Day 117,
Note for future: Need to stock up on towels and provide them to children as they come in each morning. And after recess, in the event that it rains abruptly while anyone is outside. Hazards of teaching during the rainy season.
This lack of a good way to demonstrate examples to multiple students at once is driving me mad. Going to look into having a blackboard built (invented?). I talked a bit about it with Cass while we were cleaning up today. The concept of a “blackboard” is unfamiliar, but thankfully chalk is a thing that exists here. Or at least some analogous rock that easily leaves marks when you scrape it against surfaces, making it usable for writing.
As for making the board itself, maybe we can get the Village carpenter to just nail a bunch of boards together. Kind of like making a table but without the legs. Not sure how to handle the “black” part though. Paint maybe?
