A small fishing boat floated over the tranquil lake, its round hull rocking before the might of the gentle waves. From his conical straw hat, the sunlight gleamed as the young man sat on the bamboo thwart with a firm grip on a fishing pole.
The line has been casted, and the traps were ready.
He was waiting.
Then, the ripples appeared with small bubbles, distorting the tranquil water of the lake.
It's here!
The man swung his right shoulder back as the fishing pole curved defiantly toward the water. On the other end of the pole's string was an unfortunate black fish that caught the man's hook. It thrashed its slim body and wriggled in rebellion against its fate.
But the man was stronger. He grabbed the string with one hand and pulled hard!
Splash!
A blue fish with long whiskers flew out of the water toward the boat. Thrashing its slim body back and forth whilst in midair, the catfish tried to rip free from the bony hook caught on its gaping mouth.
"It's futile."
The catfish hung from the bony hook lifelessly, its defiant spirit was doused in the man's palms. The man walked over to the side his boat where a coiled reed basket hung from the side, half submerged and half floating in the water. Inside, there were several fishes swimming around, unable to escape from their prison.
"You have fought hard."
He freed the catfish from the bone hook. The catfish joined its comrades in the manmade water prison. The man picked up the paddle and pushed his fishing boat toward the shore where the green bamboos and tall reeds grew.
