A cold wind blew through the streets as Lesia's hair fluttered in the air. She wasn't feeling good for some reason.
It certainly was instinctual, but she never would have thought of anything going wrong due to her son. Instead, she began to feel a bit worried for him and increased her pace.
''Arnold!"
She called out after entering the place and her voice echoed around.
"You are finally here?"
The voice immediately made a frown appear on her face. The voice definitely didn't belong to her son.
"Who is it?!!'' She asked with a grim-looking face and turned all around.
"I am sure you remember me, My lady.." A person suddenly walked out from the shadows and surprisingly, it was Logan.
He was dragging a girl by the hair who seemed to be bleeding from her head and had passed out.
"Why is it you?" Her frown deepened. She definitely recognized the man as the Butler of Melinda.
"Lora?"
Her eyes widened when she recognized the girl being dragged was no one else but Lora.
"Y-You!!" Her aura as Master Tier Mage immediately erupted, and the next instant her hand morphed into a bizarre monstrous-looking arm.
"Whoosh!" She punched without any hint of hesitation.
But, Logan just lifted Lora by her hair right in front of him as a shield.
Lesia's expression immediately changed, and she forcefully pushed her feet into the ground stopping herself.
But, the momentum still made her skid a few metres ahead.
"Bang!"
The moment she managed to stop herself, Logan had already rushed in. He didn't give her any chance, and struck her with a kick right to her abdomen.
"Crash!"
Her body flew right through the air before crashing into a pile of junk in the distance.
Lesia quickly pushed herself up, holding her stomach which seemed to ache a bit.
"Be careful of your choice, Madam. Not only is she in my control, but your dear son is too." Logan smiled at her.
Lesia's face turned pale as she looked at him, "What did you do to my son?"
"Nothing...as of yet…" Logan casually replied.
"Where is he?!" Lesia clenched her fist while glaring at him.
"You are asking too many questions. So, how about I make it simple. You do as I say, and I will let your son live." Logan's lips curled up as he looked at Lesia. He was definitely enjoying it.
"Do you have any idea who you are messing with? Even death will be fortune for you if my husband finds out about this.." Lesia scoffed.
True, Ander would probably skin the person alive if he ever caught him.
"I am not afraid of him. Besides, he won't be coming today." Logan shook his head with a laugh.
His words made Lesia realize the seriousness of the situation. It seemed that this was all planned. And, if he was that confident of being able to handle Ander, it meant that the people backing him were definitely powerful.
"What are you thinking about? Do you not love your son? Uh! I see, I picked the adopted guy. I should have gone for the real ones,'' Logan said with a sigh as he shook his head.
"Shut up!!" Lesia glared at him. She never had differentiated between her sons.
But, would listening to him really be the solution to the situation?
"How about I give you another option?" Logan smiled as he threw Lora in front of him and put out his leg on her back.
"I hate this girl more than anyone else. If you kill her, I will let your son go."
Lesia's face twitched. There was no way that she was going to do that.
First of all, she wouldn't take an innocent life. Secondly, she was Lora and her relationship with Lear was not much of a secret. And lastly, if she killed her, then a war was bound to occur between Barnes and Roxleys. And it would be the worst that the people had ever seen.
"If you are not going to do that, then how about becoming my hostage instead? I promise to let your son go if you do so?" He further added.
Lesia was about to say something when she suddenly felt the world around her spinning.
"Thud!"
Her body fell on the ground and she went unconscious.
"That was certainly easy…" Logan laughed as he turned his head to look towards a corner. And, soon a figure emerged from the darkness.
"Can't believe it went that well." Logan smiled looking at him. "She would have never expected that the soft drink that you sent her through the waiter would be poisoned."
Arnold just ignored him.
"Wait for the Roxley Lady to come. We will use Lora to get her, and then put this woman in eternal sleep as well." Arnold looked at Lesia with calm emotionless eyes. It was as if she had no value in his life.
"What about this girl?" Logan asked, looking at Arnold.
"We will keep her with us. There is still a chance that the two Lords would cooperate to stop the situation from turning worse. In such a situation, she would definitely come in handy." Arnold replied in a calm manner
"I see…" Logan gave him a nod.
"Not to mention, my brother is quite fond of her. I might as well use her to get rid of him." He seemed to contemplate it. It actually wasn't a bad plan after all.
"You really have no taste. Wouldn't it be better if you make your brother go crazy in rage?" Logan asked with a perverted smile as he looked at Lora, "I am sure it wouldn't be bad."
"I am not interested in someone like her. You can go ahead if you want." Arnold turned around to leave with his job done.
"Nah..'' Logan shook his head, " Even though she really is a fine product like her mother, whenever I think about what was done to bring her to this world, it just turns me off."
"Her mother, I will just wait for that woman.."
"She should have been mine all along. But, she ended up being someone else's just because he had more money and power."
"Today, I will let her see who is the better man.." Logan grinded his teeth in anger. There was a history behind him, which still seemed to be clinging onto him.
The matter had been bugging him and it had finally turned into a serious mental problem which led to this outburst today.
"I leave the rest in your hands. Don't mess up. In the worst case scenario, just kill the girl.''
"As long as she dies, even with the other two Ladies alive, our mission will be half done." Arnold informed him before finally disappearing.
…
"Where is that place?" Lear frowned as he continued to look around that district.
It seemed that he hadn't heard the address clearly. Hence, he was having difficulty finding the place.
"Hmmn?" Lear frowned as he suddenly went past a food stall.
The next instant, his face changed and he hurried back to the food stall.
Once he was back, his expression turned dark
"Damn this is good!"
"Do you want to try it as well, Caira?"
"Are you sure us doing this is fine?"
"Of course it is, didn't I say leave it to me? So just relax, everything is fine. And, if you still want to worry, do it for tomorrow. That is when our real trouble starts."
Lear stood behind the guy and the girl enjoying some kind of street snack as the two chatted.
Even though they had covered their faces with masks, Lear still recognized the guy.
It was because he could feel the connection which had been established between them. It was from the time when he had accepted being his follower.
…
Max really had nothing better to do in this situation, honestly. He was just enjoying the food when he suddenly felt a menacing glare from behind.
It was only then he realized that a familiar person was standing behind him.
"Lea-" Max turned around with a smile, but he didn't get to complete his words.
"Bang!"
A fist came straight gunning towards his face.
Max immediately moved his palm and barely caught it in time saving himself from a black eye.
"What are you doing?" Max asked with a forced smile on his face.
"Your smile says that you already know why I am angry." Lear glared at him.
"Umn…" Max hesitated a bit before finally speaking out, "Actually, there are just too many reasons, I don't know which one you found out. So, forgive me. But, what are you got angry for?"
Lear's lips twitched and his face instantly turned dark.
This b*stard still wasn't done with him after all the trouble he caused to him?1
