Yao Rong furrowed his eyebrows. “Linlin, what is it that you want to tell me?”
He backed away from the kitchen and looked around. However, he didn’t find anything wrong with his surroundings, so why did Liu Lin look like she was about to cry?
“My room!” Liu Lin rubbed her eyes as she immediately went on a rant about how her room had been taken away by the mother-and-daughter tandem. Because of this, she had no other place to stay.
She wiped the tear sliding down her cheek, sniffling.
Despite this, Yao Rong didn’t hear another word. Instead, he went up the stairs and sized up the room for himself. The only problem he could see was that the room was far too small.
It was too…simple.
Given the short period of time they had to get everything ready, the decorations were practically flawless. Even then, he still felt like they could do more in the future.
The room was just far too small for Yao Tang.
However, as to how he could redecorate it, he’d just have to think about it. He glanced up at the chandeliers before staring at the number of furniture propped along the corners of the room.
He couldn’t care less about Liu Lin’s numerous complaints.
However, the young woman misunderstood his frown as being unhappy about Yao Tang, and not the room. She smirked inwardly but continued to cry even harder.
“Although I’ve had all my things thrown away, it’s fine,” she murmured, sniffling. “I have Uncle Yao to uphold justice for me. I just would’ve wanted a room—”
“Linlin, your Aunt Jiang and I have prepared this room for Tangtang,” Yao Rong immediately interrupted, frowning even more deeply.
Afraid that Yao Tang would misunderstand the situation, he quickly added, “Don’t mind anything you hear, Tangtang. Everything in this room has been prepared just for you. It’s all new.”
Why would he care if she minded?
Why was this prepared for Jiang Wan’s illegitimate daughter?
Liu Lin dug her fingernails into her palm. She would’ve wanted to go on another rant, but upon glancing up at Yao Rong’s expression, she held it in.
Jiang Wan, on the other hand, scowled in displeasure. She immediately recalled what Liu Lin had been screaming about earlier and glanced at the young woman. “What were you saying? About my daughter and me? Do you think Yao Tang’s just my daughter and not Yao Rong’s?”
The older man widened his eyes. “Linlin, Yao Tang is our daughter.”
What?
So, Yao Tang was their daughter? That meant she wasn’t Aunt Jiang’s illegitimate daughter?
“I—I thought…” Stuttering, Liu Lin’s face immediately fell in surprise and disappointment. She bowed her head. “I thought…I’m sorry, I didn’t expect Sister Yao Tang to be your daughter too. I just haven’t seen her before. I’m sorry!”
Yao Rong didn’t look pleased by her apology. With his cheeks flushed red, he glared pointedly at the young woman. “Do you really think Aunt Jiang is the kind of woman who’d do such a thing? After all the years she had taken care of you, you’d dare to slander her like this?”
“Uncle Yao, it’s my fault…I’m sorry…”
Liu Lin hurriedly clasped both her hands together, staring up at him. Normally, that would’ve appeased both adults, but now, Yao Rongdidn’t look bothered.
“It’s useless to be apologizing to me like this. Why don’t you apologize to your Auntie Jiang instead?”
“Linlin already knows she’s wrong, so why don’t we put it behind us? Besides, she’s right, she hasn’t seen Tangtangbefore. It was normal for her to think otherwise.” Unable to bear Liu Lin’s pitiful face, Jiang Wanimmediately came to the rescue with a sigh.
After all, she was still a child. Naturally, she’d make mistakes and say stupid things.
Even then, Yao Rong was still very angry. However, as Liu Linwas still a guest in their home, he couldn’t say anything else.
With a smile now on her face, Liu Lin glanced up at them. “Auntie Jiang, you should’ve told me that Sister Tangtangwas coming over. That way, I could’ve picked her up and helped her decorate the room!”
Pick her up? Decorate the room? Was she treating herself as the host and Yao Tang as the guest?
Yao Rong furrowed his eyebrows.
Jiang Wan, however, could only sigh helplessly in response.
Liu Lin was simply a guest here, yet she actually had the nerve to speak ill of the hosts?
