“This is not your strength, but Bridgette’s. If you win using someone else’s power, wouldn’t you be ashamed of yourself?”
“No, I’m not ashamed. Plus, if this was a real battle instead of a mock one, it will be Karendoll-san who dies, not me.”
When I said that, Karendoll’s face contorted in frustration.
I guess she understood that she would be the one dying were it a real battle, although she doesn’t look convinced by her expression.
But still, Karendoll’s eyes have not given up, and I can see that they are glaringly like the eyes of a predator aiming at its prey.
“God, why don’t you at least try to hide the killing intent? It shows that you still have some cards in your hand or some way to overturn the situation.”
“It’s high time for you to act superior and lecture me. Do you really think that Bridgette is capable of dealing with me? I ranked first in the school in the exam a while ago, while Bridgette was ranked tenth, I believe. Bridgette was 5th in last year’s ranking, so she must have gotten weaker because she was into this sort of scum. Although I’m not saying rankings are directly related to a person’s strength, there is certainly a large gap between single-digit rankers from 1rst to 9th and double-digit rankers.”
Before I could say anything else, Bridgette opened her mouth.
“So, would you like to give me a try? I am very angry right now, to the point where I feel like I want to kill you right now for making fun of me and disrespecting my master.”
Bridgette is really pissed off, and I can feel the insane killing intent she’s giving off. I’d better calm her down.
If she were to kill her, there’s no way I can undo it.
Why is that? She is far more willing to listen to my commands than she is to suppress her anger, which she was just barely suppressing with her rational mind. Seeing Bridgette’s lively response and how she has changed as if she is even happy to be ordered to do things… I can’t help but think of Pes, a dog we had at home.
I had thought she just acted like one, but she might be a dog for real now.
I dare not say it because it would make her happy, but it’ll pain me the most.
She’ll surely beg me for a collar, leash, walk, etc., and there’s no way she’ll stop there.
I am a man who can avoid landmines based on my past experience.
But that aside, I thought to myself.
I didn’t even tell her to, but when I blew my finger whistle, Bridgette appeared as if it was a matter of course.
That’s what I thought.
Then a hypothesis came to my mind, and I clapped my hands.
“You called me? Master! No matter what challenges lie ahead, I’ll face them for you! Now that I’m here, it’ll be alright! Anything you desire, at your will! I await your order!!!”
Then, as I thought a black shadow fell from the ceiling in front of me, I saw Galette, a dragonoid, kneeled in front of me, lowering her head.
[TLN: I forgot to mention this before, but Galette refers to herself as “Boku”]
