The beastkin mother is restrained, unable to realize why they're so angry. Don't they realize that the man she attacked spit directly on her daughter? How would they feel if someone spit on their child? Have they ever seen their beloved child feel that kind of public humiliation before? Who are they to shout at her, to feel angry with her actions?
They would have all done the same thing if someone spit on an important friend or family member. She does understand that her actions were quite hasty and poorly thought out, but at least she will die an honorable death, for what good that does her daughter.
Perhaps she’s in a state of shock right now. Perhaps her mental state has already snapped from the stress she has been facing lately. Nevertheless, the middle aged demihuman woman does not regret her actions in the least.
Unable to accept why she is being restrained, she tries hard to escape the grip of her human captors. She struggles and struggles and struggles to no avail. She looks over at her daughter and sees her standing among the crowd, almost completely ignored by the angry human supremacists. Her daughter tries to run towards her.
Then, something happens that snaps the beastkin mother out of her primal anger, to face reality once more in all its horror. Someone she doesn’t recognize picks her daughter up and runs quickly out of the crowd away from her. She hears a slight jingling noise associated as her daughter screams and struggles, continuously being carried away.
"W-Wait, stop!! Where are you–" She screams out but the person in front of her hits her with the back of his hand. She notices the man for the first time.
Finally, her daughter’s screams grow quieter and quieter until she can hear them no longer. Either she has left the square or…
This is when she panics. Having seen her daughter carried away by a stranger and taken out of the crowd, away from her, the middle aged mother becomes highly agitated. Too distressed to allow herself to be left in the hold of these three evil people. She doesn't understand why this is happening to her, how things turned out like this.
She hadn't heard about the statue march at Maz square, she was spending the entire day in her home with her daughter.
In a fit of extreme agitation, she tries to bite the arm of the man holding her neck. He holds in a scream as her bite gains purchase on his forearm and breaks his skin. She then tries to headbutt the man restraining her right arm, but before she can try, she feels a cloth gag being tied around her head, preventing her from biting anymore or moving her head.
She once again sees the person standing in front of her. His face is close to hers now. He looks her directly in her eye, his eyes cold with a tinge of anger. She realizes what's about to happen to her. She's going to die today.
The beastkin mother cries again and again, her tears flowing out profusely, her nose sniffling as well.
"Gather around and witness this frenzied beast." Someone speaks. The woman continues to cry while looking towards the voice of the man in front of her.
She notices his clothes for the first time today, a jacket with a hood lined with feathers. In his right hand is a knife and on his left, she notices the glint of two silver rings. He smiles widely at her. She feels like prey before that emotionless smile. He looks around to where she is now.
There is a circle around her on the street where she is being held by the three humans restraining her movement. She tries once again to scream for her daughter, but she isn't anywhere within the surrounding crowd. The man wearing a feathered jacket continues speaking.
"Without provocation, this woman nearly killed that man! Even now see what she did to him." The man points to a spot in the crowd. The humans standing there part to reveal a display that shocks the rest of the crowd; the beastkin mother realizes this moment is likely when her death by mob justice is set in stone.
The man that she had attacked is lying unconscious while two human women try to help him. One woman is administering a healing spell while the other is wrapping his head in bandages.
The middle aged mother can tell that healing a skull fracture is likely not something those women are capable of. The healing spell is instead used to try and heal the man's eyes, but she seems to be sweating. Her struggling, saddened face makes it seem like he's going to be blind permanently.
Serves him right.
As if hearing her thoughts, the healer's eyes dart over to see the restrained demihuman woman. She looks at her with pure hatred. She's also wearing two rings on her left hand. The two healers can only do so much for that man today, he may still die soon. The woman only grits her teeth in anger while looking at him receiving sympathy from the crowd.
If a demihuman had spit on his child, he would have flayed him alive, she doesn't doubt that one bit. They can’t handle the consequences of their actions, nothing more.

The woman shouts in anger through her tears, but her words are muffled by the cloth gag. Her voice is quickly silenced by the hateful yells of the crowd. They immediately perceive that she has no remorse for what they, the human supremacists, perceive to be a purely senseless action.
You fucking hypocrites…
The man in the feathered jacket continues speaking, but she doesn't hear any of it. She only feels utter fear, confusion and despair. The woman becomes even more anxious. She keeps darting her eyes in an effort to find a way to escape the crowd and the people restraining her.
There is no possible escape. She can't accept her death if she doesn't at least know where her daughter is. Who snatched her from the crowd? The kidnapper was wearing a hood as well.
What if one of these vile scum kidnapped her? She thinks to herself as her eyes tremble. What could they do to her child?
Then, she notices the man in the feathered jacket looking directly at her face. He has stopped speaking. The knife in the man's right hand. He holds it up.
"So, we must exact some punishment." The man says, his eyes staring coldly at her own. The crowd cheers at the word "punishment". She trembles in fear. He laughs heartily and screams to the crowd.
"The beast bitch is afraid!"
The crowd roars. The mother wonders if this is just a nightmare. One of the worst ones she has ever had. The man speaks again, and she listens this time.
"But, we cannot just execute her for her crime. These vermin seek death. They try to kill us at cost to themselves. They don't fear death. They fear… pain." The man turns his head towards her. She doesn't understand what he means by her "seeking death".
Is that how he twisted this situation? To make me look like some kind of suicide terrorist?
She then registers what he means when he says that she fears pain.
He's… he's going to…
The man walks closer to her. She tries to struggle away from him, but it is futile.
He's going to torture me.
The tears start flowing again. The man stands to her right. She is deathly afraid. He grabs one of her pink furred ears, holding it up. The woman scowls in pain.
"When you're dead in the ground, decomposing, you won't need–"
BANG!!
Suddenly, a loud piercing noise fills the area and a blinding light fills the circle where the beastkin mother is being held.
