Mr. Wolfe walked into my room without knocking, his presence commanding. I was in the bed across from the door.

“What’s happening?” I asked, my voice not really feeling like my own.

He closed the distance between us, sitting down next to me. “I can’t hold myself back any longer.” He leaned in for a kiss, his hand sliding up my shirt and grasping my breast gently. “You’re so beautiful.” he cooed, before buttoning my shirt and stripping the rest of both of our clothing. He threw the covers aside and slipped in next to me. His fingertips traveled over my skin, just firm enough for me to feel them as they did. He ran them down to my crotch, gently touching my clit. “I want to go farther.” Mr. Wolfe leaned forward to kiss me again, his tongue dancing against mine.

He moved on the bed, positioning himself between my legs, his fingers never stopping their massaging. “Fuck, Lili.” He moaned out my name, looking down at my body, his eyes hungrily running over it. He lined himself up and then-

I shot up in bed, breathing heavily. I can’t believe my dream was so vivid. I ran my fingers through my hair, sighing. I need to get up and get ready for the day. I didn’t have time to process what that dream truly meant. Even if I honestly wished it would’ve gone on longer.

Mr. Wolfe and I ended up spending my first day off together. He told me I could leave and do other things, but I didn’t have anything that I wanted to do, and besides, I had errands to run for him. Mostly dry cleaners and picking some things up from the grocery store. He was kind enough to join me, giving us plenty of time together for the day. After the dream I had, the sexual tension was thick, almost like he saw it too. Driving in the car to pick up his ‘fall car’, the air felt thick between us.

“Lili?” He purred my name, looking over at me at a stop light.

“Ye--yes?” I smiled slightly at him.

“Thank you for joining me.” Mr. Wolfe spoke softly. He could be very charming when he wanted to be.

“Thanks for joining me earlier.”

He looked away as the light changed. From what I understood about what he said, he has a warehouse full of cars and cycles through them depending on the season, weather, and his mood. I could barely afford one car when I had one, so having one for each hour of the day was crazy to me!

I looked in the back as I could hear my phone ringing from my purse. I reached back, my chest brushing against his arm as I did. I pulled my phone out and looked at the screen, seeing it was from Alder, my ex.

I cautiously picked it up. “Hel--hello?”

“Lilian.” His voice came from the other side. It was bittersweet to hear him again. Part of me really missed him since I wasn’t truly the one who ended the relationship, even if I did break up with him.

“Is there a reason you called?” I tried my best to put on a strong façade.

“What’s with the attitude, Lili?” He sounded offended like I had no reason to be mad at him.

I glanced over at Mr. Wolfe, not wanting to blow up in front of him. I took a deep breath. “Alder. What is it you wanted?”

He sighed. “I have an expo coming up. I wanted to invite you to present.”

“Real--really?” I was more than surprised. Not that he was having a show, but that he was inviting me to it. Maybe he really did still believe in me as an artist, despite all the shit he said during the breakup.

“Yes. Assuming you still reside in DC.”

I rolled my eyes at the way he spoke. I don’t know how I once found it attractive. “Yeah. I do. I haven’t painted in a while, but I’ve got some art I can bring. If…you’re sure you want me…”

“Would you please bring one of those delightful figure paintings?” He paused before adding, “but not too raunchy.”

“Sure. Tasteful nude it is.” I nodded, seeing Mr. Wolfe raise an eyebrow at my comment. “Anything else?”

“Please wear something nicer than your usual garb.” Alder spoke with disgust.

“Sure, sure.” I tried to wave the comment off, now that multiple people had insulted my clothing choices now. “Bye, Alder.”

“Goodbye.” With that, we hung up. “My ex.” I answered Mr. Wolfe’s question before he could ask it. “He invited me to an art show on…” I looked down at my phone as a text appeared. “Friday night. Can I have it off? I’ll watch Lark up until you get home.”

“A nude art show?” He smiled.

“Well, I usually paint nude figures, but I doubt that’ll be most of the show. Unless Alder brings out his collection of nude pieces…” I chewed on my lip, not wanting to see those anytime soon. To be reminded of all the memories we had together.

“I guess that will be interesting enough to occupy me.”

“Are--are you inviting yourself?” I looked over at him with a confused expression.

“Yes.” He stated matter-of-factly.

I couldn't believe it. I wasn’t sure if I found it kinda hot he was so demanding, so sure of himself, or if I found him pompous. I sighed. Either way, he’s coming. “I’ll have to find something to bring.”

We had finally gotten home after picking up and moving a handful of cars. He even trusted me to drive one of them for him, which was surprisingly thoughtful. Or…he had no other choice. One of the two. I had some time to go through the paintings I had done in the motel, when Mr. Wolfe walked in, his eyes scanning over my work spread around the room.

“Need something?” I stood up, hoping to divert his attention away from my naked body on the canvases.

“Yes, but I’d like to admire a bit first.” He said, looking over my paintings.

I snapped a few times. “Eyes up here, mister.”

“You’re very talented.” His eyes still locked on the paintings.

“Thanks.” I took a deep breath, resolving myself to not let it get under my skin. He was just complimenting me, and he had no idea who the model was. Well, hopefully.

“A very beautiful model.” He said, a large smile on his face as he looked up at me. “Anyways, I came to ask you to start dinner since Lark will be home soon.”

“Yeah, sure.” I nodded, walking past him out the door. He lingered for a few moments before following after me.

I started dinner for the three of us, but before I could finish, Lark got home, his mother in tow. She gave Mr. Wolfe a tight civil smile and said a few things I couldn’t hear from the kitchen, before looking over at me. Her glare was like daggers, icy cold. I quickly shrunk down and moved so she could no longer see me. Thankfully before long, she left, and we were back to being our happy little family once more.

I set the table up before making everyone a plate and sitting down. “Mr. Wolfe.” I spoke quietly across the table. “I don’t think your ex likes me much. I caught her glaring at me.”

“Don’t let it bother you. She was always the jealous type.”

“Alright.” I nodded. “She has nothing to be jealous of, though. I’m just your nanny, right?” I smiled slightly, part of me hoping he’d disprove me.

“I doubt that she really cares who you are, just that you’re here with me.”

“I suppose that makes some sense, even if I don’t understand it.” I nodded, somewhat disappointed he didn’t prove me otherwise. “I wish we could be civil if I was the one watching her son, but if she’s already got it in her head that I’m an issue, I doubt that’ll happen.”

He nodded before turning towards Lark. “How was your weekend, Larky?”

“Okay.” He poked at his food, something seemingly bothering him.

“You didn’t have fun?” I asked.

“No. Mommy made me stay inside all day and watch TV. She was busy.”

I glanced over at Mr. Wolfe, who didn’t seem all too happy about that.

“She also told me she’s going out of town soon.” Mr. Wolfe spoke, directed at me. His anger obvious.

“I’m sorry, Mr.-”

“Marco.” He warned quietly.

“I’m sorry, Marco.” I whispered his name.

He took a deep breath before talking in a more cheerful voice. “ I’ll make sure you get more time to play outside to make up for it, Larky.”

“We can go to the park tomorrow, Larky.” I smiled over at him.

“Yay!” He cheered, seemingly more chipper than before.

I was drawing in my sketchbook when the door opened. Mr. Wolfe walked in, an intimidating look on his face. I expected him to come in here eventually and rant about his ex. Guess I was right.

“Why can’t you do what I ask of you?”

“Ex--excuse me?” I was taken aback. I was obviously wrong about his anger.

“Call me Marco, Lili.” His anger softened to a smile. “Please. No more mister.”

“O--okay.” I nodded.

“Can I see what you’re drawing?”

“I guess.” I chewed on my lip as he walked over to me, sitting on the bed next to me.

“You’re an amazing artist, Lili.” He smiled over at me.

“Thank you, Mr.-” I stopped as he looked over at me. “Marco.”

“Better.” He laughed.
