"Are you sure it's this place?" Caira asked, looking at Max with a frown.
"Well, he certainly doesn't seem confused about it," Max said as he looked at Thrice. It was sure that they were on the right path.
"This place doesn't belong to any kind of gang or groups around. Neither has there been any traces of Dark Society operating in this area." Caira said with a frown.
"Hmmn..who owns this place then?" Max asked curiously.
"The Roxleys...this entire area belongs to us.." She said with a dark expression, and Max could understand why.
There was someone from the Roxleys, who was targeting him.
"Is it Elder Omen?" Caira asked with a serious look, but Max shook his head. It wasn't him. It wouldn't make sense for the person to be Omen. After all, he was being tracked from way before he even came in contact with Roxleys truly.
In that case, who could it possibly be?
"Let's go, we will find out about it right now," Max said as he moved with Caira closely following behind.
The two began to move close to one of the mansions nearby the place, and Caira's face really turned dark when Thrice clearly pointed out that it was this place where he had followed the man to.
"This is Elder Omen's mansion.." Caira looked at Max, and even he couldn't help but be confused about it.
He couldn't think of any reason why the person was targeting him ever since his arrival in Trinity. He was sure that he didn't have any previous feud with the man.
'That guy either is good at acting or was genuinely scared back then when I threatened him. Could he really dare to do this even after that?'
Omen was really scared of the Ancient Families which was very obvious to Max, and he was practically about to pee his pants when Max showed him the diary. And, now he was told that the guy still dared to plot against him.
Max didn't know if he was missing something here or the guy was just that good at acting.
"Take this," Max took out a pair of invisible cloaks and passed one to Caira while using one himself. He then activated the spirit domain, and sealed all the mana around them. It totally hid their presence.
With that, the two quietly jumped over the wall and entered the mansion grounds.
"Be careful, I heard he has Master tier Mages all around guarding him. If we get caught, running away won't be an easy task." Caira whispered to Max, and he gave her a nod.
"Wait." Max suddenly paused, and lowered himself. Caira too followed Max's action, and a few seconds later, two people walked past a few meters away from them.
The two then continued to move, before finally finding a way into the mansion through an open window.
As Caira was about to sneak in, Max caught her hand and held her back.
"What's wrong?" She asked, but Max just asked her to keep quiet.
He had sensed a few terrifying presences inside. He was pretty sure there were at least four Grandmaster Tier Mages inside with a dozen or so Master Tier Mages.
He immediately concentrated on his ears, and the next instant, the voices inside became clearer to him.
…
"You are really not going to do this, Omen? Do you really think you wouldn't be caught? If we don't strike now, and slay that witch. She will definitely kill us one by one once she finds dirt on us."
"Not to mention, I am sure that diary had some of it on you." The person said with a snort.
"True, besides, are you not aware that the guy who gave you the Diary is a good friend of Lear Barnes, who is dating the Roxley girl. Whose side do you think he is on?" Another voice sounded.
Both of the voices familiar to Max, the first one belonged to one of the Neutral Elders while the last one was an elder from Omen's side.
"It's true indeed," Omen said with a frown as he looked at the guest who was staying at his place for the past few days.
It was a man with slight strands of white hair in his black ones. He seemed to be in his 50's, and was radiating a strong aura.
"If you are willing to take part in this operation, then my Master is willing to give you a helping hand as well," The person said with a smile.
"I thought letting you stay in Roxley's territory was more than enough of a help to frame you guys as our people. And, now you want me to lend you a hand in killing the Lady Of Barnes House as well?" Omen snorted, "I can kick you off this place right now, and your entire plan will be in shambles."
"And, what do you think will happen then?" The man paused, and then continued with a smile, "You will lose your only chance here. If you work with us, we can break the peace deal, don't you want that?"
"Hahaha!!!!" Omen laughed at his proposal. "You really think I am a fool?"
"The way you have reacted after hearing the Peace deal makes me believe that you are against it as well for some reason. You don't want it to be a success, don't you?" He further asked with a smile.
"Does that change anything? You are the desperate one here?"
Omen definitely couldn't retort to that.
"We should accept his offer, Omen. We need to do anything in order to break the peace deal." One of the Elder's spoke with a grim look on his face.
Omen kept quiet and stared at the man.
If they could kill the Lady of the Barnes House, that would alone have put them out of this situation. But these people changed their mind when the peace deal was signed. This guy or the person behind him knew that Omen would be in a tough position here and their plan would be the only way out for him.
And, now they were using that to force him to provide support for their plans. Hell, they had even broadened their scope and wanted to take Melinda in one fell swoop. It seemed they had a problem with her as well.
Even though Omen couldn't wait to agree to the proposal, he was doubtful of their identities and true intentions. After all, they had come in contact with each other through one of his aids in the Dark Society. They were looking for a person in Trinity who wanted vengeance on Barnes, and was willing to provide them support for it. And, it was just that their plan was helpful to Omen. So, he had decided to lend them a place nearby the area.
