[The tutorial thanks the core for finally seeing reason! We are now on Part C of Step 2 of the tutorial!
Open your dungeon overview and select 'mobs'!]
I obliged the snarky screens, though I was mentally rolling my eyes as I followed its instructions.
[Mob Overview
Named Mobs:
Brick - Rank F e-wisp: assigned to Core, upkeep: 2 MP per day
Wispy - Rank F wisp: assigned to Dungeon Fairy 'Fanny', upkeep: 2 MP per day
Mobs:
(Rank F) f-wisp - 2: assigned to Lobby, upkeep: 2 MP per day]
[As you can see, the Mob Overview gives you a list of all your mobs, what room they're assigned to, and their upkeep!
Oh? 'What's a Room?' you ask.]
um, I know what a Room is-
[Well, does the tutorial have an answer for you! A room is an area within your dungeon that passively generates mana! Let's try making one right now!]
I've already built one, though.
[Let's try making one right now!]
...are you serious? are you just not gonna count the Lobby that I spent ages working on?
[Let's try making one right now!]
sigh. fine. [Edi-]
[Just as you absorbed that wisp earlier, you can expand your dungeon the same way! Focus on the walls surrounding your core and try absorbing them.]
this thing-
ugh, I'm too tired to argue. it was worse than Fanny when it came to nagging.
[The tutorial does not nag! It only wants what is best for the core! Please follow the instructions of Part A of Step 3! If you need a reminder, just say so!]
I could use some of that incessant energy...
refocusing, I put my mouth to the directly south of my core and began sucking.
heh.
after I slurped up another 5 ft by 5 ft block, the tutorial flashed a screen in front of my core.
[Yay! You now know how to manually expand your dungeon! You can instinctually feel this new block, right?]
uh...I never really thought about it. I guess I did kinda tingle when I built. I never really paid attention to it though. was this like Patrick Parking just realizing he had the arachny sense in the second Arachnidman movie? if I ever found out how to create a body, I'd totally fashion it to look like Tim Hollind.
[Please remain on task, core!]
yes, I can feel the new block.

[Great! That feeling is because your dungeon is an extension of you, core! Do you know what that means?]
I can guess. the core is like a physical representation of my soul and the dungeon is the body that contains it?
[Wow! The tutorial is impressed that the core has such a high level of intelligence inside of it?]
you know, I don't think I really deserve this kind of treatment-
[Let's move on to Step B!]
...
[As you may have noticed, manual absorption takes quite a long time! If you had to clear a large space in this manner, you'd never have enough time to do anything!]
accurate. but I already know where this is going so-
[The tutorial would like to introduce a better, faster method of expansion: [Edit Dungeon Mode]! This mode allows you to place and delete blocks instantly, but it comes at a price! Each block costs 1 mana point to place. Deleting a block, however, is free. If you refill a block created in the editing mode, the mana points will be returned to you!]
we-ell, that is quite the handy feature. useful for when I'm short on mana...
I eyed the area where the future whack-a-rabbihorn room was going to be and rubbed my mental hands together. I could shave a few blocks off for now, get the base game set up, and expand it later...
[The tutorial would like to remind the core to stay on task!]
but I already know what to do...
[Nonsense! Enter the [Edit Dungeon Mode] and construct a 2 block by 1 block room!]
I did as instructed. the room was parallel to my core room, small and sweet. 50 square feet was not a lot to work with but since this was the tutorial, it figured it'd be something basic to work with.
new cores probably hadn't gone on a murder spree quite yet like I had.
[Excellent! Now that you've created the area, let's learn a little bit more about rooms!]
the urge to protest arose within me. sensing my internal struggles, the tutorial rushed along explaining concepts it had already told me.
[Rooms, as said before, is an area within your dungeon that passively gathers mana. How does it do that?
Well, each block passively absorbs 1 mana per day! As such, there are some restrictions in place to avoid cores accidentally harming themselves in the process of creating rooms!
Now that you know all the rules, I'm sure you're eager to get started on making this new area a proper room. However, take another look at it! Doesn't it look...empty?]
I passively looked over the closet sized crevice I'd built. only the barren mix of dirt and cold gray stone greeted me. yes, I agreed. it was empty because I hadn't done anything with it.
[It's empty because you haven't done anything with it!]
'Fanny,' I said distastefully.
the little fairy jumped in her desk. Wispy flew out of her arms and hid in her sparkling hair. "What?" she asked. "What went wrong? What did you do? Did the tutorial break you yet?"
I only glared at her in disapproving silence before the tutorial blinked incessantly in front of my core.
[Do pay attention, core! The knowledge the tutorial provides is beneficial to your dungeon's continued existence!]
that...sends like a threat. do the gods have a secret taskforce on call to take out cores that don't listen to them!
[Do stay on task, core! It's time to move on to the next step: templates!]
