As soon as Yao Tang had walked out of her room, her phone started dinging with a thousand notifications! A minute more, and her phone would explode.
“I’m back.” Yao Tang texted Qin Jing.
Her friend didn’t waste any time filling her in about the recent events. There were exchange students, and Yao Ran—fortunately—wasn’t looking for trouble again.
After responding to her messages, she called Qin Rui and asked him to pick up Lu Ming.
Within half an hour, Lu Ming limped inside her room. His cheeks were rosy, and his eyes were bright. It was obvious that the man was recovering well.
“You’re here!”
He heard from Meng Yang that Yao Tanghad gone somewhere, and there wasn’t any word on when she’d be back.
“Meng Yang has been nagging me so much that I feel like my ears are going to fall out.” Lu Minggrinned up at her, rubbing his ears as emphasis.
“I’m back.”
Yao Tang handed him a small bottle of pills. “Take two of these pills three times a day. Make sure to do it after your meals.”
He furrowed his eyebrows, taking them from her.
“What’s this?”
“She already asked you to take it. Why do you have to ask?” Qin Rui smiled teasingly, nudging him. “Do you think she doesn’t mean well?”
......
“I...I didn’t mean it like that.”
“I harvested some herbs a few days ago and collected their extracts to make this pill.” Yao Tang shrugged, unbothered by the question. “The effectiveness of the pill is better than the previous one you’re taking.”
“But...”
If the drug worked faster, wouldn’t that mean that it would be more expensive?
If she just gave it to him this casually, wouldn’t she lose a large sum of money? Did she really want to do this? After all, there were more people, more privileged than him who would want this pill!
How could he repay the favor?
“Make sure you do well on our next exam.”
Yao Tang smiled softly as if she had read his thoughts.
“I will!” Lu Ming nodded vigorously, clutching the bottle in his hand as if it were his life source. “Don’t worry, I won’t let you down!”
“The kid’s pretty smart. I’ve seen his potential when he was much younger. I’m sure he’d do well.” Qin Rui patted his cousin’s shoulder with a grin.
Realizing what he had done, Qin Rui hurriedly stroked his back. “Are you okay?” he said quickly. “Did I use too much force?”
“Damn it, I don’t know why that Lu Qing would treat you like his enemy. What does that bastard know? Someone should’ve thought him another lesson.”
“Someone already did,” Lu Ming said briefly.
Yao Tang’s eyes flashed with amusement. “How are Yan Yu and the others? Are they doing better now?”
Before she left, the group had already returned to class one after the other.
However, as she didn’t really have the time to observe them, she didn’t know what their current states were. She pursed her lips.

“I’ve already given them the pills,” Lu Ming responded quickly. “I’ve also told them about the quantity and the precuations—everything you’ve told me.”
“I went to see them yesterday, and they were recovering quite quickly. If the rate continues, they’d be prepared to take the big exam.”
However, Lu Ming didn’t really reveal the entire story.
For example, after using the medicine, they suffered a couple of side effects—like pain.
However, Yao Tang did say that having pain as a side effect was normal, so he didn’t dare trouble her about it anymore.
As long as they had a good chance of having a slight recovery, suffering like this wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
They just had to make a few sacrifices.
“Is there anything else?”
“Don’t worry. We’re fine.”
They were fine. It’s nothing.
Just then, a knock came from the door.
Yao Tang opened the door to see Lin Xin, Qin Jing, and Meng Yangstanding by the door entrance. They were holding a large box of cakes with smiles on their faces.
“Come in.”
Lin Xin immediately pulled her into a bear hug. “Sister Tang!” she squealed. “I miss you so much!”
Qin Jing grinned as she opened the cake packaging, preparing to slice it.
