"You really have nothing else to do?" Naze asked as he looked at Max with a weird face. He didn't think this guy had enough liberty to be fooling around here. He was just buying normal things which any servant could do.
"Well, you sure are not in a position to say that when all you do is follow me around," Max shook his head.
He was just here to see if he could find a good source of mana energy around. He had looked for something strong in the Capital as well. But, with all the twelve houses standing there such things were very less likely to be made public.
And, even if it did, they would be sold for exorbitant prices. Even though Max initially was poor, he now had enough to spend without worrying.
There were two reasons that he was looking for energy sources. First was to improve his spirit arts. Normal Beast cores weren't doing him much help ever since he contracted Andriel as well.
The second reason was to use the SHOP in the system. He had been trying to charge that goddamn thing, but gave up realizing that if he didn't do it fast enough, it would start losing the energy. Hence, he needed to do it in one go.
There was no other way, but to look for something which could provide him enough energy to do so.
"If you really are bored, why don't you go ahead and tell me a bit about you? I really am interested to find out what you were doing on the Demon's side?" Max asked with a smile.
"Well, I serve the Princess.." Naze replied calmly.
Max's eyes constricted for a moment. He clearly wasn't expecting an answer here. This really left him frowning. He knew it wasn't a slip of tongue, neither was it a change in his mind. This guy was definitely better than this.
"And, who is this princess?" Max continued with a smile.
"Someone worthy of my respect," Naze said with a serious look on his face.
"Hmmn...she must have done something to earn it. I wonder what it would be," Max muttered to himself.
"That's the best you are going to get for now. So, stop the futile attempts to get anymore information." Naze shook his head looking at Max.
"But, let me say one thing.." He suddenly added, and the friendly atmosphere seemed to change between them.
Max turned his head to look at Naze as well. He wasn't affected at all by the look in his eyes.
"Just don't get in our way in future, if you can't be with us."
"And, what if I do?" Max calmly asked.
"You would regret it, terribly." Naze helplessly shook his head. It was clear that he didn't want to even imagine it happening.
"Hmmn…well, make sure that you are not in my path. That way we won't end up blocking each other." Max smiled, "After all, you know we people aren't afraid of threats."
"Whether it is my friend's brother, or some pampered princess in front.." He further added.
Only time would tell how the two would end up.
"Sir, we have your stuff ready," The staff informed Leo, and broke the staring contest between the two.
Max looked at the guy, and nodded. But, the moment he took a step, he suddenly paused as a notification popped up in front of him.
[[Bahamut: Finally, we have another member. Anna, right?]]
[[Coward Cat: I am Max, Anna. Welcome!]]
Max was happy for her.
She sure seemed to have worked hard. After all, to be able to unlock the system so soon was definitely a feat.
[[I Am Mr. Cool: We finally have a the lady luck in our squad.]]
[[Tragic Princess: I will do my best.]]
[[Coward Cat: You alread did well..]] Max praised her.
Sometimes it was necessary. He knew that it must not be easy for her, especially considering that she came from a common background. Just like Max, she wasn't trained from a young age, and it had all come as something new for her.
[[ Tragic Princess: Umn...thanx..]]
[[I Am Mr. Cool: I have been wondering but who is giving us this weird nicknames]]
Max's expression immediately darkened upon hearing that question.
Even thought the Systems had been updated to the newer one, it seemed to have used previous data. If not, it wouldn't make sense for them to still have the stupid nicknames.
And the person responsible for the nickname was someone Max knew very well. He was the Impostor god, Vali.
'Well, I would surely kick his ass, if time allows it..' Max just shook his head with a smile. It seemed he had realized his priorities or had just matured from back then.
[[Tragic Princess: We will be meeting very soon, I am excited.]]
[[Coward Cat: Excited to meet me or Wilson?]] Max asked, teasing her a bit.
[[Tragic Princess: Both.]]
The next event was scheduled for Ishtar so they would definitely be meeting.
....
Somewhere in Trinity…
Two people had just arrived in Trinity.
"Are we really going to do this, Princess?" Bayu asked with a frown.
"Why? Do you have any problem with it?" The lady with a veil beside him asked in a charming voice.
"I just don't think there is a need to go so far." Bayu shook his head.
"Well, we are the ones in a disadvantageous situation here. Don't forget it. We will have to tread carefully, and make sure that everything falls in the center of our palm perfectly. After all, we are not in a position to afford mistakes."
Bayu nodded.
"This will be his final test, I hope you don't fail me the chosen one," The lady muttered looking around the busy streets with people around. The people obviously looked happy, after all the city was in festivity state with the next event taking place in the city.
"Will this last, or will of it be ruined for everyone.." She muttered under her breath, and sighed. It was hard to understand whether she was referring to the current situation or just using it for something else far in the distant future.
