry, but as you can see, I have a guest." Max pointed at Ander with a smile. He was trying to see how far this guy was willing to go, to convince him.
Roman frowned when Max rejected him for Ander. But, he still held it in.
"He can just stay in this place, I am sure. There shouldn't be a problem here. And, I wouldn't hold him responsible for his sneaky acts." Roman gritted his teeth in anger while compromising. But he knew his priorities.
Ander's eyes went wide in surprise when Roman actually decided to let the matter go. He couldn't understand his change of heart.
On the other hand, Max's lip curled up into an evil smile. It seemed he had found something interesting.
