Liu Zhi was ecstatic. He tilted his head up high, grinning up at her. “Xuanxuan, you’ve heard what the police have said, right? When your grandmother is discharged from the hospital, she’ll be staying with us,” he stated. “Don’t worry, we’ll take excellent care of her throughout her years.”
Xu Xuan gritted her teeth. “You obviously don’t have any good intentions.”
“Yeah, stop looking stupid!”
Grandma Xu was still unconscious, so they had to stand with her.
Just then, her thoughts suddenly went to Yao Tang.
Pursing her lips, she looked to her side to see the young student standing by the side. She didn’t make any unnecessary movements.
Yao Tang had been in this position ever since she had fed the old lady the medicine.
If she didn’t have any clear ideas of this matter, she wouldn’t have done something like this. That meant she had a plan, right?
Thinking of this, Qin Jing couldn’t help but sigh. The truth would be revealed soon. The only thing they could do now was to protect her friend.

“Little girl, you shouldn’t think badly of your relatives,” the policeman interrupted, stepping into the drama. “They are your blood relatives. Why would you think they’ll do anything to hurt her?”
Before she could even say anything to explain this matter, the policeman waved the emergency medical team over. “Quickly! Get her on the stretcher and to the ambulance!”
The policeman knew how critical this situation is.
That little girl had fed the old lady a bowl of Chinese medicine. No one knew of its contents, so the situation could be very critical. If they don’t move as fast as possible, the old lady’s life was in danger.
“If we can’t force her to vomit out the Chinese medicine, she’d have to get her stomach pumped,” the team murmured amongst themselves just as they made their way through the crowd.
While the police officers all stepped aside, Yao Tang and her friends blocked their way.
“There’s no need for a hospital,” Yao Tang stated calmly.
The police officers was fuming at her nonchalant attitude.
Did this girl not understand the criticality of this situation? Did she think that they were playing some sort of game with her? Who was she to play doctor?
If they couldn’t do anything, the old lady would die!
Or, was this a deliberate act to watch the old lady die herself?
Did she actually want to harm the lady through her use of Chinese medicine?
One of the medical providers from the emergency team stepped forward. “Little girl, which family are you from to demand something like that from us?” she demanded. “The patient is already in critical condition, and you’re still blocking your way! Do you want her to die? Are you ready to bear the responsibility for her death?”
“She’s from my family. Do you have any questions?”

Suddenly, a cool voice sounded from behind them.
For some reason, everyone froze.
They couldn’t help but glance just a bit behind them to see a suited man walking through the crowd. There was something about his form and actions that exuded a sense of confidence and intimidation.
Even Liu Zhi and Xu Hongcouldn’t help but lower their heads in fear, not daring to look him directly in the eye.
“You’re here.” Yao Tang gazed up at him.
Cheng Yan nodded, rubbing his forehead as if to wipe away all the tiredness he had felt previously.
He didn’t look like he fitted in his surroundings. In fact, some may even assume he lived his entire life in the palace.
Under the low artificial lights, Cheng Yan looked quite handsome. A small smile broke out of his serious features, and the police officers couldn’t help but be in a daze.
He truly was quite an attention grabber.
The police officer who was supposed to head this case narrowed his eyes.
He had seen this man once when the chief had invited him over to a banquet. The chief appeared to be very respectful to the man.
He didn’t expect that he’d appear here of all places.
No wonder these girls were so fearless!
The leading policeman bowed his head. “Mr. Cheng, it’s a serious incident, so I don’t have time to explain all the details, but the old lady needs to be rescued,” he said. “We really can’t delay this matter any longer.”
