Maddie woke up from her adorned nest. Decorated as a faerie should with pillows, silk, cotton sheets and flowers of all colours.

She flew from her bed to the wooden floor and looked at her figure in the large mirror against the pinkish floral wall, just horrified. She let a pitchy scream escape from her mouth, and Maggie came as fast as she could.

‘What is wrong, Maddie?’

‘Look at me!’

‘By the Green Mother, you look horrible! Your wrinkles completely disappear!’

‘And my hair! Touch it! It’s all disgusting! It’s fluffy and shiny!’

‘Your skin is horribly glowing!’ said Maggy, repulsed by touching Maddie’s face. ‘I think I still have some old mouldy roots to fix your wrinkles back. And I can pick a bucket of mud from the swaps to handle your hair later.’

A small toddler enters the room with clumsy steps, curious about all the commotion. Maddie curves down to pick up the baby: ‘Oh! My backs are not even hurting me anymore!’

Maggie sneaks her eye into the mirror as well. Her jaw almost fell to the ground: ‘When did I gain this shape? Have you seen how flat my belly is?

‘I didn’t want to say anything. You are very self-conscience about your body, but sister, your bosom looks like two hard melons instead or your beautiful saggy pears touching almost your knees.’

‘When did this happen to us?’

‘We are getting old. Soon our bones will stop cracking.’; said Maddy soothing the baby.

Suddenly the sisters’ worries were interrupted by a sound: ‘Olvia.’

‘What was that?’

‘Do you think she is saying her name?’

‘Olivia?’

‘Olvia’ repeats the baby.

‘Olivia?’ said the sisters in unison.

‘Ol-vi-a!’ repeats the baby slower.

‘Maddie, is she mispronouncing her name or is it really Olvia?’

‘I don’t know, but if she said Olvia. So it is Olvia. Each creature is free to choose its name at the right time, and such is the tradition.’

‘Well, young lady, it took you two Summers to tell us finally your name. I’m Margaret, and this is Madalene. You may call us Maddy and Maggy. We are delighted to finally know your beautiful name.’

Olvia laughed, which she interrupted with a burp letting a firefly escape.
