Two days had passed since the big event which marked the ending of the feud between Roxley's and Barnes.
But, unknown to the people, another feud had been started in between the two due to Max's last declaration.
"You really couldn't have done it at any other time, could you?" Melinda sighed, looking at Max. The recent incidents in the past two days had given her a lot of headache. Ever since Max had left the stage with those words, both Ander and Roman had been in a constant state of bickering.
When Melinda finally thought that the two were returning to become good friends like they were in the past, this had to happen.
Roman was the one most at fault here actually. Being the overprotective father that he was, he clearly refused to give his daughter to someone like that of Lear as he was not worthy enough. This in turn triggered Ander, after all no matter how useless Lear was, it was not something that one should say in front of his face.
On the other side, she had an extremely embarrassed daughter to deal with as well. Lora had refused to come out of her room the entire day when the news regarding her and Lear was aired.
Max seemed to have forgotten to care for her feelings in his revenge against Lear. In the end, she really tried to kill him in anger. This really reminded of Max some of the bad memories from the trial, in which he had suffered in this devilish lady's hand.
The Lora in the trial seemed to have merged with the real Lora, and it really scared Max for a second.
But, luckily Elly stopped her, and Max later with his glib tongue managed to convince her that it was actually in her own favor. After all, with Ander and Lesia here, this was the best time for their relationship to come out.
He even made her imagine a situation where there was no Ander and Lesia. In that situation, what would have happened if this matter came out?
Well, Lear would be pretty much doomed in front of Roman. He might even be crushed into a paste. But, things would surely be different with Lear's parents in place. Not to mention, he even sited the disclosure as a very important event in the meeting. He told her that the current Lear was not enough to be recognized by Roman.
They needed to boost his fame and power. Their relationship coming out like this would be playing an important role in doing that. And, it was true actually. It was another matter that Max came up with that reasoning on the spot. After all, his actions were all revenge driven.
In the end, Lora had been swayed by Max's words, and let him go. But, she still didn't have the courage to go outside. This really made Max speechless. She had been roaming with Lear all around the capital, and anyone who saw them would definitely think of them as a couple.
And, now just because they were officially being called one, her reactions seemed to have changed drastically.
Roman was pissed off at Max too, but he couldn't do anything to him after he had gone so far to help them out. Not to mention, Melinda had just laughed off at the incident and asked Max to return for the celebration that night. The same could be said for Ander as well, he was in the same situation as Ander.
It had been two days since then, so they wanted to go back to the hotel. But, Melinda and Lora had just stopped them there. It seemed their stay in Trinity would be hosted by Roxleys.
In the entire time, Lesia was still undercover. At least she thought herself to be. She seemed to be not in a good mood these days for some reason, but Max had no idea what the reason behind that was.
And, for some reason, Ander seemed to be smiling more and more in front of her. This led Max to believe that Ander was up to something which was probably annoying Lesia.
Well, it certainly seemed interesting, in theory at least.
And, currently Max was sitting with Melinda and enjoying some tea, he had deliberately come up here and engaged in a conversation with her. After all, it was time to talk about their cooperation in dealing with the dark society.
"Why don't you take that thing off for once?" Melinda asked, as she pointed at the sunglasses on Max's face.
"I have some issues," Max shook his head, but there was a good news. He was almost there at controlling himself. He was sure to get his eyes in control in another two to three days.
"Anyway, let's get to business," Melina smiled as she looked at Max.
"Business?" Max asked in confusion.
" Are you going to spit it out or not?" Melinda asked with an amused look on her face.
Her words shocked Max inwardly, he hadn't told her a single world. How in hell did she know that he was here for something? Did he make it too obvious?
"You don't need to be that surprised?" Melinda shook her head with a slight laugh, "I mean, it's too obvious. You are always running away from me, and now look at you. Not only did you sit along with me to enjoy a cup of tea, but even engaged in a long conversation."
"When I couple it with the fact that you appeared on the stage with so many important figures from the Ancient Families, I can see some vague outlines.."
She still couldn't understand why all those people appeared to help her out. Was it just because Max asked them to help? Well, that was a bit hard to take. But, now seeing Max act like this, she had started to have a bit of an idea.
"It seems you have something important to talk about," She further said with an amused face.
Max forced a smile on his face, he had to give it to her. She was really scary. He wouldn't want to make an enemy out of her any day soon.
"Well, since it's already out, I guess I won't hold it back," Max said with a smile as he took out a file, and placed it in front of Melinda. "Why don't you have a look? It will make the discussion easier?"
